Dan’s flight landed at midday, and as he came down the steps of the jet he locked eyes with Georgiana, who was bouncing up and down on the spot in her excitement. He gulped and forced himself to smile. He felt like his world was about to collapse.
Georgiana threw herself into his arms and squealed: “Welcome home!”
Dan held her tightly and kissed her. “You have no idea how good it is to see you” he whispered.
“Let’s get out of here,” she said and took his hand.
“I didn’t know you were coming to meet me,” Dan said.
“I couldn’t wait another minute, so I commandeered your driver and here I am.” She shoved him into the waiting car.
Once inside she told the driver to head to Appleton Vale, and leaned back into Dan’s arms. “That feels so good,” she sighed.
