Rose went home feeling disoriented.
Yoseph's words kept replaying in her mind.
In a way, he was right.
Apart from hiding his identity, he hadn't really lied to her. He hadn't done anything cruel or excessive. Even during their argument, he had remained patient, allowing her to vent her anger without interrupting. He was willing to give her space and even keep her job waiting for her.
Wait.
Could that even be called an argument?
She was the one who had been shouting.
He had simply stood there and taken it.
She had even told him to shut up whenever he tried to explain.
If it had been anyone else, she probably would have been fired on the spot.
Hmph.
Served him right.
Who asked him to hide such an important thing from her?
Rose smiled to herself.
She wasn't going to forgive him that easily. Otherwise, he would think she was easy to bully.
Let him suffer a little.
The next time, he wouldn't dare keep secrets from her.
Still smiling, she walked into the kitchen to make something to eat.
Just then, her phone rang.
An unfamiliar number flashed across the screen.
She answered.
"Hello?"
"Miss Rose, it's me. Felix."
"Oh, Mr. Felix. Sorry, I didn't recognize the number."
"It's okay. I was wondering if you're free today. Maybe we could have lunch together? There's something I'd like to discuss with you."
Rose thought about it.
She didn't have anything planned, and honestly, she wasn't in the mood to cook.
Why not?
"Sure. Send me the address."
"Great."
A few moments later, the address arrived.
Rose stepped into the restaurant.
It wasn't nearly as luxurious as the one Yoseph had taken her to, but it was decent and comfortable.
She quickly spotted Felix and walked over.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Felix."
"Miss Rose, welcome."
She sat down opposite him.
"Actually, you can just call me Felix. Calling me Mr. Felix makes me feel old."
Rose laughed.
"Who would dare call you old? Unless they're blind."
Felix grinned.
"Thank you for the compliment."
A waiter approached.
"What would you like to order?" Felix asked.
Rose glanced through the menu.
For some reason, her mind drifted to the expensive meal she never got to enjoy the night everything fell apart with Yoseph.
When they finally reconciled, she was definitely demanding a proper makeup date.
"I'll have spaghetti, egg sauce, and fruit juice."
Felix nodded.
"I'll have the same thing."
Rose looked surprised.
"You don't want something else?"
Felix shrugged.
"It's easier this way."
Rose nodded.
Soon their food arrived.
As they ate, Rose finally asked,
"So, what was it you wanted to talk about?"
Felix smiled.
"No rush. Eat first."
Rose shook her head.
"You know, if calling you Mr. Felix makes you feel old, then calling me Miss Rose should make me feel old too."
Felix laughed.
"Fair point. Rose it is."
"Much better."
They continued eating.
After a while, Felix asked casually,
"Did you manage to talk to Mr. Dekan?"
Rose nearly dropped her fork.
Oh no.
She had completely forgotten.
She had been so angry that it never crossed her mind.
"Oh goodness, I forgot."
Felix hid his satisfaction.
"I'll talk to him later."
From her expression, it seemed she was no longer as angry as before.
That wasn't good for Felix's plans.
So he quickly changed tactics.
"Oh, that's okay. I thought you already spoke to him because Mr. Dekan suddenly released my clients and even apologized."
Rose blinked.
"He apologized?"
Felix nodded.
"He said he overreacted."
A smile immediately appeared on Rose's face.
For some reason, hearing that made her happy.
Maybe Yoseph really wasn't the terrible person she had painted him to be.
"That's good," she said softly.
Felix forced a smile.
"As much as I dislike admitting it, Mr. Dekan is actually a decent person."
Rose nodded.
"He is."
Felix's smile stiffened.
"You must mean a lot to him."
Rose lowered her eyes, trying to hide her smile.
"Are you also in tech?" Rose asked.
"Yes."
Felix nodded.
"But I don't own a large company like Mr. Dekan."
"That's okay. You're still building something."
Felix smiled.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
After lunch, Felix offered to drive her home.
Rose accepted.
On the way, he casually asked,
"Do you still work at Dekan Tech?"
"Yes. I'm just on leave for now."
"I see."
He nodded thoughtfully.
Three weeks passed.
Neither Yoseph nor Rose made a move.
Both stubbornly waiting for the other to break first.
Yoseph sat in his office staring at his phone.
He wanted to call her.
He wanted to drive straight to her apartment.
But what if she was still angry?
What if seeing him only made things worse?
Meanwhile, Rose missed him terribly.
Every time she thought about calling him, pride stopped her.
Every time she expected him to show up, he didn't.
And that only annoyed her more.
One evening, heavy rain suddenly began to fall.
Rose looked out through the window and sighed.
Three weeks.
Three whole weeks.
What kind of person gives someone that much space?
The fool hadn't even tried to see her.
Her phone suddenly rang.
Felix.
She answered.
"Hello?"
"It's me."
"Oh, Felix."
"Are you home?"
"Yes."
The call ended immediately.
Rose frowned.
What kind of conversation was that?
She shrugged and tossed the phone aside.
Not long after, her doorbell rang.
Her heart instantly leaped.
Could it be Yoseph?
Excited, she ran barefoot to the door.
Without even wearing slippers.
Without checking the peephole.
She pulled the door open.
The smile on her face froze.
"Felix?"
His clothes were soaked from the rain.
He smiled awkwardly.
"Sorry. I hope I'm not disturbing you."
Rose tried to hide her disappointment.
"Oh... it's you."
Felix noticed the change in her expression immediately.
She had clearly been expecting someone else.
Probably Yoseph.
Still, he pretended not to notice.
"Can I come in?"
Rose quickly stepped aside.
"Of course. Sorry. Come in."
Felix entered.
"You are completely drenched."
He rubbed the back of his neck.
"My car broke down nearby. I couldn't find a mechanic because of the rain."
Rose nodded.
"That explains it."
"I called earlier to ask if you were home."
"Oh."
That finally made sense.
"Why don't you remove your shirt before you catch a cold? I'll get you a blanket."
Rose walked toward the bedroom.
If the rain continued like this, he would probably have to spend the night on the couch.
Felix watched her leave.
Then slowly reached for the buttons of his shirt.
