Chapter 13 Misunderstanding

1071 Words
Rose went upstairs to get him a blanket. When she came back down, Felix had already taken off his shirt. She knew it was inappropriate, but she awkwardly handed him the blanket. "Uhm, wrap this around yourself. Give me your shirt, I'll hang it up for you." Felix raised an eyebrow but said nothing. He quietly handed her the shirt. Rose took it to the bathroom, rinsed it with water, and hung it up to dry. When she came out, Felix was sitting on the couch. "Let me make some tea for you. You've been drenched in the rain for so long." "Okay, thank you." Rose nodded and headed into the kitchen. Felix walked over to the window to check the rain. To his surprise, he saw Yoseph's car driving in. Although he hadn't planned tonight's visit this way, it seemed even heaven was helping him. An evil smile slowly crept onto his face. He immediately rushed back to the couch and scattered the cushions onto the floor. He threw the blanket down, loosened his belt, and dropped it carelessly on the ground. Even if Rose ended up hating him after this, or discovered his true intentions, it would be worth it if he could separate her from Yoseph. Just then, Rose came out of the kitchen carrying a tray with tea. She stared at the mess. "What happened here?" Before she could get an answer, Felix suddenly pulled her toward him. The teacup slipped from her hand and shattered on the floor. Startled by the hot tea splashing against her skin, Rose instinctively grabbed onto him. Felix immediately wrapped an arm around her waist and took advantage of the moment. He lowered his head and pressed a kiss against her neck. At that exact moment, the door opened. The scene that greeted Yoseph was not what he expected. Instead of surprising Rose, he was the one who received the shock. A messy living room. A shirtless man. A belt on the floor. Rose clinging to him. And the man's lips against her neck. Yoseph felt the air leave his lungs. Felix knew he had achieved his goal. Before Rose could push him away, he deliberately stepped back, making it seem consensual. Then he turned around and feigned shock. "Mr... Mr. Dekan... I..." He stuttered deliberately. "It's not what you think. We... I..." His stumbling words only deepened the misunderstanding. Yoseph froze. "Felix?" Felix flashed him a smug smile that Rose couldn't see. Yoseph's gaze shifted to Rose. She stood there frozen, clearly not expecting to see him. Suddenly, Yoseph laughed. A painful, broken laugh. "What? You didn't expect me to come, did you?" Rose shook her head frantically. "Did I spoil your fun?" Yoseph continued. "To think I came here to apologize." His eyes reddened. "Rose, how could you? Even if you wanted to cheat, couldn't you find someone else? Why him?" His voice cracked. "What's so special about him that all of you keep choosing him over me?" Tears filled his eyes. "Mom. Lilian. And now you."He pointed at Felix. "He's just an illegitimate child born from cheating, and yet..." Rose's heart clenched. She wanted to explain. She wanted to tell him what really happened. But the words wouldn't come out. Yoseph grabbed her shoulders. "What? Why are you acting dumb? Answer me!" His voice thundered through the room. Rose shivered. "I didn't..." she whispered. "You didn't what?" Yoseph demanded. "Are you saying I'm blind? That I didn't just see him kissing you?" He laughed bitterly. "Oh, I get it. You weren't doing anything yet, right? You were just about to." Rose burst into tears. Yoseph's own eyes were wet. "I left you alone for three weeks because I wanted you to calm down. Do you know how many times I wanted to come here? How many times I wanted to force you to listen to me, even if it caused a scene?" His voice shook. "Rose, all I've thought about for the past three weeks is you." He stared at her. "Is this your love?" Rose felt her chest tighten. Her head hurt. Her heart hurt. Everything hurt. She was too shocked to process what was happening. How had things become like this? She had only been trying to be kind. Why would Felix do this to her? What had she ever done to him? "You were angry because I hid my identity," Yoseph continued. "You refused to hear my explanation. I gave you space. I kept your job for you. I considered your feelings through everything." His voice dropped. "When have I ever hurt you like this?" Rose was sobbing uncontrollably. "Yoseph, listen to me—" "Listen to you?" His laugh was hollow. "Rose, even if you wanted revenge, I'd rather you leaked my company's secrets than do this." His eyes burned with pain. "Especially not with him." Rose felt her heart break. He would rather she destroyed his company than betray him. How could someone love so deeply and be so foolishly vulnerable? She gathered her courage. She was finally ready to explain. But before she could speak, Felix interrupted. "Well," he said lazily, "it seems all of Mr. Dekan's women eventually end up in my bed." The words snapped something inside Yoseph. His fist connected with Felix's face. Hard. Felix crashed to the floor. But Yoseph didn't stop. Punch after punch rained down. Blood filled Felix's mouth. Yet he smiled. "She smells nice." Yoseph completely lost control. He slammed Felix's head against the couch. He knew exactly what Felix was doing. The same thing he had always done. Provoke him. Get beaten. Play the victim. Gain sympathy. His mother always sided with Felix. Always. Nothing had ever been left for Yoseph. And now Felix wanted to take Rose too. At that moment, Yoseph genuinely wanted to kill him. Rose was terrified. At first, she hadn't wanted to stop the fight. Felix deserved a beating. But now she could feel the murderous intent radiating from Yoseph. She suddenly understood. This had been Felix's plan all along. The exposure of Yoseph's identity. The fake friendship. The setup. Everything. If Yoseph killed Felix tonight, Felix would win. Rose rushed forward. "Yoseph, stop!" She grabbed him from behind. "Please stop! You'll kill him!" She wrapped her arms around him tightly. Yoseph froze. Felix immediately seized the opportunity. He shoved Yoseph away and landed a punch directly on his face.
