Chapter 11

(Cassandras P.O.V)

This bombshell made me panic, as I am trying to collect myself. An older woman stands up and walks towards me and kneels begging for forgiveness, tears streaming down her face. Why is this stranger begging for forgiveness, who is she?  “I am so sorry little one” I feel my eyes widen in horror. You died, you died with my father in battle… What are you a liar or a coward? I see her wince as I say those words, but it is the truth, why abandon your child, your only child…

I did it to protect you, Luna. What, how the hell is abandoning me protecting me?! “My child, your mother will tell her story and you should listen. That is when you will decide if the words that came out of your mouth were worth it”. I hear Agatha say, I cross my arms and see her furrow her brows, Mari gets up and sits across from me. 

“Cassandra, I....”

I see her close her eyes and inhales deeply. Tears started to stream down her pale cheeks, and I could not help but feel her pain. I got up to get sit next to her, take your time Mari.

“I should probably start at the beginning… I was nineteen when I met your father he was twenty-three. That night I was being chased down by rogue werewolves, without realizing it I stumbled into your pack territory. Your father was out on patrol that night and he sounded the alarm. They took out the rogue wolves and he came up to me after he shifted. He begin inspecting me, my clothes were torn, I had scratches and deep wounds from my encounter. James could tell I was terrified but when I looked into his eyes, I felt safe and he knew who I was to him, his mate.

James picked me up bridal style and rushed me to the pack hospital, it caused quite the stir and when he explained the situation to Alpha Anthony, he was calm and collected. He accepted me into his pack, gave me sanctuary, a home, a family… Your grandmother approved of our relationship; the mate bond was respected by all. I told the Alpha what coven I came from and he knew immediately what my arrival could mean. We married the following week and had three years of pure love and happiness, and we found out I was pregnant. We were so excited, but you arrived sooner then we thought. That night the pack was attacked by rogues and your father went out to fight.

Your grandmother delivered you while there was a battle outside and we knew when he did not come back that he had fallen, I felt the bond break. We held a funeral for the fallen warriors. Consumed by my grief your grandmother asked me if I had a plan. She wiped away my tears and she stood me to my feet, she knew I was not meant to be here without my mate. She told me to go back to my Coven until it was time to return, we both agreed to let your witch side go dormant, and she will raise you as a werewolf.”

My jaw is wide open as I try to process all this information… “Luna, I was there for your grandmother’s funeral, all your school plays, and graduations, your Luna Ceremony. I had to keep my distance, it was the agreement your grandmother and I made.”

Why would she do that?! I do not understand… Mari kneels in front of me and grabs my hands and squeezes them. “If we did not agree to it you would not be where you are…” I look at her make an O shape with my mouth. The gods and goddesses work in mysterious ways and we do not question them, my goddess Hecate, maiden mother and crone guided me back to you.

“I am here to protect your pack, your unborn children and my leader Lady Blackhart.” 

I see her stand and releases her grip from my hands… I notice a spark of hope in her eyes, “I will not leave again my child not until I draw my last breath, this is my oath to you.” The wind begins to pick up and her hood falls, and I saw my mother for the first time. Agatha, stands and says we must head out, I get up and ask her about the pups. What does this mean if I am carrying twin males that have witches’ blood in them?

“We and my coven will never speak of this or you tell your elder, he will report it to the council but since you are a daughter of Hekate’s coven there is nothing that they can do. Your twins are still the sons of the Alpha, this is the will of the Goddesses. Alpha Warlock under the Blackhart name, now that is power indeed… We will have to continue this discussion later. Take us to the house we will be staying in.”

I see them drink a potion that gives them the scent of a werewolf and they conjure up new outfits. The midwife asks to go see the doctor and to do another ultrasound. I mind link Alex to grab his parents and to meet us in my office after I drop off our guest. The midwife will be with me always? Always, said Agatha. Well Cynthia, I guess we can have you stay in the pack house in case I need anything, I say why leading them back to the packhouse. I mind link two omegas to prepare a guestroom for my midwife, no questions asked. I need to keep this on the down low.

I stop and turn to face them, I must ask you to not say a word about what Agatha has mentioned, coven as well. Alpha Warlocks… I raise my hand and begin tapping my chin. I need to consult my family before the council. I see Mari nod in agreement, and Agatha tells me that Hekate and the Moon Goddess will not let her children come to harm this was their agreement.

This is somewhat a relief, I say. Mari asks if I wish to learn more about my dormant side, as intriguing as it sounds it may have to wait. “Of course, Luna”, please you may call me Cassandra, Mari. I do not blame you; I say as we continued walking to the guest house. I see pack members picking up their costumes and I felt a wave of relief wash over me. Everything is going according to plan.

I take the midwife to the pack hospital as I split ways with Agatha and Mari. Once we reach the hospital, I see Dr. Mackenzie and I ask for a second ultrasound. The doctor takes into a room and the midwife begins to explain why she thinks I am carrying twins, and then she explained why I had a midwife, her answer was good enough for the doctor. “The Moon Goddess sent me”, I thought to myself, and giggled. They looked up at me and apologized for moving. The doctor was shocked, her jaw dropped, and she could not believe it. I was carrying twins, and she was concerned about my figure since they are Alpha pups. I explained that is why the Midwife will be with me until childbirth and she sighed in relief.

It is time to tell the family. After I got cleaned off, I thanked the doctor and made my way to the packhouse. It started to pour but we made it inside just in time, I made my way to the office were everyone was sitting.

“Is everything okay?” Evelyn said. One by one everyone chimed in giving me a headache and the midwife pulled out lavender oil to rub on my temples and everyone stared at her. She introduced herself and asked everyone to be quiet for the next part. I see everyone’s face begin to worry and Alex massages my shoulders. As you all know I am pregnant, but I recently confirmed I am carrying twins… Everyone begins to get rowdy but stop once the midwife interjected.

My mother is alive, and I met her. I see Anthony and Evelyn’s face light up with guilt. I think to myself; did they know?... She is a Witch, and I am a hybrid, therefore my pups will be Alpha Warlocks. I do not know what to do. I feel Alex hands stop, and its almost like the room stopped breathing. I think we should inform the council; I see Evelyn stand up.

“This is the will of the higher powers, then mote it be”. Anthony and Alex will inform the Council, and tell them we will train the pups harder than any other Alpha pup, they will use their magic for good, why else would Cassandra be chosen for this task? We all nod in agreement. I ask them to wait after the party, we have to start getting ready… Shortly after we all disperse to get ready not saying a word.  

(Liliths P.O.V)

I looked down at my watch and realize the time, I did so much cleaning and organizing for this room. My favorite piece is the suit of armor, I had to try it on, and it was an exact fit. I found a broach that had the Blackhart symbol on it, and I planned on wearing it at my party tonight. I head to my room to get ready; I hear Alistair come in asking how my day went and I told him. He was so surprised and asked if I can show him the room later, of course babe. Let’s get ready, I just need to rinse off and the hair stylist will be up with the make-up artist. If you like you can change in the office? Please lock the door when you are done, I smile at him. We rinsed off together and we found it difficult to keep our hands off each other.

We got a little quickie in and I can tell by the look on his face he does not enjoy them, I giggle. “I am going to make passionate love to you tonight my dear wife.” I look up and tell him I can hardly wait, as we kiss one another and part ways. Jean and Sarah came into my room and locked the door behind them so he would not get a sneak peek.

The hairstylist went with The Chignon, I am surprised she was able to complete the look, I have a lot of hair. I go to pull out my gown and place the broach on it. They help me slip in and continue my make-up. They told me everyone is pretty much done and all that is left having the guest attend first so I may make my way into the party last with Alistair. I feel my heart about to explode, it is just like in the novels. I will descend a stair case and take his hand and Alex will announce the union between us. . I know my purpose is to bring balance back to the supernatural world but for tonight I will enjoy my last day as a young adult. The girls help me put my jewelry on and heels and begin to cry saying I look like I walked out of a fairytale. I found my great grandmothers diamond jewelry set and chose to wear it; I place the broach on my dress. A sparkly masquerade ball gown off the shoulder V-neck. 

It is beautiful, Lilith. Now place your mask on your face, and let us announce to the pack of our arrival, and union.

I agree, Gaia. It is time. 

I place on my mask for the final look, and as I open the door, I hear everyone talking and heading out to the designated ball room. I waited to make sure no one else was in the house and I made way through the garden, went through the maze. There was a secret door for me to go through so no one see me. It leads to the top of the staircase where Alistair will be waiting at the bottom. Climbing the staircase, I felt my heart racing like a pack of wolves. Once I was at the top, I heard the music start playing, I hear my brother and sister-in-law call for everyone’s attention. This is it, the moment I have been dreading since I first learned who I was. Now with Alistair by my side, I can not help but smile. For the first time, I feel strong, and I know I can take what this world has to throw at me, as long as he is by my side.
