Soon, Harold's voice rang out. "Emily, it's me."
Emily sounded nervous. "What is it?"
After a moment of silence, he said, "The woman that you mentioned is dead..."
"What?" Harold had yet to finish his sentence, but Emily cut him off agitatedly.
How could she be dead?
She had been in good health and wasn't that old. How could she have died just like that?
"Emily." Harold's voice was gentle as he tried to soothe her. "Don't get too worked up. That woman isn't necessarily the only clue we have..."
Emily's hand tightened around the phone, unable to calm down. She didn't know why. Was it because she was disappointed?
All she knew was that her heart was a mess.
She lowered her eyes. "There aren't any clues at all?"
Had she thought too much?
Harold fell silent.
Neither of them hung up
