Chapter 11

Have you ever felt weird, like something is going to happen but you can’t say why or where you got that feeling from? This was how Rose felt, and when the burning in her lungs got worse since the moment she left Merlon, she knew why. But she focused on the tasks ahead. She had treatment, first a massage but in sitting position, because she was not able to lie down without getting feelings of restriction. Then she had to inhale, which made her cough badly and made her woozy. Have you ever had a bad cough? Do you know how tiring it can be? Struggling to breathe and coughing can be extremely exhausting, especially when it is a chronic disease. After taking some time to calm down and regain enough energy and oxygen to be able to walk. She tried to stand and for a few steps, she was fine. Suddenly her view got blurry, and she found her self sitting on the floor, the nurse in the room with her got quite hectic, after putting her on a stretcher, she was speaking rapidly in a phone and preparing an infusion. After about tow and a half hours she was on a lunger the infusion was through, and she felt better. She has drowsed a little, what has helped her. The doctor allowed her, after a short exam, to stand up and take a small walk preferably outside. Because of the incident, she had been moved to medical treatment rooms which were in another floor, so she had to take another way back to her room and not through the door and floor where Merlon waited for her…… She felt a little fuzzy and like always when she was stressed or had other negative feelings she would always focus on seeking out the soothing feeling of water. That’s why she could never live without or far away from water. She needed it, and so she changed into a bathing suit and walked slowly to the wonderful big indoor swimming pool. This Spa was special because they used oxygen and salt instead of chlorine to hold the water germ free. The chlorine could be too aggressive for the lung-patients. It could trigger coughing and other defence mechanisms of the body, that's why they wouldn’t use it. Walking into the water she felt her self getting calm and relaxing. Admiring the beautiful architecture and build of the pool building, it had a median flair with arches, columns and terracotta tiled floors. The Blue of the walls and huge glass facade made it feel open and flooded with light. The statues mad it feel a little like being in a Greek temple monument of the past. Rose had always needed and loved water near her. She loved to dive and feel the water all around her, to swim and feel the caress of the flowing water. But the most she loved to float on the water, to trust the water to carry her. It was like an old friend who gave her strength and made her feel welcome. The change came within seconds, one moment she was floating happy and relaxed in the next a sharp pain ripped through her and her body cramped and curled into a foetal position. The problem was that this position allowed no floating, so she was sinking, and she knew that if she couldn’t stop the cramps and fiery sharp pain and start swimming she would drown. She was scared more scared than she was ever before, angry, and she feared that this would be it. She was on her way to the worst crisis, and she knew that it was a fight for life. She was tired, the sleepless night had cost her much of her remaining energy. The fight was tiring for her, it was a fight for years now and it was exhausting. Why couldn't she have met Merlon a little sooner… “Merlon I’m sorry” She whispered in her mind, thinking of all the good things and feelings that she had while being near him. Now really caring she simply focused on staying calm and trying to wait for the resurfacing. Staying as calm as she could, knowing that panic could cost her life. Closing her eyes she was ready to give up to lose the battle she was fighting for so long. Her lungs started to burn and the need to take a breath got overwhelming she felt her back braking through the water-surface and tried to turn herself. At this moment on the brink of losing consciousness she felt a change in the water, it was like a wave of light, a strong energy, warm and inviting. She felt her self getting limb, the warmth spreading from her sternum and her back right where her heart was. This must be dying, she thought with a small smile on her lips and gave in to the warm feeling…. Then everything went black.
