The drive back was far from quiet. The two of them laughed and teased each other about dessert, her insistence on eating “just one more bite” of the mousse despite claiming she was too full. Jasper’s deep chuckle filled the car, a sound that sent a thrill coursing through Larissa’s chest. The city lights blurred past the windows as they neared her apartment. Larissa’s gaze flicked toward him every so often, taking in his relaxed posture as he drove, one hand on the wheel and the other occasionally brushing against hers on the armrest. “Dinner was nice,” Jasper began, his tone low and teasing. “Dessert was even better. But I think the best part of the night was watching you argue with the waiter about the chocolate drizzle on your mousse.” “I was not arguing!” Larissa shot back, laughing
