Olivia couldn't believe that Layla is anything near superpower let alone being a werewolf. At times she is almost caught by Layla when she couldn't take her gaze off her.
"Hey! Olivia!" Jocelyn called as she walked up to her .
"Hi. Queen of the pool. " Olivia called.
"What was that?!"
"Your title."
"Not fish?"
"No.Not fish. Fish is for someone like Zoe. For someone as good and as talented as you are Joce, that's the best title for you. "
"Well, if you say so."
"Did you attend Mrs Grey's funeral?" Olivia asked.
"No. I don't really like her when she was alive. So, I am not going to keep up an attitude like crying or frowning my face in a sad manner as if her death pained me in front of her tombstone." Jocelyn retorted.
"That's pathetic Joce!"
"Of course I know."
"Where is Gwendolyn?"
"She met a new friend I guessed, Eleanor. She had probably gone to join her band."
"Well, I was hoping you girls can come up for dinner."
"Oh! How are we fixing Gwendolyn? She is in a rut with Marcellus."
"I saw the post. That guy is a b***h motherfucker." Olivia bawled.
"Yeah I know. But don't worry, we will make it. C'mon, let's go and grab some snacks Olive. "
"Of course sure."
Jocelyn grabbed Olivia's hand down to the school cafeteria trying to avoid Lucas who had emerged from the corridor.
Gwendolyn stood at the entrance of room eight thinking of whether to knock or not. But when she resolved on knocking, whilst she hold her hand in knocking position,Oscar opened the door.
"Here comes the maid." He retorted as he stood between the door facing Gwendolyn stupidly.
"What do you want? We really don't need anybody to clean or polish shoes for us." He said mockingly, Gwendolyn felt embarrassed.
"I don't polish shoes." She managed to say.
"So, what were doing in there at Mitchell's house?" He asked menaciously.
"That was nothing to worry about."
"Look here Miss Gwendolyn, nobody in this school want to get involved with Mitchell. I don't know how you managed to get on his nerves."
"Look here, Mitchell has nothing to do with this. I can sort myself out. I'm just doing that to get away from his wrath."
"His wrath? Do you think you can escape his wrath easily? No way. I don't want to spend another day in jail anymore."
"Please, just give me a chance." Gwendolyn pleaded.
Oscar stared at her for some seconds before going inside. Soon, the door opened and he came out with Eleanor.
"She will teach you for a week. If Mitchell is not on our heels, we will take you in after that." Oscar said and dashed inside leaving Eleanor with her.
"Hey!" She greeted.
"Hi!" She answered.
"I'm sorry, Oscar can be so pathetic at times."Eleanor apologised.
"No, you don't have to be."
"Here, meet me beside the bar at seven."
"Oh!........Okay! I will do that. Sure." She stammered.
"Don't be late."
"Yeah."
Gwendolyn collected the paper note and smiled at Eleanor before walking away.
Layla walked briskly down to her desk. Ever since the death of her grandmother, she has been living alone in the house with little or nothing to eat. At night, she transformed and and go out into the Bush to hunt.
She sat down on the desk and tucked her hand into her bag. She touched a crumpled note. She pulled it out and unfold the paper and the words hit her in the face.
"I know who you are Layla William. Why don't you just put off your chain and let's see?"
Immediately, Layla looked around the corridor of the class. She is alone. The other students had gone for lunch. She tried to picture the handwriting but she couldn't figure it out. She stood abruptly with her heart thumping fast like a car in a race. She run out of the class and tried checking all the corridors. She went down to the library only to collide with Delilah and her friend Scarlett.
"Hey! b***h! I learnt your mother is dead." Delilah mocked.
"It was my grandmother." Layla corrected looking stupidly at her.
Meanwhile, Gwendolyn had decided to check up some books at the library to build her tone up for the upcoming singing crew she wanted to join. She don't want to give Oscar any chance to see fault in her.
Just then, Gwendolyn walked into the library only to witness the scenario.
"Of course, she was. I hope you are not trying to get your father out of there?" Delilah smirked.
"And what if I am?"
"Oh! Really?! Nice. You are probably going to end up like him." Delilah threatened.
"And you will probably end up like your father." Layla fired back.
Delilah traced her steps forward standing nose to nose with Layla. By now, the librarian had come to see them out of the library. But Layla wouldn't move an inch. Gwendolyn quickly intervened. She grabbed Layla's hand all of a sudden and dragged her out of the library.
"What do you think you are doing Layla? Delilah's father was just a victim. You don't have to give her any cause to suspect you. Are you already accepting the fact that your father killed her father?" Gwendolyn bawled.
"What do you want from me Gwendolyn Grayson?"
"See Layla, I can help you with this. This attitude won't take you anywhere. "
"You can't help me Gwen. You can't. "
"How can you be so sure that I can't? Let's work together. "
"Look here, I appreciate but I don't really need your help. We are not compatible and we don't think towards the same direction. I have to go." She said walking away from her and never looked back.
Gwendolyn knew something will happen to Delilah. Maybe Layla wanted to get rid of all of them. She will never let that happen. She knows she has to do something.
Unfortunately for Jocelyn when she had walked into the cafeteria to escape from Lucas, he later walked straight into them.
"Hi, Jocelyn. Do you have time to spare?" He asked smiling broadly.
"No, not a chance. I'm busy with my friend here. Will you mind excusing us?" She fired trying not to get her emotion on display.
"I really want to talk to you." Lucas pleaded.
"About what? What do you want to talk to me about?"
"Just you and I?" Lucas said as he took a glance towards Olivia's direction.
"There is no how I'm going to..........."
"I will leave you two." Olivia said rising from her seat.
"Don't you dare stand.........."
"I already did Joce. Enjoy." Olivia smirked.
Lucas occupied the space Olivia had left facing Jocelyn.
"I am so sorry." He apologized.
"For what?" She asked rudely.
"Doesn't matter......."
"Look here Lucas. I seriously need to be on my way." Jocelyn said pulling herself up from the chair and heading out with Lucas watching with mouth agape.
Gwendolyn sneaked quietly into the classroom. She won't be able to stand it if Delilah ended up like Mrs Grey. So, she had written a short statement in a note. She walked briskly down to Layla's desk and opened her bag. As she made to close the bag after dropping the note, Layla entered.
For some minutes, they stood looking at each other. Gwendolyn's heart keep on skipping a beat while Layla was boiling with rage. Just then,Olivia emerged. Seeing the scenario from afar, she dodged behind the entrance door. Layla walked quietly down to where Gwendolyn was standing with the bag in hand, she stood some inches away from her.
"What are you doing with my bag?" Layla asked fiercely.
"Nothing." Gwendolyn snapped.
Layla grabbed the bag and spilt the contents on the floor. She saw the crumpled note Gwendolyn had tucked inside the bag.
"That is not for you Layla." Gwendolyn denied.
"Then, what is it doing in my bag?" She bawled before opening the crumpled paper.
"Nothing must happen to Delilah as you've done to Mrs Grey. Or else, you might not see the day break." Those are the words in the crumpled note.
Gwendolyn heaved as Layla read it aloud. Gwendolyn had thought Layla would desist if she realised how serious the writer meant the business. But unfortunately, she had been caught.
"Since when did you realised?" Layla asked.
"I don't know what you are talking about." Gwendolyn denied.
"Don't make me mad Gwen. Just answer my question. "
"I really don't know what you are talking about."
"Then, how did this note got to my bag twice?"
"Twice?" Gwendolyn asked surprisingly.
Layla dipped her hand inside her pocket and extract the note. Olivia fritzed where she was eavesdropping.
"I didn't write any of these Layla."
"Your lies are so captivating Miss Gwen. " Layla muttered angrily moving close to Gwendolyn and trying to remove her chain at the same time.
"What are you doing Layla?" Gwendolyn demanded as she felt her back to the wall. As Olivia made to intervene, Mr Smith emerged from the corridor with two policemen on his tail.
Olivia stood her ground as the trio walked into the classroom stopping Layla in her tracks.
"Hi Layla. You are needed." Mr Smith said.
Layla smirked at him. She took a long last vicious look at Gwendolyn as if to say.
"We will meet again." As she left with Mr Smith.
Two days ago, they've been calling her for interrogation because she was the last person Mrs Grey talked to. As soon as Layla and the trio were out of sight, Gwendolyn sank exhaustedly on the chair. Olivia rushed in to meet her.
"Hey! Are you okay?" She demanded as she sit beside her.
"I'm fine. What are you doing here? Where is Jocelyn?"
"Jocelyn is down at the cafeteria with Lucas."
"Oh!"
"What just happened now? Did you also know she is a werewolf?" Olivia demanded.
Gwendolyn's eyes lightened up. She stare blank at her for some seconds.
"How did you know?" She asked bewildered.
"My sister told me." She replied
"Your sister told you? How did she know?"
"I don't know but she used to know some stuff. Maybe she dreamt about it." Olivia lied. She didn't want to betray her sister like that.
Jocelyn walked straight in into them.
"What are you two doing here? I've been looking every nooks for you both." She demanded and she walked closer.
"It was Layla that killed Mrs Grey." Olivia whispered.
"What?!Are you kidding me?"
"I knew three days ago but I don't know when Gwen had realised." Olivia puts in.
"You knew Gwen?" Jocelyn asked angrily.
"Not really. I really don't know though." Gwendolyn answered.
"What do you mean by that?"
"I didn't know she is a werewolf. I just had the feeling that she might be behind the death of Mrs Grey." She lied and somehow, Jocelyn knew she did but she don't want to go on arguing with her.
"What are we to do now?" Jocelyn asked.
"We have to keep this within ourselves. " Gwendolyn proposed.
"Of course." Olivia accepted.
"I don't think that's a good idea." Jocelyn blurted.
"For the time being Joce. " Gwendolyn said.
"Let's leave here."Olivia said.
"Let's move it down to your house Olivia. " Jocelyn said
"Your house?" Gwendolyn asked.
"Yes, for dinner."
"I'm sorry. I wouldn't be able to make it. I still have Mitchell on my tail and I have to practice very hard if I really wanted to stay in the group."
"Leo will not hesitate to lynch us to death if we return late."
"He better be used to it."
"Reese can't wait to meet you both." Olivia said.
"Tell Reese that I'm sorry Olivia. I will make it some other day. Besides, Jocelyn is following you. My regards to her." Gwendolyn said.
"Of course. You can still hook up when you are through. I will be waiting." Jocelyn puts in.
"Of course. But, stay away from Layla please Jocelyn. " Gwendolyn pleaded.
"I will try." She answered non challantly and that was what she was avoiding. Soon, with Jocelyn know, everybody will soon realised that Layla is a werewolf.
She knew she can't keep a secret.
* * * *
Jocelyn and Olivia walked down to the door at exactly some minutes past six in the evening. Music was blaring from the house.
"That should be Reese. She has the attitude higher than her age." Olivia retorted.
"How old is she?"
"Nine. C'mon, let's go." Olivia grabbed her hand joyously as they both jogged inside the house.
"Put off the music Reese." Olivia shouted over the tape.
"Oh Olive! You've got to be kidding me!" Reese replied as she made for the tape and pause the music.
"You need to stop this Reese."
"Music is life Olivia." She answered.
"Meet Jocelyn, Reese." Olivia introduced.
Reese stood looking at Jocelyn likewise Jocelyn. Reese can vividly see the tail inside and the yet to grow horns. She heaved. Likewise Jocelyn can sense the unique power inside her. She has never met someone with so much power and responsibilities.
"You can keep a secret?"
"Of course."
"So, keep my secret Reese."
"As long as you don't affect my sister, Jocelyn."
They both communicated through the minds without lifting the lips.
"What is going on?" Olivia demanded looking from Reese to Jocelyn.
