Ours
Kael
The moment fear spreads through the Ironclaw wolves surrounding Hailey, something ancient and violent shifts inside me so fast it nearly tears control straight from my hands.
Fenrir rises fully beneath my skin, enormous and furious, his instincts slamming against mine with enough force to shake the air itself.
Mine.
The word does not feel possessive.
It feels protective.
Sacred.
And watching these wolveswolves she bled for, trained beside, protected her entire lifestare at her now with suspicion and fear instead of gratitude ignites something cold and merciless deep inside my chest.
Hailey stands behind us in complete silence, but through the bond I can feel everything she refuses to show openly.
The hurt.The humiliation.The betrayal.
It crashes through all four of us at once.
Storm rages violently inside Zane.Sirocco coils dangerously beneath Rider's skin.Hawthorne's calm sharpens into lethal stillness inside Asher.
And Fenrir
Fenrir wants blood.
The rain pours harder across the courtyard as Ironclaw warriors slowly begin surrounding us under Alpha Darius' command, though uncertainty hangs visibly across their faces now. None of them truly want this fight. Not against four future Alphas standing fully dominant and openly prepared to kill for the woman behind them.
Good.
Fear is healthy.
Because if a single wolf attempts to touch her
this courtyard will become a graveyard.
I take one slow step forward, forcing the gathered warriors backward instinctively beneath the weight of my Alpha presence.
"She leaves with us," I say calmly.
Not loudly.
I do not need volume.
Authority rolls naturally through every word, cold enough that several nearby wolves immediately lower their eyes toward the ground.
Alpha Darius remains unmoving at the base of the pack house steps, rain dripping steadily from the shoulders of his dark coat while fury hardens every line of his expression.
"She belongs to Ironclaw," he says sharply.
The bond between myself and Hailey flares violently at those words.
Behind me, I hear her breathing hitch softly.
No.
Absolutely not.
I turn slightly just enough to look at her over my shoulder.
And the moment our eyes meet
something inside me settles with terrifying certainty.
She is standing there soaked by rain and surrounded by wolves looking at her like she is something dangerous, yet despite everything she still looks more concerned about everyone else than herself.
Gods.
She protected orphaned children while bleeding to death.
She spent her entire life starving for acceptance inside a pack that only valued her once she became useful.
And now they dare threaten her after everything she sacrificed for them?
Unacceptable.
Completely unacceptable.
"She does not belong to anyone," I say quietly as I turn back toward Alpha Darius. "But she certainly no longer belongs to a pack willing to throw her in chains after she nearly died protecting its children."
The words strike through the courtyard harder than thunder.
Several wolves visibly flinch.
Because they know I am right.
I can smell guilt spreading through the crowd now beneath the rain.
Good.
They should choke on it.
Hailey
The bond is overwhelming.
Not because of the power.
Because of the fury.
I can feel all four brothers reacting to my emotions simultaneously, their anger bleeding through the connection so intensely it practically vibrates against my skin. Every ounce of hurt I tried to bury beneath discipline and survival crashes straight into them now without protection or distance to soften the impact.
And they hate it.
Not me.
The pain.
The way Ironclaw looks at me.
The way Alpha Darius just publicly blamed me for the orphanage attack like I willingly led monsters toward innocent children.
The worst part?
A piece of me still wants these wolves to love me anyway.
Even now.
Even after this.
Selene stirs uneasily beneath my skin at the thought.
You still seek belonging from those who do not deserve your loyalty, little moon.
The truth hurts because it is accurate.
My throat tightens painfully as more warriors slowly emerge from the training grounds surrounding the courtyard, forming loose lines behind Alpha Darius despite the obvious uncertainty on their faces.
None of them meet my eyes directly anymore.
Not the way they used to.
Now they look at me carefully.
Cautiously.
Like they are waiting for me to become a monster.
The silver beneath my skin flickers sharply in response to the fear surrounding us.
Immediately, Rider moves closer.
His hand brushes lightly against the small of my back, grounding me instantly through the bond before the power inside me can spike further.
The simple touch nearly destroys me emotionally.
Because he does it instinctively.
Not to control me.
To steady me.
"I've got you," he murmurs quietly enough that only I hear it.
Gods.
No one has ever said words like that to me before.
Not and meant them.
Zane
Storm wants me to start breaking bones.
Honestly?
I agree with him.
The second one of the younger Ironclaw warriors looks at Hailey with fear instead of respect, lightning cracks violently across my skin before I even realize my control slipped.
Several wolves jump backward instantly.
Good.
Maybe fear will teach them some damn loyalty.
"She saved your children," I snap sharply at the gathered crowd. "While the rest of you were hiding safely behind pack walls."
The courtyard goes silent.
Rain lashes across stone while guilt spreads visibly through the wolves surrounding us.
"She fought rogues without a wolf," I continue, unable to stop now that the rage fully takes hold. "She bled for this pack while most of you spent years treating her like she wasn't good enough to stand beside you."
Hailey stiffens slightly behind us.
The pain flooding through the bond nearly kills me.
Storm snarls violently.
Mine.
Protect her.
Destroy them.
Alpha Darius steps forward immediately, dominance pushing outward hard enough that several nearby wolves stagger slightly beneath the pressure.
"You forget yourself, boy."
"No," I say coldly. "I think you forgot who she is."
The storm overhead answers instantly with violent thunder.
Rider
The moment several Ironclaw warriors begin moving closer under Alpha Darius' silent command, Sirocco surges forward so aggressively inside me that my vision sharpens instinctively toward violence.
One wrong move.
That is all it would take now.
One wolf touching her without permission.
One threat.
And this entire courtyard erupts into bloodshed.
I move directly beside Hailey before anyone else can react, opening the SUV door behind us while never taking my eyes off the warriors surrounding the courtyard.
"Get inside."
Her head snaps toward me immediately.
"What?"
"You are done standing here while they judge you."
Something fragile flickers briefly across her expression.
Pain.
Gods.
I hate seeing pain on her face.
"I'm not hiding," she says quietly.
"No," I agree softly. "You're not."
I turn fully toward her then, forcing her to hold my gaze.
"But you are also not standing in the middle of a hostile pack while we argue over whether they deserve the privilege of your presence."
The bond pulses sharply between us.
Warmth floods suddenly through her emotions despite everything happening around us.
Good.
Because she deserves to remember exactly what she is worth.
Slowly, reluctantly, Hailey climbs back into the SUV behind us.
The second the door closes, all four of us turn toward Alpha Darius simultaneously.
And suddenly
the atmosphere changes completely.
No hesitation.No restraint.
Just dominance.
Asher
Hawthorne settles into cold stillness beneath my skin as I study the Alpha standing before us carefully.
Something about him feels wrong.
Not simply angry.
Calculated.
His reaction to Hailey's awakening lacks shock.
Which means he suspected something long before today.
Interesting.
Dangerous.
I file the realization away silently for later before stepping forward beside my brothers.
"You made one critical mistake today," I say calmly.
Alpha Darius' eyes narrow.
"And what mistake is that?"
"You assumed she was alone."
Silence crashes heavily across the courtyard.
The bond pulses steadily between all five of us, ancient and unfinished yet already powerful enough to alter the air itself around us.
"She is under our protection now," I continue evenly. "Which means any threat directed toward her becomes a threat directed toward Red Moon Pack."
Murmurs spread instantly through the gathered wolves.
Political consequences.
War consequences.
Now they understand.
Kael
Alpha Darius' expression darkens dangerously beneath the rain.
"You would challenge an entire pack over an unmarked bond?"
Fenrir rises fully.
Not challenge.
Destroy.
I step forward slowly until only a few feet separate us.
Then I smile.
Cold.Certain.Lethal.
"If you truly believe the four of us would walk away from our mate because the bond lacks ceremonial markings," I say quietly, "then you understand absolutely nothing about destiny."
The temperature in the courtyard seems to drop instantly.
Rainwater freezes briefly against the stone beneath our feet before cracking apart.
Fenrir's power bleeds dangerously close to the surface now.
Behind me, lightning crackles around Zane.Wind shifts violently through the trees near Rider. The earth itself hums faintly beneath Asher's feet.
And somewhere inside the SUV
silver light pulses beneath Hailey's skin in answer to all of us.
Alpha Darius watches the display carefully.
Calculating.
Always calculating.
Then finally
he says the wrong thing.
"She is still Ironclaw property."
Every instinct inside me snaps.
The growl that tears from my chest no longer sounds fully human.
Around us, every wolf in the courtyard physically recoils.
I take another step closer until my voice drops low enough that only Alpha Darius can hear the next words clearly.
"She is not property."
Fenrir presses fully against the surface now, silver eyes burning through mine.
"She is our future Luna."
The storm overhead explodes with thunder violent enough to shake the mountains.
And then
I smile again.
"If you disagree," I say softly, "you are welcome to fight each one of us individually and discover exactly how poorly that decision ends for you."
