Chapter One:

2033 Words
Alley POV:     It's been a few months since the twins were born and we were finally getting settled in but that meant it was now time to get back to work on what was important at the moment. "Is everything set up in the meeting room?" I asked as I cleaned up the kitchen. "Yes, and remember Ambrosia, Pythia and the boys are visiting their other covens today to make sure they have everything they need." Stephen replied. A small part of me was sad that they wouldn't be here but I knew they had other stuff and they were taking my brothers so they could check on the other packs as well. We had set up all the smaller councils and each month we decided we would pop in and see how they were all doing. Today the other ladies were coming over and Xander was sending Baine over so we could listen to what they have found out. Lately all the guardians have been broken up in to different groups making sure everyone is safe while watching over the other packs. I know they are use to it all but we still worry about them being out there like that. The weather was starting to get colder so we ordered a bunch of stuff to make sure they all stay warm. "The others should be arriving soon, I'll go make sure everything is ready just in case because I know you are going to ask." Stephen said kissing the top of my head.      He knew I worried way too much. When he started towards the door I heard our front door open. I looked over my shoulder to see Baine walking in with a few others. "Hey guys, how are all of you doing?" I asked with a smile. They didn't really talk too much no matter how hard I tried but I've come to understand that it's just who they are. "We are well. Xander said we needed to come over." Baine replied. I nodded my head and walked towards the stairs, "Follow me please. Can I get you guys anything?" I asked not looking back over my shoulder. "We are fine for now, thank you though." One of the females replied. I opened the office door to see all of the ladies standing with their mates. "Hello ladies and gentlemen." I smiled looking around. "Alley dear always good to see you." Diane replied with a bright smile. "Baine, good to see you again." Josh replied holding out his hand. Baine never replied, just nodded his head and shook his hand. "Alright, so fill us in, what have all of you seen?" Stephen asked. "It seems they have a routine of sorts, none of the children have really been spotted so we think they are in a basement or something somewhere." Baine replied. "That or they got rid of them, which I would rather not think like that but we have to know and understand that it could be a reality." The girl said. "I'm sorry, what was your name again?" Emma asked.      "Qetsiyah." She replied without any humor in her tone. She was the more serious one out of all of them. "Right, sorry again." Emma said quickly. "It's alright, she is just cranky." Baine said giving her a look. "Anyways, the infected vampires are the ones running everything while the wolves are patrolling. They are fighting each other and some have died from injuries. They all look filthy and very under fed." Baine added. "In your opinion, will this be an easy take down?" Jasmine asked. "I think it should be, teleportation would be the best way to go but we will need to prepare ourselves for a fight with them." Baine replied. I nodded my head, we could easily do that but I wouldn't make a move without talking to Ambrosia and Pythia first. "How infected are the others?" I asked. "Not too bad but I suspect they have another month or so before they become unsavable. Plus I'm not sure if we have seen all of them, how big were those packs?" Baine asked. "They had a couple hundred members maybe a little more." Josh replied. "Then some are not there." Harvey replied. If they are not there then where would they be? "They could be hiding in the woods." Rose said quickly and I looked around. "We need to get some trackers and send them out discreetly to search and see if they find anyone." I added listening to Rose.      I had been with her long enough to know not to really question what she says. "I'll get our guys together since our pack is closer." Collin said quickly before his eyes glazed over. "I'll gather a couple guardians to run along the trees just in case." Baine replied looking around. "Thank you Baine." I said before they all turned to walk out. "They are on their way here, when will the others be back?" Collin asked. "They should be back later today and I will go and talk with them. I don't want to wait to send out the trackers though, have them meet with Baine and set it all up." I replied. Collin nodded and walked out with the rest of them leaving me with the girls. "That one seems kind of mean." Emma whispered. "She isn't so bad, they are still adjusting to everything." I replied trying to reassure her. "She would be the one that takes a bullet or something for you." Charlotte said. "That is true, rough around the edges but has a big heart." Stefanie added with a smile. "You think so? I feel like I offended her." Emma said shaking her head. "I don't think you did. She can't really be all that mad because you guys aren't around all that much." I replied. "That makes me feel a little better. How are the twins doing?" Emma said. "They are doing really good, all the kids are with Beth right now. They've turned a section of the pack house in to like a small daycare for the smaller children." I replied.      We thought it would be a wonderful idea and it was safe for them and something they were use to. "Good, we will have to get all of our children together one day soon. Let's go have some lunch." Diane said with a smile. "I was thinking a picnic in the yard like we use to do." Jasmine replied before she disappeared. We all laughed, I had missed them, our lives had been so crazy lately that we haven't had the time to get together. I heard a whistle and looked outside to see Jasmine waving her arms around with a big blanket and basket next to her. "Let's go ladies." I said before teleporting myself down to the yard. "Come on and sit! I have everything we will need. Anyone want a mimosa?" Jasmine asked. "I would love one." Ambrosia said making me turn around. "Back already?" I asked. "Yes, they had everything ready for us which was really nice. What are the updates?" Ambrosia asked sitting down next to me. Pythia sat down while I went over everything Baine had told us and what we are currently doing. "That is a good idea, if they can't find the rest of them then chances are they are lost in the woods somewhere or just hiding." Pythia said. "I'll call the covens and have them keep an eye out for them. They can hide them away until we get there if they find them." Ambrosia added.      I nodded my head, it was a good idea to let them all know because goddess only knows where they are at. Ambrosia stood to her feet and walked off while she pulled her phone out. "How are the covens adjusting to everything?" I asked looking at Pythia. "Actually very well, we have supplied a lot of money for them to add on to everything and my witches have enchanted the grounds to keep the infected ones away. Kind of like a repellant." Pythia replied. I was relieved to hear that, it was one of the things we worried about most with them being so far away. "Where is Jack and Sammie?" Pythia asked. "They are training." I replied. "One day Pythia you'll have to teach us a thing or two about magic." Emma said with a smile. "I would love to. I'll make sure I extend the invitation the next time we have to make something." Pythia replied. It was nice to see them all getting along so well. "Alright, I have sent word to everyone else, they will be on the look out for them as well." Ambrosia said sitting back down in between me and Pythia. "Okay good, I think we are going to need to brush up on our elements as well. Should we set training days?" Stefanie asked. "We can, we can do every other day while the kids are in school." I replied.      I needed to practice combining with Rose again. It was often that we did something like that but I had a feeling we would have to during all of this a time or two and I want to be able to do it quickly. "We can do that, maybe set up another scare tactic for the men." Charlotte laughed. It seemed like yesterday when we learned how to teleport but at least we had fun doing it. "What about the carriers? Has anyone heard from them?" Pythia asked. "Last I heard Atsila and Stella are about to have their second baby. Buran is running around being his free self." I replied. "I haven't heard where the other ones are though. I think they prefer to stay to themselves." Diane added. It was true, no one had really heard from the others but we knew if they needed us or we needed them then we would find a way. It was not a really big issue and let's face it, they weren't the type of people to keep tabs on. "How are you guys with your supply of pills?" Pythia asked. "We are still good on them for another month maybe month and a half." Emma replied. "Yeah, we have about another month as well." Jasmine added. I listened to them talk about how everything had been going and Pythia offered to have them over so they could see how they were made to see if it was something they could do on their own.      The process wasn't really that long, we thought it would be best if Ambrosia and Xander donated blood so they weren't being cut every time a batch was needed.  Julie finally approved of Ambrosia giving blood and the last thing we wanted to do was piss that woman off. "Ambrosia, can I have a word with you please?" I asked looking at her, she smiled and nodded her head. I rested my hand on her arm and teleported us across the field so that no one could hear us. "Is everything alright with Qetsiyah?" I asked. "I haven't seen much of her lately why?" Ambrosia asked. "She just seems a little more intense today and I wanted to make sure she was adjusting good." I replied. "What did she do?" Ambrosia asked. "Emma asked what her name was and the tone in her voice seemed a little more edgier and then Baine gave her a look." I replied shrugging my shoulders. "I'll see what is going on with her, normally she is very straight forward but I don't want Emma to think she did anything wrong." Ambrosia said. "She knows, I told her. I just wanted to make sure she was okay and something didn't happen. I worry about them staying out in this weather." I replied. "I know you are, I'll make sure they have everything they need." Ambrosia said with a smile. Deep down I had hoped I didn't just get the girl in trouble, all I wanted to do was make sure she was okay and adjusting to everything but I guess time will tell...........
