Serell woke up to pain and suffering, his family had been burnt alive in their family mansion.
His mother, father, sister and younger brother had be brutally murdered.
Their mansion was an impressive stone Manor which dominated the grand, well appointed estate.
The manor was basically ego laid out in brick; it was overly large and ostentatious to the point of intimidation.
Its nascent stone walls were a grey color and the windows were oversized, more than a casual look could count. It was extremely fancy and everything about it said 'expensively built'
But it was nothing compared to the castle they once lived in, the Manor they had been reduced to living in was merely a shadow of what they used to have.
It was still home nonetheless, now he was being dragged across the rocky ground, smoke rising in the distance.
A clear indication of the family he now no longer had, he couldn't use his magic but he wouldn't just go down like that.
He overheard some soldiers talking about how his family had refused to die weakly in their burning mansion.
The entire world might have been against them, mages and and non mages alike but they wouldn't go down without a fight.
They were mages and yet other mages had gone through the lengths to make sure that they were powerless so that the non mages could take them down.
He was sure that they must have fought to the death, a worthy trait of a family that used to be basically royalty, till they were torn down from their pedestal.
The mages were peace loving people but when their backs are pushed against a rocky wall, they would fight tooth and nails to take back their honor.
He had been dragged out of the Manor while they were having a peaceful lunch and it had been so abrupt and shocking that he couldn't react in time until he had been knocked out.
Now he had woken up once more to sharp pain lancing through out his entire body.
The rocky ground tore at his skin, while a powerful steed pulled at a rope that had been tied around his neck.
Serell pushed himself to his feet, blood dripping down his bruised and lacerated face into his vision.
He saw nothing but red, blocking out the loud silence around him that had happened when he got to his feet, running in time with the horse that had been pulling him across the rough, hard ground.
The non mages that had ambushed them were still terrified of him so none could make a move, meanwhile the soldier riding the horse only hit the animal harder, forcing it to move even faster.
Serell's legs were bleeding dangerously but he was too much in a rage to care, he ran even faster, surpassing the horse and knocking the rider down.
He stopped the horse, cut his bonds free and armed himself with the knocked down soldier's weapons before the others could react.
With a yell, they all charged at him but Serell had predicted this and he got up on the horse.
He wasn't about to run away, he knew deep down that there was no escape, just as he knew that his entire family but probably already dead.
But he planned to take as many soldiers as possible to the underworld with him.
He reeled back so that they wouldn't ambush him, taking down the soldiers closest to him.
After several men had fallen, the non mages went into a panic.
They called for reinforcement and aimed for Serell's horse instead of him.
A distant arrow took the horse down and Serell had to jump to the ground to avoid getting crushed.
He hadn't been unscathed while taking the soldiers down which wasn't good news for him, considering how much he was already bleeding and beaten up.
He still stood his ground, his sword held high as the soldiers ambushed him.
His yell of rage was swallow up by the charge of soldiers that surrounded him, several swords impaling him at the same time.
Even though his life force was slowly draining out, he grabbed the head of the soldier closest to him and head bashed him cruelly, denting his head.
He hated that it had come to this, with him losing everything, he wasn't going to let it end just like this.
He would come back again, and he would get his revenge one everyone who had taken every single thing from him.
