CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

1031 Words
Adrik started off the game and faster than Haneul could react, which was saying a lot for a Wind Magic User that he was, Ceraun surged forward, easily keeping up. Black eyes gleaming with determination as he charged across the space to put himself right in Adrik's personal space. But Adrik had been expecting this because he had to admit, perhaps he was a bit too irritating to Feyrer so it would be no surprise that the bastard really wanted to punch him in the face. He reacted faster though, his eyes gleaming briefly as he put space in between them and went after Haneul who had less physical strength going on for him. He had a very clean chance at winning if he were to tip the battle in favor to his side so quickly into the spar, all he had to do was immobilise Haneul or somehow get rid of him which would put him in a one on one match with a largely displeased Ceraun. But Adrik would still easily have the upper hand as he could use magic while Ceraun couldn't, that should be an easy enough feat to accomplish. Haneul easily evaded his approaches, equally putting distance in between himself and Adrik suspicious movements in his direction. He could guess that the taller Mage was trying to get him out of the battle to tip the favor to his side, Haneul was not about to be the scapegoat. He did not need to outrightly use his magic to tap into his abilities, perhaps it was a natural occurrence of being a Wind Mage because he could still run unrealistically fast, the wind buoying the movements of his slender limbs. "Adrik! I am right over here, stop running away and come after me!" Ceraun stopped to yell, shaking his fists at Adrik who was blatantly after Haneul. Adrik decided to change his plan of attack, letting Ceraun come close to him, he had always wanted to break in the moron's nose anyway. Adrik threw the first punch, fast and hard, his hazel eyes glowing with the addition of his magic. Ceraun staggered backwards underneath the weight of the blow, he had managed to successfully block it completely but the impact was still felt. He kicked high in retaliation but Adrik had already moved away. Ceraun followed after him, hot on his tail and barely giving Haneul any chance to attack. If Haneul did not know better, he would think that they were sworn enemies out for each other's throat even as he hung back on the fringes of the intense battle going on in front of him. Anyone walking in would think that they both had a grievous grudge against the other. Adrik held his own easily against Ceraun’s barrage of attacks, he had thought the fair haired Mage insane for punching at rocks but the usefulness of all of that gruesome training was paying off with how Adrik had to parry each and everyone of Ceraun's physical attack with magic or ran the risk of getting seriously wounded. Haneul eventually got his chance to trade blows with Adrik when a particularly high jump brought the Anatomy Magic User right to him. "I don't think you should have vexed him so." Haneul muttered to Adrik, using his speed to evade the other's punches and kicks. Adrik made a dismissive sound at the back of his throat, noting how different Haneul’s and Ceraun’s fighting style were. Haneul was lighter on his feet, almost graceful as he spun and twisted, the very air around giving him quite the fluid movement. While Ceraun was all chaos and destruction, barrelling his way through everything that stood in his way, which was very odd for a Lightning Magic User. They were usually calm and collected, calculating of their opponents movements and making the decisions of their next move based on that. But Ceraun did not even give himself the time to think, this might have been a disadvantage to him but it also meant that he also did not give his opponent the time to think as well. He had not been out to vex Ceraun but with the way the other was seriously fighting, Adrik could see no bad side to this. Not too soon after, Ceraun was back in the fight, he looked lost to the battle, black eyes focused on Adrik with an almost animal-like concentration. But at least he remembered that he had a partner of sorts and did not attack Haneul, that was good enough, Haneul would take whatever he could get at this point. They formed a shaky alliance of sorts, Haneul attacking high, as his movements were more lithe and not to mention lighter. Ceraun maintaining his balance on the ground, together they rammed at Adrik. Haneul had to admit, he could get why Ceraun seemed to do nothing else but get angrier, what, with how easily Adrik was fending off and evading their joint attacks. He could admit that they were not the best of partners but they were not doing badly off not with the power behind Ceraun hits and the precision of his attacks. But Adrik did not look like he was even about to break a sweat, this realization distracted him briefly and Adrik quickly took advantage of that. It had been difficult to find an opening between in the two of them attacking him so relentlessly, he could not parry off Ceraun's and Haneul’s attack forever and eventually he would slip up and end up on his back. And going with the look of Ceraun's face, he would not just lose, he would be lucky enough to get away with just a broken nose. Then, Haneul had gotten distracted and he took it, spinning high in the air to deliver a kick that would render the Wind Magic Using Mage immobile for a good long while, long enough for him to finish off Ceraun. But somehow, Ceraun had caught a whiff of his plan before he could execute it and pushed Haneul out of the way before the impact of Adrik's kick.
