Chapter Sixteen: Dinner and Dessert

Soon the group was back outside and walking briskly into town where massive white tents had been set up in the space where the booths and games had been earlier. The townspeople had been busy while Charlie had slept, as tables set for hundreds were now set up and covered with beautiful fall linens and centerpieces. People were milling in and out of the rows, setting delicious smelling dishes down on the tables. Everyone dressed nice but warm. Heaters had been brought in around the edges of the tents so while the evening autumn air was chilly, the tents were warm and welcoming.  Jamie hadn’t been in the house when the group left and neither had Julien.
