INVITATION
Babara Dokay, remember my question concerning who your husband was ? You concealed his name, you refused to show me pictures of your wedding. I went to your social media page and, surprisingly, you didn't post your marriage pictures, wow ! So why do I have to attend his birthday? Who knows if I'm going to be embarrassed in the presence of your invitee's. Besides, my husband's birthday is the same day as his, I have to spend a little time on call with him. I might be tired at the end of the call . Please!!! Don't stress me out about your mystery man . I am not going. I bluntly told her. “ What has his name got to do with an important occasion? “Babara, you are overreacting and I must say, it is not funny. Besides, your husband does not like celebrating birthdays, so it's not as if you are going to London. Please do not be angry with me. Otherwise, I cry. She feigned seriousness. She pushed my frosted glass bathroom door open, pulled a plastic chair, basically dropping off dirty clothes that were on the chair. She sat down, scanning through the rectangular shape and space of the bathroom while I took my bath. Dokay has been my favorite person among all my friends. She knows how dear I hold her but she got married without inviting me. Her excuse was that I went for a promotion exam . “Barbara,” my husband is a man that values his privacy, so you know our wedding was just a family thing, he didn't let me invite many people, and you! “ Bab , you were far away. You had to focus, please don't be upset for too long. I will make it up to you in other ways, and you will be surprised at the package you are about to get in this birthday party . She came close and held my hands, then a hug followed. Dokay could be a little clingy sometimes but She sure knows how to calm me down whenever I get angry with anything, especially with her. If I must go to this party, then you are going to do my bidding , I said to her and then continued “please my clothes, the very red velvet gown I love is with the laundry guy downstairs, so I oblige you to go get it for me , I will be waiting. I sat on my Cabriole sofa , putting on only lingerie, scrolling through my phone. “Here you go, please hurry up, we have got a ride to catch up with in the next few hours.” she said, throwing the packaged clothes to me. “it is not even thirty minutes you left here , did you fly? I teased her but was also curious to know if she flew . She sure wants me to come for this party but then I had doubts that she actually booked a ride but the girl can be a bit crazy when you least expect it. The ride that I was not sure about arrived, and was waiting at the entrance gate of my house, how she was able to describe and give the cab man my address was still a mystery to me because it was her first time coming to my house , here in Berlin. We left for the airport, it was Friday , so it is officially the weekend. I have two days off work to spare. Our plane took off from Berlin to some cities where it stopped and we made our way to another, it took us approximately twenty three hours, ten minutes before we could touch down in Sydney. Babara, please this way , my husband already sent his driver to pick us up. “Hello ma'am, can I help with the bag? “Yes please.” Dokay answered the Young man . But I didn't because I was already exhausted from the long ride. “ That must be the driver, " I thought and Then we left the airport. We had another thirty minutes ride from the airport in Sydney to her home. The driver got us inside the gate of the house, my eyelids that were drowning away with sleep suddenly became open and strengthened to the glancing of the area. It was really not a small place, the yard offers about twelve acres of land with extensive Lawns and landscape gardens perfect for both outdoor living and entertainment. We approached the main entrance door, then I got down from the car while the driver and some of the maids that came to welcome us, took out our luggage from the car trunk. The inside of the house was a show piece of luxury with a grand staircase and multiple living rooms. It was massive and I began to wonder, who on earth could be my friend's husband ? “ Is my friend Dokay married to a prince and refused to tell me? I could not believe my eyes, as it wandered all over the house. Here you go, Dockay came handing over something that looks like a key. “ That is the key to your room. Please follow me while I show you the room. We climbed the stairs and got to the room, it was big but not as big as my master’s bedroom in Berlin. Dokay, Stop all these formalities, please who did you marry? like girl this place screams luxury. You are no longer that naive same Dokay I know. Babara, she chuckled and said, your girl Dokay is married to one of the money bags in Sydney. He was at the office when I called, but will soon be back. So calm your nerves you will meet him tonight and all your questions will be answered, she said. The party will be happening down stairs, the hall behind the main building, so stop those wandering feelings and concentrate on the party that will start a few hours later. We left my room to go check out the decorations of the hall, but as we passed through a balcony adjacent to my room, a familiar scent pushed its way into my nostrils. It was an absolutely amazing and sweet fragrance , it seems familiar but I shoved that thought away, anyone can use any perfume, it must not be the person I know that owns it. I did not bother to ask Dokay, after all, what could Mr Kingston be doing in Sydney? The decorations were giving the vibes of a wealthy one, we walked through the red carpet archways. I went straight to the champagne station for guests, got hold of some glass cups, arranged them in a sequential order , then made my way back to where my friend was sitting. The venue was looking all set for tonight , so we left the hall and went back to the main building. I went to my room, struggled to get to the bathroom but was defeated by the almighty sleep drive. I just couldn't resist crashing on my foam until I snapped out of the real world.
