CHAPTER 1
"Hi, I'm Ben, twenty-one years old. A high school student with a penchant for mysteries. Ever since I was seven, I've been obsessed with uncovering the secrets that shroud our world. It all started with a dream. A dream where I saw a beautiful woman, but her clothes were strange, almost futuristic. I'd never seen anything like them in my life. In the dream, she seemed to be trying to tell me something, but I couldn't understand. The only word I could remember was 'WORLD.' I kept dreaming about her, the same scene repeating over and over. I didn't understand her message. Then, when I turned ten, the dreams stopped. But they left me with an insatiable curiosity about the mysteries of the world. So much so that everyone my age thought I was weird, and no one wanted to be my friend. Even now, I'm alone. No friends, and the girls in our neighborhood avoid me." He paused, a hint of sadness in his voice. "Haha, maybe she was from the future, and I'm destined to save the world. Then all those people who called me weird would be begging for my forgiveness!" Lost in his thoughts, Ben didn't realize he'd started laughing aloud. "Mr. Ben, what's so funny about my lesson?" His teacher glared at him, a flicker of anger in her eyes. It was then that Ben noticed his laughter had echoed through the classroom. His classmates were staring at him. "Nothing, Ma'am. Sorry, Ma'am," he mumbled, a wave of awkwardness washing over him. "Since you find it so amusing, perhaps you'd like to solve the problem on the blackboard." The teacher gestured towards the board. "Oh, man..." Ben muttered to himself as he stood and walked to the front. "How did that go again? Why did I have to laugh so loud?" He stared blankly at the equation. "Mr. Ben, are you going to stare at the blackboard all day?" The teacher's voice was sharp. "Sorry, Ma'am," Ben said, bowing his head in apology. "OUT!" his teacher shouted. "Y-yes, Ma'am," Ben stammered, hurrying out of the classroom. His teacher followed him. "Stand there until my class is over. Then we'll talk," she said. "Yes, Ma'am," Ben replied quietly. His teacher went back inside, leaving him standing by the classroom door. "Ugh... I need to stop getting lost in my head," he muttered, looking down. Suddenly, a woman with long hair walked past. He didn't see her face, but something about her triggered a memory of the woman in his childhood dream. He instinctively followed her. "Hey, miss!" he called, chasing after her. But when he turned the corner by the stairs, she was gone. "Why did seeing her make me think of the woman in my dream?" he wondered, confused. - FACULTY - "Sorry, Ma'am," Ben mumbled, his head bowed. "Honestly, Ben, it's not just the outburst in class that I wanted to talk about. It's your grades," his teacher said, her tone serious. "Are… are they failing, Ma'am?" Ben asked, a knot of anxiety tightening in his stomach. "Your grades are fine overall, but you're consistently struggling in my subject, and in socializing, which I also teach. You don't participate at all," she said, a hint of disappointment in her voice. "I'm sorry, Ma'am. It's just… no one ever wants me to join their clubs," Ben said, his voice laced with sadness. "I understand, Ben. But you need to learn to interact with others. After high school, you'll meet so many more people," his teacher replied. "Yes, Ma'am," Ben said. "I'm going to give you a task, Ben. I want you to create a school club, and you'll be the leader." "A club?!?" Ben exclaimed, surprised. "Ma'am, no one even wants to talk to me, let alone be my friend. And you want me to be the leader?" "That's exactly why I'm asking you to do this. It'll help you connect with people," his teacher explained. "But, Ma'am—" Ben was cut off by his teacher. "No buts. Here's the club registration form." She handed him a sheet of paper. "Yes, Ma'am," Ben said quietly, leaving the faculty room. As he walked, he stared at the club registration form. "Ugh… how am I supposed to start a club when I don't even know what kind of club to create? And how can I start one without any members?" He scratched his head in frustration. "Ahhh!" He bumped into someone. "Ouch!" a girl exclaimed. "Uh… um…" Ben stammered. "How do I talk to her? I can't even talk to one person, how am I supposed to create a club?" Panic surged through him. "Are… are you okay, miss?" Ben asked, his voice trembling slightly, offering his hand. The girl just stared at his hand. "Why is she staring? Is this weird?" he thought, his anxiety escalating. Then, she took his hand. "Th… thank you. And sorry for bumping into you. I wasn't looking where I was going," the girl said, her cheeks flushed. "No, I should be the one who's sorry. I'll just… go now," Ben said awkwardly, starting to walk away. "Um… wait," the girl said, stopping him. "Yes?" Ben asked. "You dropped your club registration form," she said shyly, handing it to him. "Oh! Right, thanks," Ben said, rubbing the back of his neck, embarrassed. "Um… are you looking for members for your club?" the girl asked hesitantly. "Yeah, but—" Ben stopped himself. He didn't know how to talk to girls, and he was afraid of making her uncomfortable. "I… I'd like to join, if that's okay," she said, her voice barely a whisper. "Really?!?" Ben asked, his face lighting up. "But… why would you want to join my club?" He hesitated. "Don't you think I'm… weird?" He did not finish his sentence, as the girl cut him off. "Because I love mysteries!" the girl exclaimed, a spark in her eyes. "Huh?" Ben said, taken aback. "Isn't that what you're starting? A mystery club? It's written on the registration form," she said shyly. "Oh… right!" Ben said quickly. "Oh my god... am I dreaming? A girl who loves mysteries. My dream girl." Ben thought, a wave of excitement washing over him. "Hello?" the girl said, snapping him out of his reverie. "Huh? What was that again?" Ben asked. "I'd like to join the mystery club. I know it might seem weird for a girl to like mysteries, but I hope you'll let me join," she said, her voice filled with hope. "Of course! That would be amazing!" Ben said, beaming. "I'm Mica Sanchez. Just call me Mica," she said, smiling shyly. "I'm Ben Dela Cruz. Just Ben. Nice to meet you," Ben said, his heart pounding with excitement. For the first time, a girl was talking to him, and she loved mysteries just like he did. After introducing themselves, they filled out the club registration form and went to the student president to officially start the mystery club.
