Gwy's POV
Saying I'm in bewilderment is an understatement.
I'm beyond astonished after hearing Devon say those sinister words. Yes, I hereby declare it sinister. What else can I describe this monstrance?! I can't even accept what I saw back in the spirit world. And hearing him say that I'm his ‘perfect’ chosen mate doesn't sit well with me. Not that I don't like it, but that only means I'm never gonna get out of here anytime soon!
Back here in my room, I never intend to sleep again. It's still 3 in the morning. I tried to plot out my escape with Grace trying to help me out with the possibilities.
"Try to go out for now, Gwy. Maybe we can see something here. Like an opening or something. You know... every spell has a c***k in a dome. There's no perfect spell in this world. Everything has a downside," she suggested enthusiastically.
"Okay. Let me check if the coast is clear..." I slowly headed out of my room. I looked at the guards and saw them getting busy talking to each other.
I cleverly smiled and tiptoed my way out. I walk without any directions to follow. I just kept on walking and figuring out how to detect a c***k.
"Okay. So, how am I supposed to know if there's a c***k?"
"Create a spell. Something that will obviously come out as we see a c***k!" Grace suggested again. She was far more excited to come out of Black Dew Pack. Simply because she's used to regard ourselves as Solus Lupus. We've never had the urge to be mated with someone so we're used to being alone and being a Shaman.
But me? I'm starting to betray her. I'm starting to like Devon's teasing, his presence, and his voice. I didn't know anything about mates, but I think I like the idea that there's someone out there who is destined for me. That means, I was not really made to be alone. But how come? My ancestors told me that I'm a Solus Lupus. So, how come I became one for that monstrous alpha?
I thought for a while and Grace must have noticed my pauses.
"Don't tell me you're having second thoughts? Are you really abandoning our temple?"
"Are you kidding me, Grace? We don't belong here. So we have to get out and reunite with Cloud and Epiphany. They must be living in so much suffering..." The thought of my apprentices getting all worried about me aches my heart to death. They are my family after all.
She clicked her tongue. "Don't lie to me, Gwy. I know what you're thinking. But I'm not blaming you. It's because of that Dark Pixie. It showed you your face so it's only normal to feel attached to Devon. But getting back to the Shaman Temple is our top priority. Epiphany and Cloud need us!"
Grace is right. I can't be conflicted like this anymore. The more I think about it, the more I'll be stuck here.
I closed my eyes and collected enough air inside my lungs. After that, I let out a shard of the teacup from my room and quickly cut my index finger on my right with it. I winced in pain. After a while, I let the blood drip from my finger, then drew a Chinese character on my left open palm. The character Guāng means light.
I chanted several words to mystify the blood spell I invoked. It's called the Light Chanting Spell. It's a simple spell that will provide any witch with a glowing light to help see through the darkness. It's one of the first spells I learned when I was a pup.
"Let's go..."
I slowly walked at every dark opening I saw, hoping to see a c***k. I was walking in circles. Sometimes running and panting but to no avail.
I finally came to an unfamiliar path. The alleyway was pitch-black. From the sound of my breath echoing back and forth, I could sense that it was a dead-end.
"Are you sure about this? What if there's a rogue around or something?" Grace nervously inquired.
My heart started to pump at a triple speed. "I don't know. But we need to do this..."
I started walking forward. I put on slow walks, making sure the ground was straight and without humps or holes. Suddenly, I saw a faint light.
I gasped as I recognized the light tracing the character on my palm. "Oh my gosh! I-it worked!" I celebrated.
"That's great! Now, contact Cloud immediately! We have to hurry or someone else will see us!" Grace hissed.
I closed my eyes and concentrated on my power. I collected enough power from my spirit. Suddenly, I could see Cloud. He was sleeping inside his quarter.
"Cloud! Cloud, it's me!" I shouted.
"P-priestess? Is that you?" he asked, squinting after waking up from a light sleep.
"Yes, it's me. Listen up, Cloud. I have no time to talk but I need you to do something for me."
"What is it, my priestess?"
"Cloud, make a strong spell near the Black Dew Pack. Something that will ward off the protective spell engulfing this whole place. As you can see, I'm still stuck here. So, if you could make one strong spell, just do it."
"Well, I can do that, Priestess, but I'm not so sure if I can ward off the entire spell. It seems to me that the spell invoked there is a lot more powerful than I expected. I've been secretly coming there for a couple of days and noticed that barrier. I can do a quick warding spell but would only ward off a part of the barrier, not entirely. And it can heal on its own before you could get out of there," he explained.
"It's not a problem. All I need is an opening. I will be here at this place tomorrow, at the same time. Before that, you need to prepare for the spell. Then, make sure to get the golden Shaman bells."
"What do you need it for?"
"I can't explain any further. Just do as I say! I need to go..." I quickly ended the Astral spell. I suddenly broke down, catching my breath.
"You're so weak, Gwyneth. How come this is happening?!" Grace asked.
"It's because of the barrier. The more I'm using it through the c***k, the more it seeps out my energy. If I do it a little longer, I might fall into a coma."
"Gosh! I only hope that Cloud will successfully help us. I can't wait to get out of here!"
