Old times

251 Words
One early morning I wake up for school, figuring it’s like any normal day. “I’m selling the house” Those few words break my childhood heart. It’s just the downward slope of a life of disappointments . Move out day comes and my mother and I move to my grandmothers. History repeats its self I guess. My father moves to his mothers. My visitation there doesn’t last for long. One night their arguments get out of hand. His mother, whose hatred grows stronger for me by the minute. Says, “you have ruined our family! You never should of been born!” For the first time in my life I see my dad as my hero. He whisks me away and we leave for my mothers/grandmothers. I explain what happened and for once they agree. I am no longer allowed alone with her. Unfortunately, my mom falls into her own bad habits. She starts to come home drunk. I run up to her and start telling her about my day. “Marie just leave me alone!” I don’t. “God dammit Marie just go!” SLAP I had never seen my grandmother move so quickly in my life. “Shirley, so help me god if you ever lay a hand on my granddaughter again I will have your custody revoked!” I run to the room I shared with my mother, and cry my heart out. Once I ensure there is nothing left to cry, I just lay there.
