Chapter 7 (Rogue Attack) RUST After I took a bath, I decided to check on my little mate next room. I need to know if she has already fell a sleep. I just dressed in a cotton shorts and a sleeveless tee then went outside my room. I was glad when I saw that she did not locked the door. When I entered the room, her scent filled my nostrils making me smile. But not for long. My heart seemingly dropped to my stomach when I sensed no presence inside the room. I opened the bathroom door and found no one although I know that she used this a while ago based on the wet floor. I looked for her inside and I stopped when I saw a paper sticking out on the bed. I hurriedly opened it and Goddess knows how much my heaart summersaulted when I read the content of the paper. Is this a farewell letter? To the Alpha, Hey, I don’t know your name so I don’t know how to address you other than your Alpha title. Thank you for being so kind to me (which I don’t know the reason by the way). I am so sorry for causing you trouble. I really mean no harm when I came here whilst crossing the bridge. I was just asking for some kind of help because I know that I am dying that day. I was just startled to be dragged to your dungeon. You know, I am writing this to let you know that I need to say my final goodbye to you. If you are reaading this, I am probably set on making my way bac to where I came from to solve the mystery behind the death of my adoptive parents. I just need to do it. You know, we happened to meet in a chaotic time. I hope that you will forgive me for trespassing your territory. Rest assured your secret will be safe on me. I won’t tell you my name because I am sure that it will just buried in the recess of your mind (and I still don’t trust you partly). Thank you again. I hope that God bestows you abundance for being kind to a stranger like me. I crumpled the paper and mind-linked all weres on duty to look for her. Then someone from the south border reported that they sensed some movement earlier but they were not sure. I raced towards the south border in my wolf form. I know I’ll be damned if I lose her. “Alpha, I have sense some movement that way earlier but I was not so sure,” reported one of my weres on duty. I sniffed the air and I know that she just came here. I ran towards the direction that she ran off to, following her scent. I know that she will not be too far away. I leaped over the fallen trees on the way and took turns and curves. Then my ears perked up when I heard a distant shout from a woman. I raced towards her direction and I saw my mate being pinned down by a rogue. He was about to pounce her when I charged and thus I thrown him off of her. His body went flying and he dropped on the ground with a loud thud. I bared my fangs and looked at the wolf. How dare he touch what is mine?! My blood boiled inside of me and I see red in my vision. I charged towards the rogue which was standing now and is ready to fight me. We snapped our fangs on each other. I pounced him and bit his neck hard. I heard some snapping of his bones and I know that I hit him critically. I dropped his lifeless body on the ground and looked back at my mate who was watching me with her eyes filled with fear. I know that I might look horrible as of the moment with my bloody form. I walked towards her and she backed away. I stepped closer towards her and I saw her closed her eyes tight, afraid that I will hurt her. I shifted not minding my nakedness to be exposed. It is dark in here so I know that her eyes will not wander around, not that I mind if it does though. I wiped my mouth first and her her shoulder causing her body to shake. “It’s alright love. You are safe now,” I said softly and slowly she looked at me with her eyes that was full of confusion but shone brightly like the moon. “You… how… Alpha,” she stuttered while pointing her trembling finger on me. “It’s me. Don’t worry. You are safe now. Now, we need to go bac to the territory. No one can harm you there.” “Don’t tell me that ridiculous matter. No one can hurt me? But I see that I am like a weak rat ready to be squished if ever. You are a beast and I am sure just like everyone else there!” she angrily snapped. I growled a little bit at her ‘beast’ comment. It hurt me and my wolf. I know that she’s a human that is why everything she sees here are all out of the ordinary. “I will make sure that no harm will come your way. I will explain everything to you but please, trust me this time. We need to go back now. The place outside the border is dangerous as there are a lot of rogues wandering around. Don’t be afraid. I’ll shift now and you will ride on my back so we can go back faster.” I take a deep breath and concentrated on shifting. I heard a few cracking of my bones as they realigned. I looked at her and I told her to climb to my back using gestures – that is pointing my snout towards my back. She reluctantly did what I told her and she held tight on my fur. I can feel my wolf enjoying every second as our mate’s body is closse to us. “Why, are you not enjoying this?” asked Zoren, my wolf. I just rolled my eyes on him and sprinted in full speed. I can tell that my mate is a little bit scared of me moving too fast as I felt her hugged me tight. The weres on patrol bowed their heads as I passed by them and I mind-linked them that I am with my mate so that they can recognize her. I continued to run until we were in front of the pack house where I let her climb down. I did not shifted because the lights here are so bright. I guided her until we reache don the fifth floor where our rooms are situated. Now, another problem is how to open the door in wolf form. I don’t want to shift just yet. I whimpered a little bit and she looked at me, figuring out what is wrong. I pointed the door using my snout and she got the idea of opening the door. When my door swung close, I shifted and went straight to looking for my clothes. “Faster i***t! You don’t know if mate is okay. Hurry!” says the nagging Zoren. “I am doing this fast. You are just paranoid. She will not go away,” I rebutted but he just blocked me. Great! I knocked on her door three times and she opened it and let me inside her room. I looked at the window and noticed that she locked it already. She sat on the edge of the bed while I sat on one of the sofa seat near her. “Why did you went out?” I asked first thing. She just bowed her head in guilt and looked away. We stayed in an overwhelming silence until she broke it. “I just need to. I know I don’t belong here. I am so sorry for causing you so much trouble and I owe you my life. But you know, I clearly wrote in on…” “Your pathetic letter? I can’t get it.” “I need to go back to where I came from to investigate the death of my parents. I just can’t stay here and let the case be. I need to find out the culprit to serve the justice they deserved for their deaths. I will forever be indebted to them.” “I know that you have your personal life however, you must understand that you are in danger out there. My Beta, Hyden, told me that you said that the Police are after you. What will happen to you when you go down there? They will catch you then end of the story. Tho you are not yet proven guilty of the crime that they charged the possibility of being convicted is high since you ran away. You can’t serve justice while being in a prison cell.” “I guess I was cursed. I don’t really understand why I should suffer like this. Of all the people in the world, why me?” “The world has reasons far more ridiculous than what you may think. I can let you stay here. This is where you belong now.” “I am not like you,” she said, horrified by the idea of being the same as me which bruised my ego a bit. “You may not be but you are my mate.” She looked at me like I was an alien talking to her. She raised her left brow and tilted her head slightly. “Mate?” she asked. I can feel my wolf being giddy when he heard her say ‘mate’. “Yes mate. Remember human, they have their destined other half on the right time. We have that too. A bond that was a gift by the Goddess herself. The other half of our soul and you turns out to be my mate. It is fated and it is bound to happen. I have been looking for you all my life and you are hear now.” “I still can’t get it,” she said. I sighed in defeat. I know it will take time before everything sinks in on her brain so I will just give her time to digest everything. “It’s okay. I don’t expect you to take all the information all at once. I will leave you now so you can rest. I know that you have been shaken from the turn of events. But please stay here. Promise me that you will not go out of your room. I will see you tomorrow.” She just nodded her head and I silently went out of her room to give her privacy.
