Chapter 10 (Tour)
EVIARAH
It’s been two weeks since I last came here in this territory. I have learned the ways on how they live. As a matter of fact, they live just like us humans so I never had a hard time trying to fit in. They use gadgets and teachnology in their lives which is cool. In the past few days, I have been sticking around in two places – my room and the kitchen. Sometimes, I stay in the living area if Zevara is here.
“Hey, what are you cooking?” asked Mon as he came inside the kitchen. I have been calling him Mon since then and I never heard him complained about it though.
“I just fried some eggs and bacon. Do you want something else?” He just shook his head and smiled at me.
While we were eating (if you are wondering where is Zevara and Hyden, they are at their own home) I noticed that he keeps on glancing at me.
“Do you want to say something? I see you looking at me.”
“Are you busy?” asked he. He shoved a piece of bacon in his mouth and looked at me like he’s silently pleading for a no.
“I don’t have anything to do. Why? Is there something I need to do? Work?”
“No. I just want to tour you around. You’ve been inside the pack house for too long. I want to go outside with you.”
I just simply nodded my head. Maybe this is a perfect opportunity to know his turf better. I finished eating my breakfast and I went back to my room to take a bath and get dressed. After I wear a t-shirt and pants, I tied my hair in a ponytail and I went out. I saw Mon waiting outside my room. He smiled at me like he used to and we started to go downstairs.
When I was already outside, I felt the morning sun kissed my skin. Its warmth gives me a feeling of hope and happiness. For once, I felt like I need to accept whatever my fate is. I believe that I can be happy again. I know that my parents will be happy when they can see me cope up with my fear and grief.
As we walked on the stone pathway, I looked around the area. There are smaller houses here but they look beautiful too. There are small huts across the area with straw roofs and a lot of children was running around. This place is really amazing. When we reached the wide open field, it is as wide as two soccer fields combined, I saw a lot of weres training.
“Welcome to the training field. This is the place where teenagers go to train. Even the adults are often here. Those are the obstacles that they try everyday,” Mon explained pointing four obstacles that I don’t know what for.
“What does those obstacles serve? Why four?” I just really can’t find it in my brain why there is a need to have four of them. And each obstacle looks different.
“As you can see, those four obstacles have goal. One, we can improve our strength. Two, that obstacle improves our agility. Third one is for endurance and last one is for speed. Though we use the forest to test out three of the skills and then we use the colloseum for sparring, you know to improve strength. Yearly, we send trainees to the camp to train with the other packs. Those who are willing can go there.”
“So, camp is sort like a school?”
“Hmm… something alike but there we just train.”
“Do you perhaps go to school? You know, for education or you don’t need it anymore?” I asked. I am so curious about that too. They are one of those people or should I say creatures that is unknown to public.
“We do. We go to school. Here in our pack, We have kindergarten and elementary school. On the neutral land, there is a school built for us weres. It was there a few hundred years ago.”
Wow! I never thought that they are just like us humans. But I think they are much organized a nd disciplined. Now, I really realized why humans are sangerous creatures even without super stregth or abilities like other creatures. Our brain judges so fast without knowing the whole truth and our brains is more dangerous than we can ever think of.
“What’s neutral land?”
“A place or land where no pack owns. It is no one’s territory so we can access it without going bloody. You see, us were are very possessive and territorial.” Now I get it. Just like animals in the wild, they protect their land even if it leads to a bloody war. Being the top predetor in the chain, it is their nature.
“Ahh… so what about college? Do you have universities here?”
“Nope. We usually go to normal human universities. There are weres who are half human and not full blooded ones. They own some universities and we arrange everything. Most wolves that go to college have their own block depending on how many of them enrolled. By then, we have full control of our wild so we can act normal around normal people. We control our emotions because it triggers our wild to come out.”
It must have been hard for them to do that. I mean, when I was in college there were these mean girls who keep on pestering my life and I can’t help but to get mad at them. If that happens to weres then it will be hard for them not to react really.
We walked for a bit and we stopped in a large colloseum. I can say that the structures of this place are well made. The artistry and designs are amazing. It is like I entered the ancient times but with a touch of modernity. I looked around and I saw the… is these called bleachers too? I don’t know but I am talking about the rows of ascending seats. This place can hold thousands. I bet it cost millions just to get this place done.
“Wow! This place is amazing,” I can’t stop my words from spilling. I saw him smiled proudly.
“My grandparents had this built. I’m happy that you liked it. Although I just had a little renovation here by putting lights and leather on those chairs. I also had that glass dome placed as a roof so that we can hold events here, rain or shine.”
A few moments later, we were already outside when he looked at me with uncertainty.
“Do you want to go to the forest? Zoren would love to run,” he said while smiling sheepishly.
Zoren? His wolf wannts to have fub? By that thought, I can feel something inside me stirred and I felt excited to play with his wolf as a sign of gratitude to him for saving me that night so I nodded without a seccon thought. He went inside a hut and leter then, I saw a humongous grey wolf walking towards me.
“Zoren?” I called it but my call turned into question.
Zoren went in front of me and nudged my thigh. I smiled and patted his head. What a beautiful creature he is. His fur is so soft and fluffy and he feels so warm under my touch. I guess he was happy with what I am doing as he closed his eyes to feel my hand even more. Zoren lay down and nudged me to ride on his back like what he did last time and I happily climbed on his back and held on his fur.
He started running and I can feel the humid air blowing directy on my face, sending my hair on my back and I can feel the air on my skin. I held on him tighter as he started to enter thee forest and run without a pause in full speed but still manage to dodge all the trees coming on our way.
The run with him was so refreshing that when I set my foot on the ground, I can’t help myself but to hug him so tight. He made me feel so so happy today. I even forgot when was the last time that I’ve been happy and carefree like this. Only then when I realized where arre we. We are situated on the top of a plateau and the river below it glistens under the sun so it sparkled like diamonds before my eyes. Woah!! This place is heaven.
“Thank you so much for bringing me here, Zoren and Mon. Thank you so much for showing me this paradise. I’m so happy. I admit, I have never been this happy and carefree. Is this your secret haven?” I asked and I looked at Zoren who looked at me with happiness dancing on his green eyes.
“I guess it is. It’s so sad I can’t talk to you or understand what you want to say. I am not like your people who can have mental telepathy with you. I guess this is the downside of being a human, no?”
Zoren went to my side and nugded me with his snout. I smiled at him and then he sat next to me. Since he is taller than me, I let my head fell on his shoulders and I leaned my body on him. Moments later, I guess he understood my gesture so he lay down on the grass and slightly tugged my shirt. I happily smiled at him and I made him my pillow. My head sunk in his fluffy fur and we were lying down on the ground silently as we enjoyed the cool breeze.
I saw the thick foliage of the trees here in the forest and I can see the birds that were perching on the branches that they made their home. I don’t mind being Mon’s mate and all. I think he deserves to be loved too. I can see that he is only using his cold aura as a façade to his kind and loving heart. But I just don’t think that this is the right time to open up to him. I still need to make sure that my parents will have the right justice served for their inhumane death. I will make sure to have it no matter what the cost is.
