Chapter one.

Endrei’s POV: The evening breeze was soothing on my skin, it helped me totally relate to the female protagonist of the book I was currently reading. She was outspoken, outgoing, and most importantly, she was beautiful and confident in herself. The way she tells the male protagonist off is soothing, the guy is an asshole who thinks he is the moon goddess’s gift to the werewolf clan. It's fiction I know, but he was an ass. Just that simple. Something vibrated and my thoughts were disrupted, my concentration effectively broken. It was my alarm, and it was saying that it was time to go home. With a sigh I stretched out myself. Guess we would continue at home. I picked up my things which were not much if I was being honest. My family was not exactly rich but we could not be classified as poor either. We were comfortable and we never had a reason to go hungry, our side of town was the shitty part when looked at from the outside. But we were happy as it was. Here there was real love between the families, there was no room for unnecessary competitions. We leave that to the warrior pack. Here is a little history about us. According to the stories I have personally read and researched on, the Alpha King in times past was in need of an elite pack of warriors, hence the Blaze warrior pack was created. No one was allowed in if you were not a warrior or if you lacked the potential to be a warrior. And they had one assignment, to be at the beck and call of the alpha king and to annihilate his enemies. Just like humans have armies at their disposal. So what started out as a handful of warriors soon grew into a full blown pack, seeing as the warriors were too rough around the edges the alpha king soon relocated a vulnerable pack to be on their outskirts with strict instructions on their role to the vulnerable pack. Guess which part me and my family are on? Exactly, on the vulnerable pack side. Even though I was born here, as well as my parents. We have never been allowed into the warriors grounds, the few that went have never been heard of again. Or so they say, I think they tell us these things as teenagers to discourage any adventures. Well I have never had any interests in adventures, books always tell them better. So once I passed the age to be forced to interact with people my age I was left alone to my blessed devices, just as I like them. “Hey mum, hi daddy.” I greeted my parents as I stepped into the house and went to hug my dad first. He gave me one of his famous bear hugs and I smiled into his chest. With a peck on mum’s cheek I retired to my room to go and wait for my siblings who are sure to return with a hurricane of activities I would be forced to attend. Here I was a twenty year old she wolf without a mate or a pup. Yes, yes, I did everything they said I should do. I dressed pretty, did feminine things, I attended the mating balls and took part in all the rituals they prescribed. It did not take long for them and myself to accept the truth glaring at us. My mate did not exist in the pack and it was a beautiful thing that I was not the only one like that in my pack. “Look sis! This was left on the school notice board and the radios have been going bonkers all day!” Lucy my sister said as she barged into my room without knocking as usual. We have had serious fights about that and we would still have serious fights about it in the future, starting now. “The door is closed for a reason Lucy, you knock then you come in. That is basic manners.” I said to Lucy who rolled her eyes and dropped the sheet she had in her hand without responding. I sighed and picked it up, I choked on air as the words blended into one another. The Blaze warrior pack in accordance with the Alpha King’s decree were hosting a mating ball and every werewolf, male or female, mated or unmated were to compulsorily be in attendance. What exactly did they mean by mated or unmated? Were they planning to break up homes that have already been established to satisfy whatever this was about? Then it dawned on me, I was qualified to attend. And Andre, my brother who turned eighteen last week, also qualified to attend. Just great, there goes my nonexistent weekend plans. And why did it have to fall on the night of the full moon? This really sucks. “So Endrei, guess we are going to be attending this thing after all.” Andre said as he stepped into my room. I did not blame his excitement, he was always the one that was adventurous. I did not harbor such thoughts. “Yes Andre, I guess we are attending this thing. I wonder what I would wear though.” I said to Andre who just shrugged his shoulders. This was why I never went anywhere, choosing clothes was a big problem and I certainly did not have a fashion sense. Mum was going to have to deal with this. My phone suddenly began ringing and I turned to see it was Makayla calling me. With a sigh I swiped on my phone to answer it. “What?” I screamed when I heard what she had to say.
