Prologue
“Thank you again Mrs. Mercer.” The Woman with Platinum white hair and purple eyes, of Asian descent, Specifically Japanese. The woman tucked both children close to her one with her own purple eyes, though he had his father’s brown hair. The other a Blonde-haired Blue-eyed child. Like the other Women ‘Mrs. Mercer’, though she had the freckles of her red-haired father.
“Of course, I know it is rare, but the school is the best and if she can go, I would like her to go.” Mrs. Mercer answered.
“I will give you a call once we know the answer.” The Asian dipped her head in fair well and headed down the steps.
“Goodbye Zander, Goodluck Kensleigh.” Mrs. Mercer called after both. Zander smiled and called back, “She doesn’t need luck Mrs. Mercer she has us.” He spoke as if there wasn’t anything to be concerned about which made the woman smile Fondly before heading back inside.
Getting both kids into the car was easier said then done both preteens were practically shaking with excitement.
“Okay it’s about a 4-hour drive there so I brought snacks for the trip, and movies for you two.” The woman spoke smiling at the two in the rear-view mirror.
…
The place they arrived at was massive building like a castle nothing around the building. It stood almost intimidatingly quiet; the grounds well kept vines climbed walls aging the building further. Mrs. Whitlock exited the car followed by the 2 in the back scampering out.
“Let’s get going we shouldn’t keep Kyris waiting I’m sure Jaxtyn and him have places to be.” She spoke heading for the doors. The kids followed trying to look around and keep up. Mrs. Whitlock heard the duo discussing things to do when they both get to go to the school and found herself almost praying it were true. Entering a classroom, it was empty, Save for 2 individuals. One with short messy dirty blonde hair and mix matched eyes one a shade of brown the other green. He was sat scouring over pages of paperwork. Red pen in hand. The other was… immensely beautiful he had skin that was like a dolls, without flaw large green eyes that slanted down at the inner corners. Tall and lithe frame he had long blonde hair tied up, beads, and ribbons braided into his hair. Long pointed ears, he regarded them gently.
“Hello, In’ Liet.” He spoke softly gesturing them to him. They knew the elf was harmless, so they were more then okay with getting a close look. Walking forward.
“In’ Liet?” Kensliegh tilted her head.
“’In’ means One, ‘Liet’ means Little together it is Little one in my tongue.” He spoke softly and first reached for Zander’s Hands. “Hold up your hands. Palm down for me.” He instructed guiding him into place. “Liderun.” That work was clearly a word of appraisal his smile a giveaway.
“You may feel a rush of cold or heat, either are a good sign, I am going to attempt to interact with your soul and see if it is reciprocal.” He explained. If it can Split, it will either refuse or accept my attempt. If neither happens then you are no hunter.” He explained his hands slid under his palms palm to palm with about 4 inches between.
“Okay, I’m sure I am a hunter so I am not worried.” Zander beamed.
“I would expect no less from the son of the Headmaster.” The elf Kyris half teased. Magic began to flow white light traveling from Kyris into Zander. The room fell silent, even Jaxtyn paused to watch the test. Despite Zander’s big talk even he looked nervous as he waited. Then the magic retracted back into the other.
“Congratulations, you are accepted.” Kyris smiled stepping back. Zander let out an excited shout and leapt at his mom who hugged him.
“Good job sweetie you are going to be a wonderful hunter.” She cooed running her fingers through his hair.
Kyris now faced Kensleigh she looked extremely nervous which made his smile soften and he took her hands gently guiding her a bit away from the others. “Are you nervous?” He asked her and she nodded fidgeting.
“Zander’s Mom is a Yuki Onna, Neither of my parents are anything…” She answered, Kyris hummed having her sit on a chair he crouched down to face her.
“If you aren’t a hunter, you came here, trusted me and even followed me. Many humans wouldn’t go this far. You are open and accepting that is incredibly important. You may find your journey as a hunter ends today, but you can still champion our cause.” He reassured her and she nodded.
“I will, if it means I can still be friends with Zander.” She smiled somewhat and Kyris laughed.
“Not so fast In’ Liet We haven’t even tested you.” He stopped Kensliegh before she could go to far with her newfound goal. She flushed embarrassed and nodded. She held out her hands complying and stood back up. Kyris followed. And the room went dead silent no words no noise nothing. All eyes watching intently. The magic began to flow and Kensliegh shut her eyes nervous, only to snap them open wide as a chill swept through her. Her eyes shot wide eyed to Kyris, watching him closely, his eyes were closed focusing.
Then he with drew smiling down at her. “Congratulations Your soul has split you are a hunter.” He messed with her hair, and she beamed jumping at Zander. Both jumped up and down in excitement. Kyris chuckled and walked to his Soul Mate.
“Here their acceptance letters.” Jaxtyn handed the Paperwork over to Kyris. Taking them, he signed off on the verification and then they were slid into vanilla envelopes and handed to Mrs. Whitlock.
“Thank you, this is wonderful news.” Mrs. Whitlock was smiling proudly and shook Kyris’s Hand.
“Of course, Kikuko.” Kyris answered and showed them to the door. He smiled to the kids. “You better behave, I want to see you sat in these seats in 6 years.”
