CHAPTER 16 Present: Jeff ran to Tami's unconscious body. He checked her pulse and her breathing. They were both steady. He slung his gun over his shoulder and hoisted her into his arms, carrying her towards the car. “I will take her Klaus said taking Tami from Jeff. “Go deal the monkey bastard a good blow.” Jeff nodded as he let Tami's body slip into Klaus' arms. He kissed her forehead. “Thank you” Jeff turned around to face the monkey devil who gave his life hell for the weeks he had kept Tami. He walked to where Steve and other men stood looking down at the non-submissive enemy, who did not know how to simply surrender. Jeff looked at the man in pity as he stepped closer to him. “You killed my mother and you will pay” He said with a smile, “This will not end here” "I did not kill your mother" Jeff shouted punching the man down. “As at when she died, I stopped killing women and children at least personally.” “Liar!” Jeff was tired already and just wanted to clear the air and be with Tami. “Si la matara, lo recordaría porque recuerdo cada detalle de las personas que mato. La forma en que el brillo en sus ojos muere una vez que los mato.(If I killed her I would remember because I remember every detail of persons I kill. The way the glint in their eyes die once I kill them.)” Jeff replied in Spanish “As much as I pity you, you hurt my heart and my mind. Mono diablo, you are going to suffer, you are going to wish death would come your way.” “Keep him!” Jeff stated “I will deal with him when I am ready.” Steve nodded “What about Romero?” "Let him go, I am feeling generous today" Jeff replied as he walked to his car ready to get to the hospital and meet up with Tami. “The hospital” Jeff said to his man in the driver’s seat The Inferos was always prepared, they had everything set out for when they perpetrated their crimes. There was the assassins, the real criminals and then the clean-up crew, they handled the aiding and abetting. The clean-up crew consisted of Doctors, lawyers, policemen and politicians all trained by the Inferos and under their payroll. The drive to the hospital was long and seemed unending. Jeff shredded his gloves, mask and gun as they stopped in the hospital parking lot. Jeff walked through the front doors and Klaus was there sitting down in the waiting room. “Klaus” Jeff called walking up to him “How is she?” “I don’t know yet” He replied “Doctor Ross is not out yet.” Jeff sighed as he sat down running his hands through his hair continuously. “Klaus!” Both Jeff and Klaus went to the doctor. She was a tall beautiful yet plump blonde with curves even the white doctor's jacket could not hide. “Jeff” she greeted with a nod “Let’s talk in my office.” They followed her to her office. “I am guessing this is the syndicate s**t” Doctor Ross stated “Related” Jeff replied “Is she going to be fine?” “Yes” Doctor Ross answered “She had a few broken ribs and just some swelling, no internal bleeding and surprisingly the baby is fine” “What?” Jeff asked “baby?” “You did not know she was pregnant” Doctor Ross asked surprised herself “No” Jeff replied as a smile formed on his tired face. “Are you sure they a both fine?” “Yes.” She replied “But I will run some more tests to be sure she is fine.” “Congratulations Jeff.” Klaus said patting his friend on his back. Jeff could hardly contain his glee, it showed all over his face. “I have another good news Klaus.” Doctor Ross said turning to him with a smile. Klaus and Jeff did not need a shrink to tell them what the smile meant. Cod was awake. “When did it happen?” Klaus asked “About a week ago but we had to keep him under surveillance that is why I did not tell you” Doctor Ross replied “Luckily he has no signs of amnesia but he still shows signs of chronic mood swings which would change as time goes.” “Can we see them” Jeff asked “You can see Cody but you cannot see Tami Jeff” Doctor Ross replied “Why?" Jeff asked as a frown took over his features. “Because she does not want to see you” Doctor Ross said plainly, “she told me specifically not to let you in.” “I want to see her Sydney, I am not talking as your client but as your Supreme” Jeff called her first name, hoping the respect that came with his position would get him in. Doctor Ross sighed “Jeff as a doctor I have to meet my patient’s needs and put them first” “You are an Inferos doctor and you will put the syndicate first” Jeff replied using all his options right now just so he could see Tami. “This is more of a personal issue than a syndicate issue” Doctor Ross replied sternly “and I know the nature of my job when it comes to the assassins but at this point I am drawing a line, you can’t see her.” “Please” Klaus simply said to Doctor Ross. He understood what it would mean for Jeff not to see Tami. “He has gone crazy for weeks being without her and now he has her he needs to see her.” Doctor Ross sighed as she looked at Jeff. He was frowning but under that frown, you could see the worry and stress he was under for this woman. “Fine” Doctor Ross stated “You've got twenty minutes. I will be counting.” “Thank you” Jeff said to Klaus as he buried his face in his palms. He was too tired for this. ☆☆☆ Jeff closed the door to Tami's ward behind him as he stepped into the room. “Tami” Tami turned to him. He looked her over, even with the bruises and band aids wrapped around her, she still looked beautiful. “I told them not to let you in but then again, the leader of the Inferos Assassin's gets his way.” Tami sighed “Why don’t you want to see me?” Jeff asked the pain was evident in his words. “Cause it’s hard to” Tami replied “The events of the past weeks have opened my eyes to a different view” she sighed “I am pregnant Jeff.” “I know the doctor told me.” “Of course she did.” Tami sighed “Well I was locked up with a kid he was barely eleven, and he has been scarred by such an experience. I decided I do not want that for my child.” “What are you saying?” Jeff asked “We are over Jeffery.” Jeff could not believe his ears. She was pulling his legs or she was having a concoction, he refused to believe that Tami was calling them off. “You father has been calling, I never answered, I will tell him the police recovered you and when you get better we will go home and talk this out.” “There is nothing to talk about Jeff” Tami replied “We are done. It’s so hard to say but it has to be said.” ☆☆☆ Past: Jeff looked into the mirror as Klaus adjusted his tie. Jeff smiled at himself as he bit his lip, he was so nervous about this but he had waited two years and six months to be sure Tami was the one and she was his perfect fit. The ying to his yang. “Is this how nervous you felt when you asked Cody to marry you” Jeff asked “Yes but to bad I did not ever get my answer” Klaus replied as sadness washed over his features “He told me he would tell me that night over dinner but....” “He's going to wake up Klaus” Jeff assured "God willing" Klaus replied Jeff's phone rang and he picked up the call. “That was Zoe, Tami's step mother they are coming up the elevator.” He said to Klaus “I will tell everyone to hide” Klaus replied with smile and friendly tap "You got this" “Yes he does” Carter said coming into the room “Just last week we were reuniting and now you about to propose with a police escort.” Carter was a few inches shorter than Klaus and he was the perfect model brown skin man. He has looks like a celebrity and the body of a lifeguard parked with his comedic wits. He was a friend never to leave. Klaus laughed rolling his eyes. “I can't help it if I am a proud man” Carter joked “My man about to settle his ass down. I am happy we met up again so I could see this happen” “You two need to get p*****s” Steve said coming up into the room “talking like females” “It’s called bro love my man” Carter replied as they all laughed. Jeff looked into the mirror one more time. It was time to put a ring on such a loyal woman's finger. She was the perfect example of ride or die and he had to stake his claim before another person did. Tami pushed open the door to her home as Zoey followed behind her. “Best movie ever” Zoey chimed Tami laughed switching on her lights. She paused in shock as she saw Jeff kneeling in the middle of the room with a velvet box and the most beautiful ring peeking out the top. She could not believe her eyes. “Tami Rashidi, you are the most amazing woman alive. You are strong and beautiful and kind of demented” They both chuckled “but I love you and I want to wake up to your beautiful face every night and day” he took a deep breath “Will you do me honour of being my wife? Tami without you I am incomplete and insane” Tami just stood there quiet looking at Jeff. She was did not know what words to say or what decision to make, but she knew the decision she preferred.
