Work was really stressful and tiring. With lurking unattended files and the attended ones too. L Everything just seemed to be so straining and time?, very slow.
Very unusual,Tyron kept checking the time as he just couldn't wait to be home. He was the boss and could just pick up his bags and head home without anyone questioning his decisions, but not only was he a boss, he was a diligent and competent one who led by example so that none of his stafe would have an excuse for incompetency.
He sluggishly picked up the project he had started looking at and tried to make sense of it but all to no avail. He had to many things going through his mind and the thought of getting a wife was definitely in majority. He lingered in his thoughts a little longer and as soon as the clock struck 5pm, he picked his belongings and headed home to continue his day work at home.
Tyron laid the coat in a double fold and leaned back against the couch. There was a whole lot of work pressure in the last few days, and topping that was Granddad's will, which lingered in his mind again and had him stressed and really pissed again. He still couldn't fathom what exactly his grandfather meant by that severe punishment of a will. But still he had to shove it aside cause he didn't like anything interfering with his work.
"A coffee for my sweet daddy”. Tyron slightly raised his eyes to his daughter, who stood there with a cup of coffee, Mary close behind her.
He smiled at her with so much admiration. Most times he wondered who little Aby took her kind hearted spirit from cause she was so kind and caring for a five year old.
She carefully brought the cup forward, with so much attention paid to each and every step she took as if she were operating on an open organ. She was so cautious to reaching the table without a spill as she had been practicing it for a while. She was a little perfectionist just like her dad
"That's so sweet! Thank you my darling " Taking the cup from her hand, he placed it on the table beside him. "Your just too sweet my baby" he said caressing her fluffy cheeks and smiling as sheepishly as he could. One seeing him at that moment would swear to their self that he wasn't the fierce looking man he portrayed himself to be. He loved his baby girl so much
"You can go now. I'll take over from here" he ordered Mary.
"No son,it's okay, I'll wait." Mary replied as she struggled to sit at the chair at the entrance of his home office. "She's a handful and could disturb your work." she added.
Mary had been Aby's nanny ever since she was born and the only true woman Aby has truly known.
She was a woman in her early 60s and at some point in Tyron’s life, taken care of him.
She had been with the family through thick and thin and was no respected and seen as a member of the family.
Being with them for over twenty years, she knew each look and creaky of their house and lives at large. She had always been there for him, treated him like her own and loved and seved their famiy almost all her life. If he trusted any person with Aby more than himself, that would be her.
"It's fine, Mary" he insisted. "You should call it a night. You too need to rest as you've had Aby all day and like you said, she's a handful. I got her now" He convinced her meaning every word he said. Although very reluctantly, she nodded.
"Goodnight, dear." She struggled to stand again.
"Goodnight." He replied with a warm smile.
Nodding, she walked away, leaving them alone to each other's peaceful company. Only Aby had the power to ease some of Tyron's stress simply by her presence.
"So, will you tell daddy what happened at school?" he asked, combing her hair with his fingers.
"Miss Bella taught us about animals today daddy". She started with so much excitement and light in her eyes as he placed her on his table to maintain eye contact. "And she taught us about reptiles and mammals too" she continued "I ate Nanny's food and it was so yummy and also daddy...." she added needing his full attention this time around without any pause to process her thoughts. “today I made a drawing. Can I show you now" she was very excited
"Tomorrow Baby." He said In a really sleepy tone. He sometimes forgot how energetic his baby could get when talking and he wondered if it was only peculiar to her or that was how other children where.
"Daddy?" she spoke after a a split second . "Tomorrow is a holiday, right?" she asked almost as if she forgot they were in a conversation already. She was hopeful and wanting her dad to not work on weekends too. He couldn't help but feel a little guilty for not giving her more time.
"Yes baby"
Her eyes, which were once gloomy from his earlier response, gleamed with excitement. "Can we go for ice-cream?" She knew he couldn't afford to way no.
"Sure baby, I will take you to the best place for ice-cream" he chuckled as he said it, but a frown came upon her face instead of the smile he was expecting.
"No, Daddy. We will go to Tweat and eat." It took him a second to get the actual word.
"Treats?" he corrected her, to which she smiled sheepishly. He had gathered from Mary that they regularly visited this diner.
"Yes. I want to meet Treasy daddy. I saw her last week." A smile broke out on her face as she mentioned some 'Treasy'
"Who's Treasy baby?"
Immediately, her smile widened. "Treasy is my best friend." The elation in her voice told him that she really liked this person, probably some waitress at the diner.
"Okay, we'll go and meet your friend. Now let's put you to sleep, yes?" He said picking her from his table as she nodded before wrapping her hands around his neck tightly. He had for some split second wished he had let Mary put her to sleep earlier as he had planned his activity before sleeping but still be loved each moment he got to spend with her. To him it was everything.
*************
"Enjoy your meal." Quickly passing a polite smile to the ones seated at the last booth, Treasy walked back to the counter. The diner was quite full. She was about to grab her pad to take another booth when she heard Ava's voice shouting out loud her name
"Treasy!" She screamed loudly every joy could be felt in her voice
The next few seconds were very chaotic. Treasy turned around, and everything happened in a split of a second. Aby colliding with the legs of Emmy another waitress, Emmy losing balance immediately, the glasses of juice she was carrying crashing down on the floor and little spills landing on the dress of a customer.
"What the hell!?" a lady sitting in the adjacent booth shrieked. Treasy's eyes fell upon the lady's dress, which was now a bit spoiled by the drinks. A moment of commotion followed by a second of complete silence ensued.
"I'm sorry, I...." Emmy was cut off mid-sentence by the already boiling customer.
"Shut up! Is your stupid sorry going to get this stain off?" She glared at Emmy before her furious glance settled on Aby, and Treasy's heart skipped a beat.
"And you! Why are you running around?" Aby flinched at her tone, and so did Treasy. The way the lady was glaring at Aby, one would think she was about to get physical.
"I am sorry," Aby softly apologized, blinking through her tears, but that did absolutely nothing to pacify the lady.
"You should be, stupid brat!" Treasy was stunned at how rude she was being to a little girl. She stared quickly to see if she would find a camera because at that point, she was sure it definitely had to be a prank or something. Only that it wasn't.
"Miss, I would request you not speak to a child like that." Treasy pulled Aby to her side, exposing herself to the brunt of the woman's anger.
She narrowed her eyes at Treasy. "Yeah? And how should I speak to her!?"
"I understand you're upset, but this was a mishap. You're scaring her." Bad investment! Every word was falling on deaf ears.
"And who might you be to tell me that?" she barked, almost snapping Treasy's control.
"A reasonable person" Treasy responded with so much boldness. "The same can't be said about you, though." Treasy stared right back at her while a group of teens sitting behind the woman snickered. Was Treasy risking her job here? Probably. Was she impulsive? When was she not?
"How dare you talk to me like that!? And do you not see my dress? This brat just ruined it!" She pointed her finger, glaring viciously at Aby, who flinched and clung to Treasy's side. Treasy was irritated at how impudent the woman was.
She forced a breath out. "It was an accident, a mistake, and she isn't a brat because she just apologized, after which I don't think she deserves these rude words." It would be safe to say this was the nicest way Treasy could have put them together. The thoughts in her head weren't this courteous, though.
"Is this how you treat your customers?....such bad customer service...this place is...."
"I will ask you not to finish that sentence." A smooth, deep voice cut in, the kind that commands the attention of an entire room. As soon as Treasy turned around, the air was almost stolen out of her lungs. She was no stranger to good-looking men, but he would outclass them in an instant.
