Chapter 4: Willa POV Watching my pups grow up right before my eyes has been without a doubt the best part of my life so far. Meeting my mate is tied. The years before Nate are definitely dead last on that list. Daniel, Liza, Lily, and Lina make me proud every day. Daniel with his leadership and strength, Liza with her moxxy, Lily with her intelligence and compassion, and Lina with her resilience. They are all the best parts of Nate and me. I always feared I'd somehow disappoint my mate and children but despite my faults and fears they all look at me with love and adoration. My pack has come to love me too, thank Goddess. After years of callousness and abuse from my birth pack I never thought I'd have a pack that not only treated me well but they accepted and celebrated me as their Luna. I've been told on several occasions if something happened to Nate my pack had faith I could lead them. I hoped nothing would ever happen to my mate before it happened to me but knowing my pack had that much faith in me brought a tear to my eye. "Why the long face, baby?" Nate's strong arms wrapped around me as I stared after Lily. I brought my hand to his arm and traced my finger along the tattoos. She was leaving for school. She had just excitedly told me about a boy she wanted to invite to the birthday party. I gave my blessing. He called them art, the tattoos. My mate was the most beautiful piece of art in my eyes. His eyes, his face, his abs, and his perfect laugh. He was mine forever. Mine to love. Mine to encourage. And mine to hold close for all eternity. "Yo, no PDA in the doorway," we heard from behind us. Matty walked up with Shawna following behind him. We all laughed. Shawna gasped as she clutched her pregnant stomach. "Any day now," she chuckled. Matt wrapped his arms around her affectionately. He had similar tattoos now. Shawna and I had many private conversations about how sexy our mates were. "Did I hear something about a boy?" Nate asked. I nodded, "Lily is inviting a boy from school to her birthday next week." Shawna giggled, "How cute. Could they be mates?" Both men stiffened. What was wrong with these Alphas? We both pulled away. "Stop it, you two. You can't keep Lily a child forever," I scolded. They both sighed. "It's not the kid from the other night is it?" Nate asked. "What kid?" We all three asked in unison. "A boy brought Lily home from the library. She fell asleep in his car. He seemed to be human," Nate said, his voice rigid. I sighed. Nate didn't like any male, human or wolf, near his daughters. "How did a human find us? We are so deep in the woods. And why didn't her guard drive her?" Matt asked. Nate shook his head. "Lily said her guard escorted Alpha Willard because she told him she was safe with the human. I already replaced him with a different warrior. We can't have her security being compromised because guards are making decisions above their pay grade." I glared at my mate. "She made it home safe and sound. No more talk of this, and don't you dare be anything but hospitable when that boy comes to the party." Nate and Matty shared a look but dropped their eyes when Shawna and I gave them a shared look for them to fear. We weren't the anxious scared little mates we used to be. Shawna and I were fierce. We had grown up. We had healed. We had survived.
