Unconventional Love

I always knew that I wasn't related to the people who raised me. My elder brother who looked like the perfect mix of my mom and dad compared to me who looked nothing like them, anyone could spot that I wasn't their biological child, they probably could too but just chose to ignore it. ‎ But the day curiosity overtook and shut down every rational thinking cell in my brain I decided to get a DNA test between my parents and me on my 18th birthday, right before the party started. ‎ Thinking back to that reckless decision I made I realize it was pretty stupid. But the moment I tore open that envelope in my new dress with my sash feeling like the happiest girl in the world my whole world fell apart; my suspicions were true my parents, Thomas and Andrea, were in fact not my biological parents. ‎ The first thought that came to my head was to never let anyone find out about it. As tears slowly dripped from my eyes I began searching for the best method to get rid of it, suddenly my brother, Leonard, pushes open the door and walks into the room about to tell me that the party is about to start, his eyes lands on my face and he sees mascara streaming downy cheeks, fear grips him immediately and he stares down looking at the crumpled sheet of paper that was in my possession. ‎ He walks over slowly and carefully afraid of triggering me and reaches for the paper; I let him have it because there is no way I could hide it from him otherwise he would get suspicious and at the end of the day the truth will still be revealed so I felt it was better to just rip the bandaid off. ‎ He took one look at the paper and I couldn't see any shock in his expression rather his expression remained neutral, calm as if he had been expecting this day sooner or later. He left the room and took the results with him and I was a 100% sure that he took this information to mom and dad. ‎ Fifteen minutes later the music coming from downstairs stopped and you could hear the sound of cars driving away and I just knew that my birthday party was cancelled but honestly I was glad because I don't think that with all I had just found out, I could plant a fake smile on my face while greeting guests around the hall.
