Chapter 35: The Photo
The next morning, Amara woke up earlier than usual. Sunlight entered her room through the window, but instead of feeling refreshed, she still felt the heaviness from the night before. Daniel hadn’t called. It was the first time since he left that they hadn’t spoken before she slept. She tried to ignore the feeling and got ready for class. --- Later that afternoon, Amara sat in the campus library scrolling through her phone during a short break. She opened social media absentmindedly. Then suddenly… she froze. A new photo had appeared on Emily’s page. Amara’s heart began to beat faster. It was a picture taken at a café. In the photo, Emily sat at a small table smiling. And across from her— Daniel. They looked relaxed, almost like they were enjoying a quiet evening together.
