Chapter 14: The Book Café

519 Words
The next afternoon, Amara felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. It was the first time she was going on a real date with Daniel. She stood in front of the mirror in her dorm room, adjusting her hair slightly. She chose a simple outfit—a light sweater and dark jeans. It was comfortable but still nice. “Okay… calm down,” she whispered to herself with a small smile. After taking a deep breath, she picked up her bag and walked out toward the town café Daniel had mentioned. --- The book café was located on a quiet street not far from the university. The outside of the café looked warm and welcoming, with large windows and wooden decorations. Amara pushed the door open and stepped inside. The smell of coffee and old books filled the air. Bookshelves lined the walls, and small wooden tables were placed around the room. Soft music played quietly in the background. It was exactly the kind of place Amara loved. She looked around until she spotted Daniel sitting at a table near the window. When he saw her, he stood up with a smile. “Hi, Amara.” “Hi,” she replied. “You found the place easily?” “Yes,” she said, glancing around the café again. “This place is amazing.” Daniel laughed. “I had a feeling you would like it.” They sat down together, and a waiter soon came to take their order. Amara ordered tea while Daniel ordered coffee. For a few moments, they talked about their classes and the festival from the day before. Then Daniel asked, “What kind of stories do you enjoy writing the most?” Amara thought for a moment. “I like stories about people finding their way in life,” she said. “Stories about emotions and relationships.” Daniel nodded thoughtfully. “That sounds like a story worth reading.” Amara smiled. “What about you? What kind of buildings do you dream of designing?” Daniel leaned back slightly in his chair. “I want to design places that bring people together,” he said. “Libraries, parks, community spaces… places where people can create memories.” Amara looked impressed. “That’s a beautiful goal.” Their conversation continued easily, and time passed quickly. But suddenly, something unexpected happened. A girl walked into the café and stopped when she saw Daniel. “Daniel?” she said in surprise. Daniel looked up. His expression immediately changed. “Emily?” he said. Amara noticed the sudden tension in his voice. The girl walked closer to their table. “I didn’t expect to see you here,” she said. Amara looked between the two of them, confused. “Do you two know each other?” she asked. Daniel hesitated for a moment. Then he nodded. “Yes… we used to.” Amara felt a small feeling of uncertainty grow inside her. Who was this girl? And why did Daniel suddenly look so uncomfortable? The peaceful afternoon at the café had just taken an unexpected turn. 💕📖
