Amara stared at the message on her phone for a moment. Her heart was beating a little faster than usual.
“Hey Amara. Are you free this evening? I wanted to show you something.”
Lily leaned closer, trying to see Amara’s reaction.
“So… what are you going to say?” Lily asked with a teasing smile.
Amara tried to stay calm. “I’ll just reply normally,” she said.
But Lily laughed. “You’ve been staring at the phone for almost a minute!”
Amara quickly typed her response.
“Yes, I’m free. What did you want to show me?”
A few seconds later, Daniel replied.
“It’s a surprise. Meet me by the lake at 6.”
Amara felt a small flutter in her chest.
Lily looked at her with excitement.
“A surprise by the lake?” she said. “That definitely sounds like something romantic.”
Amara shook her head quickly.
“You’re imagining things.”
But deep down, she also felt curious.
---
Later that evening, the sun was beginning to set when Amara walked toward the lake. The sky was painted with soft shades of orange and pink.
The gentle breeze made the trees move softly, and the water of the lake reflected the beautiful colors of the sky.
As she approached the lake, she saw Daniel standing near the shore.
He turned when he heard her footsteps.
“Hey,” he said with a warm smile.
“Hi,” Amara replied.
She looked around.
“So… what’s the surprise?”
Daniel held up a small sketchbook.
“I wanted to show you this.”
They sat on the same wooden bench they had used before. Daniel opened the sketchbook and turned it toward her.
Amara looked at the drawing.
It was a beautiful design of a building beside a lake, surrounded by trees and wide glass windows that reflected the water.
But what surprised her most was something else.
Two small figures were drawn sitting on a bench near the lake.
They looked very similar to her and Daniel.
Amara looked up at him in surprise.
“You drew this?”
Daniel nodded.
“I was inspired after we came here last time,” he said. “This place gave me the idea for a design project.”
Amara studied the drawing again.
“It’s beautiful,” she said softly.
Daniel seemed relieved to hear that.
“I’m glad you like it.”
For a moment, they both looked out across the lake.
The sky had grown darker, and the first stars were beginning to appear.
“I like spending time here with you,” Daniel said quietly.
Amara felt her heart beat a little faster again.
She didn’t know exactly what was happening between them, but she knew one thing for sure.
These moments with Daniel were becoming the best part of her days.
And somehow, every time they met, their connection grew a little stronger. 💕📖
