The next morning, the sky was bright and clear. The campus was already full of students rushing to their lectures.
Amara walked along the pathway, holding her books tightly against her chest. But today, her mind was not fully focused on her classes.
Instead, she kept thinking about Daniel.
Their conversations at the café, the quiet moment by the lake, and the way he had said he was glad they met kept replaying in her mind.
She smiled slightly as she remembered it.
Just then, a cheerful voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Amara!”
She turned around and saw her younger sister, Lily, walking quickly toward her.
Lily had come to visit the university that day because her school was nearby.
“Lily!” Amara said happily.
The two sisters hugged.
“I missed you,” Lily said with a playful smile.
“I missed you too,” Amara replied.
They sat together on a bench under a large tree. Lily looked at her sister carefully, as if she was trying to figure something out.
“What?” Amara asked.
Lily crossed her arms and smiled.
“You seem different.”
Amara looked confused. “Different how?”
Lily leaned closer.
“You’ve been smiling to yourself all morning,” she said. “That usually means only one thing.”
Amara quickly shook her head.
“No, it doesn’t.”
Lily laughed.
“So there’s someone, right?”
Amara felt her cheeks grow slightly warm.
“There’s no one,” she said softly.
But Lily raised an eyebrow.
“Hmm… then who is Daniel?”
Amara’s eyes widened.
“How do you know his name?” she asked.
Lily laughed again.
“You just said it while you were daydreaming,” she teased.
Amara covered her face for a moment in embarrassment.
“He’s just a friend,” she explained.
“Just a friend?” Lily repeated with a playful smile.
Amara nodded.
“We met in the library, and we’ve just been talking sometimes.”
Lily watched her carefully.
“Well,” she said, “from the way you’re smiling, he must be a very special friend.”
Amara didn’t respond immediately.
Instead, she looked up at the sky through the branches of the tree.
Was Daniel really just a friend?
She wasn’t sure.
Their friendship had grown so quickly, and being around him made her feel calm and happy.
But she had never really thought about what it meant.
Just then, Amara’s phone vibrated in her bag.
She took it out and looked at the screen.
It was a message.
From Daniel.
“Hey Amara. Are you free this evening? I wanted to show you something.”
Amara felt her heart beat a little faster.
Lily leaned closer to read the message and grinned widely.
“Oh, this is getting interesting,” she said.
Amara tried to stay calm, but she couldn’t stop the small smile on her face.
Maybe Lily was right.
Maybe Daniel was becoming more than just a friend. 💕📖
