Chapter 5: A New Routine

481 Words
The days after their walk by the lake felt different for Amara. Every morning when she walked across the campus, she found herself wondering if she would see Daniel again. Sometimes she caught herself smiling for no reason, and she knew exactly why. Their meetings slowly became a small part of her daily routine. One afternoon, after finishing her lecture, Amara walked toward the café near the campus gate. The familiar smell of coffee greeted her as she stepped inside. As she looked around the room, she noticed Daniel sitting at a table near the window. A notebook and several sketches were spread out in front of him. He looked focused as he drew something carefully on the page. Amara hesitated for a moment, not wanting to disturb him. But just as she turned slightly to order her drink, Daniel looked up. Their eyes met. His serious expression quickly turned into a warm smile. “Hey, Amara,” he said. Amara walked over to the table. “Hi, Daniel.” She glanced at the drawings on his notebook. “Are those your designs?” Daniel nodded and pushed the notebook slightly closer so she could see. “Yes. It’s a building design for one of my projects.” Amara leaned closer to look at the sketch. The drawing showed a beautiful modern building with wide windows and curved shapes. “Wow,” she said softly. “This looks amazing.” Daniel looked a little shy. “It’s still just an idea,” he replied. “But it’s a really good one,” Amara said. Daniel seemed pleased by her words. “Do you want to sit?” he asked. Amara nodded and took the chair across from him. Soon, the waiter brought her tea, and the two of them began talking again. They spoke about their classes, their assignments, and even the funny moments that happened during lectures. Daniel told her about a professor who once fell asleep during his own lecture, and Amara laughed so much she almost spilled her tea. Time passed quickly as they talked. What surprised Amara the most was how easy it felt to be around Daniel. Normally she was shy around people she didn’t know well, but with him she felt comfortable. After finishing their drinks, they walked outside together. The campus was glowing with the soft golden light of the late afternoon sun. As they walked along the path, Daniel suddenly stopped. “Amara,” he said. She turned to look at him. “I’m glad we met,” he said honestly. Amara felt a small warmth spread through her chest. “I’m glad too,” she replied with a gentle smile. Neither of them realized it yet, but their simple meetings were slowly turning into something important. Something that would soon change both of their lives in ways they had never expected. 💕📖
