The next morning, Amara woke up earlier than usual.
Sunlight streamed through the window of her dorm room, filling the small space with warm golden light. She sat up slowly, still thinking about the conversation she had with Daniel the night before.
His words kept echoing in her mind.
“I think meeting you was one of those moments.”
Amara placed a hand over her chest and sighed softly.
“Why am I thinking about him so much?” she murmured.
She tried to push the thoughts away and focus on getting ready for class. But no matter what she did, Daniel kept appearing in her mind.
Later that day, the campus was lively as students moved from one lecture hall to another. Amara walked across the courtyard with her books, trying to concentrate on the notes she had taken in class.
Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
“Amara!”
She turned around.
Daniel was jogging toward her with a smile.
“Hi,” she said, feeling a little surprised to see him.
“Hi,” Daniel replied, catching his breath slightly. “I was hoping I’d find you.”
Amara tilted her head curiously.
“Looking for me?”
Daniel nodded.
“I wanted to give this back,” he said, holding out a book.
Amara recognized it immediately. It was the novel they had shared the first day they met in the library.
“Oh, thank you,” she said as she took it.
Their fingers brushed slightly again, just like the first time.
Both of them noticed.
For a brief moment, they looked at each other without speaking.
Then Daniel cleared his throat gently.
“Are you heading to the library?” he asked.
“Yes,” Amara replied.
“Mind if I walk with you?”
Amara smiled.
“Of course not.”
They began walking side by side along the pathway lined with tall trees. Leaves moved softly in the breeze, and the sound of distant laughter filled the air.
As they walked, Daniel glanced at her.
“You seem a little quiet today,” he said.
Amara looked ahead thoughtfully.
“I was just thinking.”
“About what?” he asked.
She hesitated for a moment before answering.
“About how strange life can be.”
Daniel raised an eyebrow slightly.
“How so?”
Amara smiled faintly.
“A week ago, we didn’t even know each other. And now we’re walking to the library together like we’ve been friends for years.”
Daniel chuckled.
“I guess life works in interesting ways.”
Amara nodded.
But deep inside, she knew it wasn’t just friendship anymore.
Something new had started growing between them.
And although she didn’t fully understand it yet, one thing was becoming clear.
Daniel Carter was slowly becoming someone very important in her life. 💕📖
