Dmitri cleared his throat uncomfortably as he replied.
"You fired your previous assistant two weeks ago. The replacement was scheduled to start today."
"What was wrong with the previous one?" I asked curiously about recognizing anything about this.
"You never explained your reasoning, sir. You just came in one morning and told her to clear out her desk immediately."
That sounded harsh, even for me as I grimaced. That was too cruel even for me. "And the replacement?"
