chapter 11

Me and Sarah were drinking coffee when Ellara started stirring on the couch. She already looked a lot better than she did yesterday, the hole in her stomach was fixed up. There was no obvious bleeding or trailing organs. “Thank you,” Ellara spoke quietly, but her voice had more strength to it than yesterday. She attempted to stand up but her legs locked up on her and she fell. “Ellara we will make you whole again, but it will take us some time.” We helped Ellara to the couch. “But still. You've done so much for me, even risking prison to protect me when I came from the sky kingdom above.” “That’s another thing.” I said, “we need someone who can get us fake IDs so we can hide from the authorities. They don't know that I've lied to them yet. But I'm sure they'll catch on eventually.” Sarah set down her coffee and sighed. “I know someone who can help. But it will cost us. a thousand credits.” “Psh,” I waved a hand, “I have about that much on my pay card right now. I was actually going to put that money in the bank today.” Sarah stared at me as if I'd just made a pig fly or something. This didn't make any sense. She should know more than anyone. I usually only spend money when I have to, relying on my own physical abilities for electricity. And only buying the basic foods that I'll know I'll be able to eat without it going bad. Speaking of that, I was completely surprised the power hadn't gone out in the house because I haven't ridden the bike in a few days. I immediately went back to the room and started pedalling on the bike. And I could hear the familiar crackling of electricity as the battery setup started to charge. I saw my actual bank card sitting on the dresser, covered in dust and spiderwebs and I wondered how much I actually had in the bank. I figured, probably a lot.
