1. Angel of Death
Bianca's thin face looked sad as she stared at the mound of earth that was still wet. Under the mound of earth lay the body of the woman she loved most. Melisa had just been buried after four months of lying in a hospital ward battling illness and depression.
Her health deteriorated after hearing the verdict about her husband, Richard Kaye, who was sentenced to seven years in prison. Despite Richard Kaye's repeated denials that he had committed the crimes for which he was accused, the prosecution showed during the trial that he had stolen money from the business.
As a wife, she certainly believed what her husband said, who claimed to have been slandered. Finally, her health gave up until Melisa was declared dead yesterday afternoon.
Few people escorted Melisa to her final resting place. People start to stay away from Kaye's family after they get into trouble.
"Bianca, we have to go home. It looks like it's going to rain soon," said Amy, Bianca's maternal aunt.
Bianca took a deep breath. "Yes, Auntie."
Coming home will only make her sad even more. Bianca is the only daughter of Richard and Melisa, and once she is home, loneliness will be her friend.
Before getting into the car, Bianca again gazed at her mother's grave from a distance. Her puffy eyes filled with tears again. Amy knew her niece was crying, but there was nothing she could do but let Bianca express her sadness by crying.
After three days had passed, Amy said that she had to go home and live her life as a wife and mother. She couldn't bear to leave his niece alone, so he intended to invite Bianca to live with her.
"My dear, I heard they are going to confiscate this house," Amy said.
Bianca swallowed the last food in her mouth before answering her aunt's question. She looked into Amy's eyes. "That's how it is."
"Then where are you going? Do you have any plans?"
Bianca shook her head, the shock of her life making it hard for her to think. She thought about her mother's health and went back and forth to visit her father in the holding cell.
"I'd be happy if you'd stay with me. Our house isn't big, but there is still a vacant bedroom in our small house where you can dwell. But how are studies over here?"
"Studying? For now, Bianca has no plans to continue her studies. After that, she had to take time off and raise money to support herself. She also doesn't want to go to college and only to be made fun of because of the case that happened to her father.
Bianca knew Amy was sincerely offering her a place to stay, but she knew how her aunt's husband was. John, Amy's husband, was very rude and had a bad temper. In addition, Bianca also has a cousin named Jeremy, who has recently shown an annoying nature.
After they both grew up, Jeremy showed an unusual attitude. The last time they met, Jeremy pulled Bianca into his arms and was about to kiss Bianca on the lips. Several times Bianca also found Jeremy's eyes roaming her body. Bianca was uncomfortable with Jeremy's attitude.
"Thank you. But I have other plans, don't worry about me!" Bianca replied. She was forced to lie to refuse her aunt's offer.
"What's that?"
Bianca racked her brain to find answers from Amy. She hoped the look on her face didn't make Amy suspicious.
"Oh, that... I'm going to continue my studies here, and I'm going to work part-time. A friend offered me a job at a shop."
"Okay, if that's your decision. If you need help, don't hesitate to contact me," Amy said with a smile.
Bianca is relieved that Amy doesn't compel her to stay at her house. And now she had to think hard and find a way to survive.
A few days after Amy's return, Bianca was visited by three well-built men. They were thugs who had been hired by someone to bully Bianca into leaving her house.
"We've given you a week because your mother died. Now you can't give any more excuses. Tomorrow, we don't want to see you here, or you'll know the consequences," said a man with an angry face.
Before Bianca could speak, another man with a tattoo on his face came up to them. "We could give it a day or two and convince the boss to give you time. It must be hard for you to find a new place to live in a difficult situation."
Bianca was silent, waiting for the man to continue.
"It's easy, and you need to follow my advice. Are you still a virgin?"
"What?" The man's rude remark took Bianca by surprise.
The man sees Bianca from top to bottom. His fingers twitched as he continued to negotiate.
"I have two great options for you. First, you can find a decent living place by coming with me. You've heard of virginity auctions, haven't you? Our boss owns such a business, and I'm sure it won't be hard for you to get a high price. Second, no. too profitable, but you can try to buy time. You need to accompany...."
"Stop! Enough, I don't want to hear it. Tomorrow morning, I will leave this house, so please, you guys, go." Bianca cut him off.
There was no choice other that she had to leave the house immediately. The place where she grew up and had many memories. Even though it's hard, that's what she has to do.
"Hurry up, I promised you guys!" repeated Bianca. She glared at the three men one by one. She tried not to look weak despite the trepidation.
"Okay, sweetie. I hope this time you will keep your promise. Because the offer was no longer there."
After the three men had left, Bianca's body slumped by the windows. She looked out the window on a beautiful afternoon. Unknowingly, spring had arrived, and after what had happened to her, Bianca began to dislike spring.
Bianca took several deep breaths to relieve the tight feeling in her chest. Bianca wanted to cry, but now was not the time to cry over fate. She must be strong to live life, and maybe there are many other surprises she will meet later in life.
Without realizing it was night, Bianca, staring at the window for a long time, immediately closed the house's windows. After that, she has to take a shower and meet Liza, the only friend he has. Tonight will be a farewell night for them before tomorrow morning leaves her hometown.
Bianca chose to walk to get to a cafe located not far from her house. She wanted to remember the path she had walked every day before leaving. Bianca walked away with tears but blinked quickly. She promised not to cry over fate again. However, after arriving in front of the cafe and about to cross the road, suddenly a speeding motorbike from the left was about to hit her. Bianca had no time to run, and the motorbike was close to her body.
Immediately, Bianca's body felt light in the air, but strangely, she wasn't alone. She saw another figure beside her, dressed all in black with copper-yellow eyes.
Could that figure be the angel of death who would take her life?
