“Keep your achievements to yourself and stay low key”
“People hate seeing someone else’s achievements” I said
“Tell me about it!”
“Those f*****g crabs. Instead of lifting you up they pull you down” Teodosia said
“Yeah crab mentality is rampant now a days”
“So it is wise to surround yourself with people that motivate and supports you” I said
“That’s why I am with you” She said then immediately takes it back
I just stare at her with a sharp gaze thinking why did she do that. Then I pull out my phone and check what time it is. It was almost midnight and it looked like I lost track of time.
“Say Teodosia, you know a shortcut back to the boarding house right?”
“You see it’s almost midnight and i still need to wake up early for tomorrow. I was hoping if we could call it a day” I said
“Yeah sure, no problem” She said as she sits properly
She turned on the engine and stepped on the gas. We take an alternate route back at the academy then I remember that I left Vermillion back at the bar. I felt sorry for him, what if he got drunk and couldn't go home. We do have classes tomorrow and it would be bad for his image if he went absent because he partied hard last night LOL
“What’s the matter, Ramon?”
“You look kinda disturb” Teodosia concernly ask
“It’s about Vermillion. I left him back at the bar and he might not make it home”
“It would be bad for his image is this leaks out”
“Please do me a solid and don’t tell anyone about this, okay? Remember that this is just a secret between you and me” I said with puppy dog eyes
“Sure, whatever you say” She said in a teasing manner
I pouted at her thinking she will not keep her promise. It’s Vermillion, the next heir of the Von Dire Clan, the future demon lord of course you want something that puts dirt on his name.
“Should we head back to the bar and pick him up?”
“We could take a short detour so your mind would be at ease” She proposed
“Nah! I think we should go straight ahead I am getting sleepy anyways”
“I’ll just pray for his safety. Hope nothing bad happens to him” I said coz I sense something fishy
I don’t know what exactly but her vibe changed all of a sudden. As if she’s eager or too excited. She steps on the gas and we start to accelerate. We are going so fast that I can’t move my body because of the extreme speed. It feels like my soul is separating from my body. We arrive at the dormitory. I use all my remaining strength just to step out of the car. My legs were shaking and I can feel that I am about to throw up. So this is what motion sickness feels like
“Aren’t you going inside?” I ask
“I need to park my car first” She said then went on her way
I waved her goodbye and stayed there. I watched her move on and wait to see what she’s going to do next. She drove off in the direction which doesn’t lead to the parking lot. Somethings off so I contacted the twins luckily there were still awake
“I need a ride. Now” I ordered
They immediately drop the call. After several minutes the twins came out of the elevator. We all rushed towards the parking lot and hop in their wheels
“What happened Ramon? Why are you such in a rush? Are you in trouble?”
“Yeah you know it’s way past our bedtime” The twins said
“I am not the one in trouble, it’s Vermillion if we won’t stop Teodosia from her brilliant scheme” I said
We all rush to the parking lot and hop on the twins’ ride.
“Floor it!” I shouted and we finally get a move on
We are close at the establishment and I can’t see Teodosia or her car elsewhere
“You go ahead we will just find a parking space” Darryl Lyn said
“Thanks!” I said as I run towards the establishment
The guards chase me down as I climb the stairs. They started shouting which alarmed the bouncers. I stop halfway of the hallway
“Aren’t you the dude that is with Vermillion earlier?” One of the Minator ask
“Yeah!, could you please let me pass?” I said as I look at the rampaging guards climbing the staircase
“Sure! But” They said but I ignore it and just run inside so I won’t get caught
“Thanks” I said as I barge in
Everyone was motionless and were just looking at the top floor. It seems there is a commotion up there. I got a bad feeling about this so I quickly went upstairs to take a look. I saw Vermillion strangling Teodosia. The ladies that are with Vermillion are just sitting there as if they didn’t see anything. The guards that were chasing me halt outside the door, looking like they are all afraid to get mixed up in this mess. Is status really that horrifying that no one would stand up to help a helpless girl in need?
“Vermillion enough!” I raise my voice as I walk towards him with my eyes activated
Vermillion takes a quick look and he gently let’s go of Teodosia then apologizes. Everyone in the room where shock upon hearing Vermillion say such words.
“Let’s go home” I said then grabs his hand and went on our way
People started talking about us and taking pictures. Vermillion was about to harass them to stop but I said it’s fine which made him calm down.
Vermillion still has his sense but I can’t figure out why does he need to strangle Teodosia like that so I ask
“Hey, what happened back there you look pissed?”
“Well that b***h started putting a curse on me. She think that I wouldn’t notice coz I am a bit tipsy right now”
“I caught her her right in the act so I strangled her” He said with a cocky look in his face
“And no one stood up for her?”
“Is status really that horrifying here in the urban?” I ask
“Beats me? Von Dire doesn’t have a competitor after we sweep off Bathala”
“You know the God of the Sky Emre Bathala. Skylia’s father” Vermillion said
“What did you say his name was?” I ask just to make sure I am not hearing things
“Who? Emre Bathala?” He said
“f**k! After all this time Elder was talking about Skylia’s father”
“Who knew the God we revear is the father of the woman I love” a thought inside my head
We step outside the bar and the guards that were waiting for me outside immediately step out of the way
“Come back soon boss!” one of the minotaur shouted
I gave him a thumbs up as we walked down the staircase. On our way down I gave the the twins a call but they are already waiting downstairs
“Can you drive?”
“On second thought you should let one of the twins drive your car” I said
“Here” He said as he hands over his car keys
As soon as we met the twins I tossed Vermillion’s keys and told one of them to drive Vermillion’s car. Cherry Lyn quickly volunteered so we went down stairs. Darryl went on her own way because her car is parked outside. She told us to wait for her near the entrance
“Wow! Nice wheels Vermillion” Cherry Lyn excitedly complemented
“You know how to drive right? If you crash it you pay for it” Vermillion said
Cherry Lyn just laughs at him. She unlocks the door and quickly hop inside
“Let’s go!” She said as she constantly press the horn
“First time?” Vermillion said with a pissed look in his face
“Chill Ver, just ignore her so she won’t get into your nerve”
“She really perfected the art of pissing someone” I said
“HAHAHA! Good one Ramon!” She sarcastically said then rolls her eyes at me
We are all set and as soon as Darryl Lyn passes by we get a move on
This is one hell of a day. The sun will shine soon and I haven’t got a decent sleep yet. I hope Procyon and the others forgive me if I come to school late. I can’t wait to jump on my bed and take a rest
“Hey Vermillion, next time we should eat dinner in my place instead”
“Maybe the night life isn’t just for us “ I said
“That’s what you get when you party without us!”
“Next time send us an invite!” Cherry Lyn teased
“Shut it, fear feaster! We did have fun even without you!”
“Ramon even snagged a chick earlier. Isn’t that right Ramon!” Vermillion said
I just laughed then gave them the cold shoulder.
“This is going to be a long ride home” I said to myself followed by a sigh
