The Third Party

Chapter 12:

When J woke up, he realized that he had fallen asleep in his clothes from the previous night. His pan Sun shirts for laying crumpled in the corner of the bedroom. He went over to them, picked them up including his shoes, threw them in the hamper, put a shoe on the shoe rack and took a shower.

Once he had finished dressing up and combing his teeth, he went downstairs. He made a pot of coffee and sat down on the couch while he waited for it to brew. He put the sound of what steps coming down the stairs. He glanced over, and was startled to see that Anna was standing near the kitchen door.

"Hey," he greeted her. Anna responded, "hi." They stood in silence for several minutes while Jeremy got up and fixed himself a cup of coffee. Anna may I ask you something, "What happened last night?" You just randomly called me and left like you had no intention of talking to me again? Why did you leave me?

Did I do something wrong? "Yes, you did. I just needed space. I needed to think. I needed to clear my head. I needed to get away from you." "Why? What did I do?" "You absolutely f****d up big time. There's nothing else to say," she snapped. "It was nice seeing you, Jeremy." And she left the room.

Jeremy knew that he had messed up bad. He didn't know how to fix it, or even if he could fix it. J had spent hours agonizing over what to do. He wanted to deeply apologize to Anna, to make everything right between them, but he knew that he had to fix their relationship before making any promises.

He decided to wait for her to call him. J talk to himself I wonder if Anna would call me within a few days or another few weeks. He waited patiently for Anna to call but she never did. One day he called her, "Hey Anna, sorry for taking so long. I've been busy with work and stuff. How are you?" he said. "Good. Thanks." "How are you feeling?" "Fine." "Do you wanna talk?" "...No, not really." "Okay. Well I guess I'll see you soon." "Yeah, maybe." "Bye." "Bye."
