Chadwick

Aaron watched her from the top of the building across from her apartment. He followed her from her home looking down on her, just to see where she was going. He jumped effortlessly and glided silently through the air across the tops of the buildings. Cheryl stopped and walked into the dentist's office. “Hmmm, she must work at this dental office.” Aaron squatted down, placing his forearms across his knees. He began watching her through the office’s front window. Since it was dark outside and the lights were on inside, he could see clearly inside. While looking through the window, he noticed someone else was following her. Aaron recognized him, Chadwick, another rogue vampire he met while in England 110 years ago. The scent of her blood must have attracted more than him. Chadwick was rogue, he was careless and always leaves a mess after feeding. Like most, he shreds his victims as he drains the victims of their blood. Aaron wanted her for himself. He jumped off the building, silently floated gracefully down till he was behind Chadwick. Chadwick was around 5’7” long black hair pulled back in a ponytail. He also had a long dark coat on, not dressed as well as Aaron. “Hello Chadwick, what brings you to Manhattan?” asked Aaron. Quickly spinning around to see who spoke to him. “Aaron...how have you been? I haven’t heard much from you lately. Thought you had died.” Laughing, slapping Aaron on the shoulder as he laughed. Aaron didn’t think he was very funny, his own jokes were better. “I was wanting a different flavor, Aaron, so I decided to come back to Manhattan. The people in South Carolina started to taste bland. Nothing worse than bland blood.” His laugh disappeared to a serious tone. “I saw this one, and she just really smells good. I could almost taste her blood from where I stood.” Chadwick pointed to Cheryl through the office window. “She does.....but I have had my eye on her for a few days, so stay away from this one. She is mine.” Giving off a strong aura, letting Chadwick know he was dangerously serious. There are rules for vampires. One rule is to not tread on other vampires not claims. Aaron felt like he claimed her, so Chadwick needed to back off and find someone else. Anyway, Chadwick would just leave her unrecognizable and Aaron felt like she was too pretty and sexy for that. “Oh really, well my apologies.” Pressing his eyebrows together, Chadwick gave a smile that was not sincere and looked like there was a hidden message in that smile. “I guess I shall be going, see you soon Aaron?” Laughing, Chadwick jumped on the brick wall of the closest building and slithered up then disappeared from the rooftop. Cheryl walked to the back of the office and placed the box on the break room table, then went to her station to see the schedule for today. The first patient comes in and sits in her assigned dental chair. Smiling at the patient and doing her usual cleaning while the patient was asking her dental questions and talking about random topics. She stood next to the chair with the patient sitting in it, choosing her tools and turning on the water, but wasn’t listening to what the patient had to say. She was trying to figure out how to pay her rent and utilities. She zoned out and didn’t even realize the patient was looking at her waiting for a response. “Oh, I am so sorry, what was your question?” I asked the patient, but he said, “never mind.” and stopped talking to her. He looked irritated. So, she decided to ask him a few mundane questions just so he wouldn’t feel ignored. Cheryl picked up the water pick to start power washing his teeth. She saw some nasty tarter building up, and it was going to take a minute to remove it. Turning her head to adjust the water, she accidentally moved her hand with the water pic that was facing the patient's face. A blast of water hit his forehead. “What the hell!” he yelled, putting his hand up to guard his forehead from being attacked by the water pick. Cheryl turned her head to see what she did. Gasping, she turned the water off quickly, “I’m so so sorry.” Grabbing a paper towel, she attempted to wipe his forehead but accidentally smacked him in the face with her hand as she spun around on her stool with the paper towel. The patient grabbed her hand and pushed it away. Grabbing his paper bib, he threw it on the floor. “Move, I’m leaving. Did you even go to college for this, or did they hire you off the street?” Mad the patient stood pushing her away on her stool and stomped out. Turning around, he yelled back “Don’t charge me one dime!” He stomped out of the front glass door. The other patients in the waiting room sat there with their mouths open and eyes wide, looking at him, then back to the back. They couldn’t see Cheryl, but they heard her.
