THREE: Instincts and Impulse

960 Words
Every morning in the last five days, the first thought that would come to my mind is of Rain Bowen, and it is seriously freaking me out. I mean, why would I think of him, and why do I seem interested in everything about him? Also, I can't seem to take my eyes off of him whenever he's around. It feels like my senses heighten by two hundred percent that it makes me aware of everything he does or says. And it is f*****g ridiculous. I can't even tell it to any person close to me because it is embarrassing. What if they think I'm gay? "f**k!" I cursed loudly before finally getting out of my bed and into the shower. "Good morning!" I greeted my family cheerfully as I make my way to my seat at the dinner table. "Good morning!" My dad, mom, and Adeline replied simultaneously."You haven't forgotten your appointments for today, right?" My mom asked. Looking hopeful. I nodded and smiled. Today is quite a busy day for me. I need to meet with a lot of people regarding my birthday preparations. My mom wants me to personally deal with it as part of my alpha training in interpersonal skills. This is like studying for a business course at university. The only thing is that what I do is not mocks or trial-and-error. This is the real thing so I need to be careful and careful some more. I lifted my coffee cup and inhaled its aroma but was hit by a different smell. The familiar scent of violets in a thunderstorm, bold and daring but rather sensual. And as if someone shouted my name from behind, I automatically turned to look at the kitchen door. In just a couple of seconds, Rain Bowen appeared with a tray of hot food in his hands. My heartbeat started to pace. 's**t!' I mentally cursed. My mom and dad would hear the sudden change in my heartbeat, and they will surely ask. I pulled out my phone and pretended that someone sends me a message and is reading it as I try to calm myself. I tried my best not to look at Rain Bowen but failed.I immediately scanned him from head to toe. My brows furrowed. He's wearing a similar outfit when I first saw him. Does he not have any other clothes? "Hey, Bowen!" I called his name on instinct. He quickly looked at me with a rather awed but pleased expression on his face. I frowned. 'What's with him?' "Do you have anything to do today?" The question burst out of my mouth without even thinking. Instead of answering, he looked at my mother so I followed his gaze. "Why?" My mother looked at me from Bowen. I shrugged. "I could use some company today." "What about Rich and Fama?" Adeline chirped. "They have things to do." "Let him come, Amy. It's good to show the people that the future alpha does not treat others differently even if they are high-rankers or not. We are all equal here." Dad said in a final tone which somewhat made me feel giddy. I went back to my room after breakfast and brushed my teeth. I faced the full-length mirror and checked how I look. I decided to put on a plain navy blue v-neck shirt tucked in khaki chinos and paired it with brown loafers. I finished the look by donning a khaki-colored fedora hat. After taking one last look, I turned and went out of the room to my SUV. Bowen is already beside the car when I got there. I gave him a once over and sighed. He is wearing, again, an over-sized shirt which is paired with denim pants this time. He seems to have felt my stare so he lifted his gaze and looked at me. His mouth opened slightly after running his eyes from head to toes.I gave him a questioning look which he answered by shaking his head. So I just unlocked the door and told him to hop in. "May I ask why you wanted me to come with you?" Bowen asked while staring at his hands on his lap as I maneuvered the car. I squared my shoulder. "I just want some company. This day could be a little boring." "I see. But you could ask your friends or girlfriend to come. Why me?" I glanced at him but he's still looking down at his hands. "Well, like I said. My friends are busy, and I don't have a girlfriend." I saw his head snap to my direction so I looked at him but he turned away before I met his gaze. "Why? Do you have something planned out for today?" "None. It just doesn't feel right to go with you. The future alpha." "Why?" "Because I am an omega?" He sounded like what he said is something I should naturally know. I tsked. "So what? Does it matter?" He looked at me with disbelief. "Of course." I sighed. A slight feeling of anger rising off my chest. I just can't imagine how he was treated in his previous pack to act this way. "No! It doesn't." I said with emphasis. "In my pack, you can be anyone but still be treated fairly. So whatever belief that is engraved in your mind by your previous pack. Please, try to forget it. It's not the same here." "I know that. I'm sorry!" He said in a very low voice.  I looked at him and saw his face rippled with different emotions.I stopped the car which made him look at me in shock.  "I'm sorry, too for raising my voice. I am not angry with you. I am pissed at your previous pack." He nodded and smiled. And there goes my heart again. f**k! I cleared my throat and gave him a smile and a nod before starting to drive again.
