Prologue
"Brother! Please, enough!" cried a young boy, lying helplessly on the ground, unable to defend himself against the bullying inflicted by his older brother.
His pleas for mercy fell on deaf ears, as Prince William, his older brother, reveled in the sadistic pleasure of torment. Nate, lying defenseless on cold ground, bore the physical and emotional scars inflicted by his brother.
"Weak! Pathetic! You're no prince!" taunted Prince William with a sinister laugh.
"Brother! It hurts! Please, enough!" pleaded the boy, enduring the relentless assault of his brother's magic.
The moonlight cast eerie shadows as Prince William, with a villainous laugh, continued his assault, hurling his powers that glow in the darkness. Nate's body, already marked by numerous wounds, became a canvas of suffering, his clothing was torn and tattered, a stark reflection of the turmoil within.
Challenged to a friendly duel, Nate had hoped for camaraderie, but his plea for a fair match was met with derision and relentless mockery.
"Show me your demonic power! You demon!" Prince William bellowed, deepening the disdain already cast upon Nate by his family.
The fairy realm, revered for its divine inhabitants, regarded Nate's dark magic as an aberration. A light prince wielding forbidden powers that clashed with the essence of their kind. The juxtaposition of a light prince wielding dark magic became a curse that haunted him, alienating him not only from his family but also from his very sense of self.
Nate, disheartened by his brother's cruel words, wept as his family rejected him for the extraordinary abilities he never sought.
Banned from leaving the palace, Nate remained imprisoned in his room, forbidden from harnessing his magical potential. Fearful of the havoc his powers might wreak, his parents sought to conceal the abnormality within the royal bloodline. Nate, once a beloved prince, found solace only in the shadows of his confined quarters.
Haunted by a childhood accident that nearly claimed a servant's life, Nate recoiled from the potential harm that his powers could unleash. The echoes of his family's scorn reverberated in his isolation, a painful reminder of his perceived monstrosity.
"I don't want this! I never wanted this! Please!" Nate implored, met with only laughter from his heartless brother.
"You're an abomination! You need to be banished from this palace!" declared Prince William, conjuring a formidable burst of power aimed at Nate.
Terrified, Nate cowered in the grass, fully aware of the impending danger his brother posed. The magic was about to be unleashed when a sudden shout halted the proceedings.
"Stop it!" Nate turned to Prince Kaizer, their eldest brother. "Save your energy for someone more worthy of it." Nate's hope was shattered instantly.
Kaizer, once the one who cherished Nate the most, had also turned his back when his powers manifested. Feeling unloved and rejected, Nate always questions his place in the palace.
The nightfall brought no solace, and when he was heading to his room, he heard muttering. He peeked through the slightly ajar door into his parents' room and listened to their conversation.
"You want to kill Nate? Your own son?" the queen asked in astonishment, a question that surprised him as well.
His heart quickened at what he heard, but he mustered the courage to remain where he stood.
"I have no demon son. And after all, I'm not doing this for myself; I'm doing this to keep the strong foundation of the palace," the king replied callously.
The entire room fell into silence for a few minutes as Nate awaited his mother's response to his father's statement.
"Then, do it on your own. Make it quick and painless, after all, he is still a boy," answered the queen, a response that shattered Nate's world.
Heartbroken by the betrayal, Nate grappled with his emotions, contemplating escape. His own family, once a source of love, now sought his demise. The revelation that his parents, the very pillars of his world, conspired to end his life shattered the remnants of his shattered heart.
Unable to bear their callous discussions, Nate swiftly ran to his room. Crushed and defeated, he cried, torn between awaiting his tragic fate or fleeing the only home he had ever known.
The weight of rejection pressed heavily upon him, drowning his soul in a sea of tears that flowed throughout the agonizing night. Yet, the sound of approaching footsteps and clinking armor compelled him to take action. He hurriedly opened the window and then hid under his bed.
"He's gone! We need to find him." Upon hearing the palace guards discussing his capture. He faced the harsh reality that even his own elder brother, Prince Kaizer, want him dead as his personal guards were now instruments of betrayal.
In a swift decision, Nate summoned his silver wings, flew out of his room, and soared towards the dense forest on the left side of the palace.
The silver glow of his wings became both a beacon of hope and a mark of impending doom, as he soared away from the palace. Guided by the luminous moon, he navigated the dense forest where danger lurked in every shadow.
Navigating cautiously, Nate found solace in the forest's concealment. His flight, however, met an unexpected interruption, as unseen hands seized him, wrenching him deeper into the heart of the forbidding woods. Screaming, Nate succumbed to the unknown force that whisked him away.
Nate found himself on his knees face-to-face with his assailant. His pleas for mercy transformed into uncontrollable sobs.
"Please. H-Have mercy. Don't kill me. P-Please," he begged.
Within the confines of the forest, Nate knelts before a mysterious figure, his pleas for mercy drowned by the overwhelming sorrow that enveloped him.
"Calm down, Nate! This is your uncle!" The figure, revealed as his Uncle Dew, offered a glimmer of hope in the abyss of despair.
"Please, Uncle! Spare me, please! I didn't do anything wrong! I'll be good! I won't use my power anymore! Please!" Nate begged, his trembling voice echoing in the silence of the forest.
"Calm down! I'm not like them! I will never hurt you. I'm here to help you, Nate! I'm here to take you away from here," reassured Dew, embracing his sobbing nephew. "Let's go away and hide where they will never lay their hands on you. Far away from all the demons in fairies' clothing."
As Nate soared through the moonlit night with his uncle supporting him, his silver wings glistened, and each beat of his wings resonated with the pain of betrayal, the chilly wind carrying whispers of rejection from the family he once cherished.
Dew, with a somber expression, shared tales of the family's ancient lineage, woven with stories of ancestors who grappled with powers deemed unnatural. As the narratives unfolded, Nate grasped the weight of his ancestors' struggles, realizing that his destiny was entwined with a legacy tainted by a misunderstood magic.
He also explained the complex web of politics and fear that compelled Nate's parents to forsake their own flesh and blood. The revelation unfolded like a tragic play, and each word was a knife that pierced through Nate's soul. Nate grappled with the devastating reality of his existence.
Amidst the trees, Nate's silver wings brushed against the leaves, creating a melody of melancholy. His tears, like liquid silver, dripped onto the forest floor, leaving a trail of sorrow in their wake. The night seemed to weep with him, as if the very essence of Denrium mourned the loss of innocence.
The night concealed their departure as they vanished into shadows, leaving behind a palace tainted with betrayal and a prince's shattered heart.
