The drive back home was a silent one. I knew that Arianna was upset with me for what I had just said to her, but I wanted her to be clear when it came to how things would happen between us. I didn’t want her to feel like I had misled her at any point. She had chosen to stay with me even though I had shown her that I only cared about myself and my preservation. If I was going to go down at some point in life I certainly wasn’t going to go down alone.
I knew that she now looked at me as a conniving son of a b***h but I didn’t really care. She was stuck with me for life, whether she liked it or not.
