REMNANTS OF THE PAST
A little child named Vittesh lived in the center of Zyranthia, a magical realm full of fantastical creatures. Vittesh had no magical power at birth, in contrast to his peers who skillfully used their skills. Still, he had a unique personality that was driven by curiosity and resolve. In the midst of others mastering their natural talents, Vittesh took comfort from old books, learning about magic and the workings of superpowers. Amazing natural beauty and dangerous wonders might be found in Zyranthia. Expansive woodlands brimmed with legendary creatures, majestic castles soared into the sky, and vibrant cities hummed with the power of magical infrastructure. One person, the Hell king, a tyrannical tyrant whose black presence obscured the kingdom among this colorful pandemonium, Tyranny was unrestrained. His unquenchable ambition for power was evident throughout his reign of terror and oppression. But Vittesh's life was anchored in the modesty of his middle-class background. Arden, his father, was a master blacksmith renowned for producing swords of unmatched excellence. His mother Serina was a healer, consoling the ill and injured with her touch. Vittesh was molded by their love and wisdom, which encouraged his curiosity and sharpened his swordplaying abilities. However, Vittesh's lack of magical skill made him stand out in a world where power was everything. His companions could easily summon flames or levitate objects, but he trained with a sword and read books that contained the mysteries he yearned to discover. He had no idea that his life would soon take an unprecedented turn, leading him on a path of unbelievable experiences and revelation. Zyranthia saw the brilliant and cheerful dawn of the Festival of Luminescence, a festival in which the entire realm honored their forefathers and the magic that had fashioned their world. Vittesh and his family were excitedly getting ready for the celebrations, and the enthusiasm of the occasion filled their home."Vittesh, can you fetch the lanterns from the attic?" With a bright and friendly voice, Serina cried out."Sure, Mother!" With a gentle step, Vittesh replied, heading up the rickety wooden stairs to the attic. Vittesh's heart flooded with nostalgia as he dug through the old trunk to find the lanterns; the attic was a treasure trove of family antiques and lost memories. His father was sharpening swords as he took the lanterns downstairs, the sound of metal against stone filled the room with rhythm. Arden grinned as he looked up. "I see you have the lanterns. They are a little dusty, but once we light them, they will glow brilliantly."With a smile, Vittesh placed the lanterns on the table. "I will tidy them up. Tonight, we want everything to go perfectly."When the sun went down, the streets of Vittesh's town, Lumera, were decorated with colorful lantern lights. Vittesh and his parents strolled through the throng, their faces beaming with the joy of the occasion. It seemed as though nothing could break their bliss for a little while. But as night struck and everything was enveloped in a silky darkness, an eerie chill wafted through the town. The Hellking appeared on the horizon, his eyes glowing with malicious intent, his body covered in a cloak of darkness that sent shivers through the assembled crowd. Screams echoed through the darkness as the Hellking's goons stormed Lumera, unleashing a torrent of dark magic that split the city. Vittesh held on to his father's arm, his heart pounding in his chest and his head whirling with terror."Serina, take Vittesh and go!" Arden's voice sounded frantic, and his eyes were filled with iron resolution. "I'll hold them off as long as I can." No, I won’t leave you!" Serina's voice broke with emotion, but Arden drove them in the direction of safety with a fierce, determined look. Vittesh staggered, horrified as a bolt of evil energy tore through their house, destroying everything in its path. Alone with his sword raised against the approaching storm, his father stood. Arden was caught in a blinding explosion of light and shadow as the Hellking's power surged."Father!" Vittesh's cries were a frantic echo, but the Hellking's wrath had taken his father's life. With Serina's agonized cry piercing the darkness, Vittesh's world collapsed around him. The sound of the Hellking's laughing pierced Vittesh's soul with its frost. "This is the destiny of everyone who opposes me," he said in a menacing murmur. He cast Lumera into rubble and disappeared into the darkness with a last, scornful gaze. The townspeople's faces, marked with shock and anguish, emerged from their hiding places as the dust fell. With his emotions a whirlwind of anguish and fury, Vittesh stood amid the debris. Beside him lay his mother, her soul crushed, and his father, gone, snatched by the ruthless hand of the Hellking."Why, Mother?" Pain shook in Vittesh's voice. "Why did this happen?" Serina embraced him tight, tears sparkling in her eyes. "Because we dared to hope," she said, her voice a thin line in the stillness. "Because we believed in a better world."
