She took a deep breath of the fresh air, and it helped to clear her head a bit. They arrived at their favorite local café, and they sat down at a table looking as the sun went down to welcome the moon. The smell of coffee and fresh baked pastries filled the air. Julia’s mom smiled at her. See? Doesn’t this feel better than sitting at home worrying she asked? It was time to go home , hand in in hand they got home , Mrs parker made sure Julie slept off before leaving for her own bed room . Julia’s mom sat on her bed tears streaming down her face. She looked up at the photo on her nightstand, a photo of her and her late husband. “Why did you have to leave me? She whispered, her voice breaking. ‘I need you here, I need your strength to get through this ‘” She felt a wave of grief wash over her, but she also felt a surge of determination to help her daughter, to give her the strength she needed whatever came next. She wiped her tears away and took a depth breath, feeling a bit more calm and collected. She knew she had to be strong for Julia, no matter what happened. She knew he might not want it or want to be part of her life, or the baby’s life. I’m scared, she said, her voice trembling. I know, honey, her mom said, putting a hand on her shoulder and said we are in this together. “Julia and mom drove to James house, feeling nervous and uncertain about what would happen. They rang the doorbell, ‘hello, Mrs. . . Williams; Julia’s mom said, her voice shaking slightly. ‘is James here ? Mrs. . . Williams nodded and called for James to come to the door. When he saw Julia, his face turned pale. “What are you doing here? He asked, his voice cold and distant. Julia’s heart sank.” We need to tal”, she said, her voice barely a whisper. James looked at his mother who nodded, he turned back to Julia and said come inside . They all sat down in the living room, an awkward silence hanging in the air . Finally Julia spoke “ I’m pregnant ” she said , her voice breaking down . James eyes widened, and his mother gasped. ‘what? He asked , his voice filled with disbelief . Are you sure? Julia nodded, I took a test, and it was positive. I’m pregnant, and the baby is yours. James looked at her, his expression unreadable.” I don’t believe you he said “. Julia's mom spoke up, her voice firm. 'James, this is a serious situation. You need to be honest with us. Are you willing to take responsibility for this child?' James looked down, avoiding eye contact. 'I... I don't know,' he said, his voice faltering. 'I didn't think this would happen. “I’m not ready to be a father”.' Julia felt her heart break, and tears started to well up in her eyes. 'I know this is hard,' her mom said, putting a hand on her shoulder. “'But you have to decide what you're going to do” 'You have to choose between being a part of this child's life or not. And if you choose not to be involved, you need to make that decision now, so that we can figure out our next steps.' James looked up, his eyes full of pain. 'I don't know what to do,' he said, his voice barely audible. Julia looked at him, her heart aching for him. 'You don't have to decide right now,' she said, her voice gentle. 'But you need to think about what you want.' James nodded, and they sat in silence for a few minutes. Then, he spoke 'I don't believe you,' James said, his voice cold and dismissive. 'You're just trying to trap me. I'm not going to fall for it.' Julia felt a flash of anger, but she tried to keep her composure. 'I'm not trying to trap you,' she said, her voice firm. 'I'm telling you the truth. I'm pregnant, and the baby is yours.' James shook his head. 'I don't believe you,' he repeated. 'This is some kind of scheme. Julia was at a loss for words. She couldn't believe that James was being so callous and dismissive. 'I don't know what else to say,' she said, her voice breaking. 'I know this is hard to believe, but it's the truth. Please, just think about it for a minute. If there's even a chance that this is true, don't you think you should consider it?' James looked away, his jaw clenched. 'No, I don't,' he said, his voice hard. 'I'm not going to play along with your game.' Julia felt a 'Enough!' Mrs. Williams said, her voice booming. 'I will not have you two arguing in my house. If you can't be civil, then you need to leave.' Julia and James both looked at her, shocked. 'But, Mom...' James started to protest, but Mrs. Williams cut him off. 'No buts,' she said. 'You heard me. After they left, Mrs. parker sat down next to Julia, who was still crying. 'I'm so sorry that he reacted that way,' she said, putting an arm around her. 'You don't deserve to be treated like that.' Julia wiped her eyes and tried to calm down. 'I know he's just scared,' she said. 'But it still hurts.' Mrs. parker nodded, understanding. 'I know it does.
