CHAPTER ONE
CHAPTER ONE Julia was walking down the hall at school, lost in thought. She hadn't been feeling well for the past few weeks, and she couldn't figure out what was wrong. She'd been tired, nauseous, and irritable, but she couldn't think of any reason why. Then, a terrifying thought occurred to her: Could she be pregnant? She tried to dismiss the thought, but it kept coming back, more insistent each time. Was it possible? She stopped in her tracks as a wave of dizziness hit her, and she had to lean against the wall to keep from falling. As Julia stood there, trying to regain her balance, a million thoughts rushed through her head. What would she do if she was pregnant? She was only 17, and still in high school. She had her whole life ahead of her . She couldn't be pregnant! She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. She knew she needed to find out for sure before she could panic. She took out her phone and texted her best friend, Sarah. "Hey, are you free? I need to talk to you ASAP." Sarah texted back right away. "Yeah, I'm free. What's up? Are you okay?" Julia's hands were shaking as she typed out her response. "I don't know. I think something's wrong, but I don't know what it is. ”Can we meet up at the coffee shop after school?" She hit send and waited anxiously for Sarah's response. A few moments later, the three little dots appeared, signaling that Sarah was typing. Finally, her reply came through. "Sure, I'll meet you there”. We'll figure this out together. Julia could hear the sound of her heartbeat in her ears as she waited for Sarah at the coffee shop. She fidgeted with her phone, tapping her foot nervously on the floor. When Sarah finally arrived, she rushed over to Julia and gave her a hug. "What's going on? You sounded really worried in your text." "I'm not sure," Julia said, her voice shaking. "I've been feeling off for the past few weeks. I'm tired all the time, and my stomach is always upset. I can't stop thinking that something's wrong, but I don't know what it is." Sarah took a seat across from her, taking her hand. "Okay, let's start from the beginning. When did this all start?" "It started about a month ago," Julia said, taking a deep breath. "I was just feeling kind of run down, like I was coming down with a cold or something. But it never went away. And then my stomach started acting up. I thought maybe it was just stress from school, but it's getting worse." Sarah nodded sympathetically. "That sounds really tough. Have you talked to your parents about it?" "I haven't told them yet," Julia said, looking down at her hands. "I know they'll just tell me I'm being silly and that I'm imagining things. But I know something's not right. I just feel it." Sarah squeezed her hand. "I know you're not imagining things. Let's figure this out together. Maybe we can make a doctor's appointment for you." "I don't know if I can do that," Julia said, her voice small. "My parents are really busy with work. I don't want to bother them with something that's probably nothing." Sarah shook her head. "You're not a bother, and this is definitely not nothing. Your health is important. And besides, I can go with you to the doctor if you need someone there for support." "You're right," Julia said, taking a deep breath. "I need to take care of myself. And I'd really appreciate your support." Sarah smiled. "That's the spirit! “ And don't worry, we'll get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, let's get some coffee and just relax for a bit." The two friends ordered their drinks and settled in for a chat. Even though they didn't have all the answers, they knew they were in it together. Julie and Sarah were sitting in the coffee shop, enjoying their drinks and chatting about their plans for the week. The sun was shining through the window, and the air was filled with the smell of fresh-brewed coffee. As they sipped their drinks, Julie couldn't help but think back to the weekend, She'd had such a wonderful time with her new friend. She smiled, remembering how much fun they'd had together. But she knew there was something important they needed to do first... Julie took a deep breath and turned to Sarah. "There's something I need to tell you," she said, her voice wavering slightly. "I'm... I'm not sure how to say this, but... I think I might be pregnant." Sarah's eyes widened, and she reached out to take Julie's hand. "Oh, Julie," she said, her voice full of concern. "That's a big thing to be dealing with. Are you sure?" Julie nodded, her eyes filling with tears. "I took a test, and... it was positive. I just don't know what to do. "It's okay," Sarah said, giving Julie's hand a gentle squeeze. "We'll figure this out together. First things first, have you told anyone else about this?" Julie shook her head. "No, you're the first person I've told. I've been so scared to tell anyone." Sarah nodded, understanding Julie's fear. "I get it. This is a really big deal. But I'm here for you, no matter what. What's your next step?" Julie took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. "I think I need to see a doctor," she said, her voice steady but still nervous. "I need to know for sure, and I need to know what my options are." Sarah nodded, her expression serious but still supportive. "I'll go with you, if you want. You don't have to do this alone." Julie smiled gratefully. "Thank you, that means a lot. But... what if my parents find out? I'm still in high school. They'll be so upset." “No matter what I have to tell my parents and I want to be the one to break the news to them Julia said”. Don’t worry we are in this together Sarah told her. Walking to the hospital, hand in hand with feet’s trembling Julia and Sarah walked into the hospital, went to the counter and waited for their turn,. “Julia parker! The nurse shouted, I’m here Julia said, following the nurse Julia went in for test to be conducted. She came out sat down with Sarah are awaited their test result, “Julia marks0n the nurse echoed again, please come with me ,hand in hand she and Sarah went into the doctor’s office . “Have your sit, doctor dawn told them, after much questions, he broke the news, you are one, and month and 5 days gone congratulations he said to Julia. Looking at her life shattering before her eyes, with tears rolling down her eyes, she got up walking out the office, and out of the hospital, not answering as Sarah kept calling her name with no response, walking to the road not hearing the horning of the car, Sarah dragged her back just almost when the car almost caught its break. “We are in this together Sarah told her” as they hugged themselves crying. The girls went back to Sarah’s house and talked about how they will go about breaking the news to Julia’s mom “ Sarah allowed Julia go home with the promise that they will keep in touch , Julia got home and her mom was not back, she went to her room had a hot bath, she sat in the bath tub with tears running down her eyes as she repeated the doctors words in her mind “ you are over a month gone “ Putting on her pyjamas she climbed into her bed and cried herself to sleep Her mom came back, and their sound woke her up, she went down stairs and told her welcome. “How are you my baby” her mom asked and how was school, fine she said . . . . .
