CHAPTER 2: ADEN FALLS

'Good morning sir' mumbles the maid. I don't even know her name, I grunted and took the coffee she brought. I sipped it, it was exactly how I liked it. I dismissed her and started my day as usual, went for my morning run, took a shower and sat down for breakfast. I liked everything in order and as it should be. Some people might call me heartless but I don't care about how people feel. People's feelings are meaningless to me, if that is heartless maybe I am. I am the President of one of the biggest companies in the world, most of the deals that made my company as successful as it was, wasn't made based on feelings.

‘Boss, your mum called' my sectary Austin said, he is one of the closest people to me, we grew up together. He is also my beta. Yes, I am an alpha werewolf. What did she want? I enquired, I loved my mum but lately she has been frustrating. She only seem to have one thing on her mind and that is me finding my mate. I am 28 years and at this age, all werewolf should have found a mate but I haven't and I have lost all hope of finding one. Maybe the moon goddess forgot about me. ‘She wants us to attend the annual ball’ Austin informed me. Let me guess, she wants me to try and find my mate among the attendees. I sighed, Austin's silence is the confirmation I needed. Well I'm busy, what else is on the schedule for today? I asked. ‘You have a meeting with a prospective investor, Pamela Co later today, you have some papers to sign,....' Austin rants on. I fill my days with work so I don't think of my mate but sometimes it doesn't work.

A worker comes in to sweep and accidentally spilled my coffee, it doesn't spill on me but that was a waste. I could feel the anger boiling in me, I looked at the young man. GET OUT! YOU'RE FIRED!! He trembles in fear and profusely apologize. He begs me and narrates how much his family depends on him and this job, apparently he forgot one slight detail, I DON'T CARE. He quietly leaves my office. Get a new cleaner immediately, Austin is shocked. ‘you just fired a cleaner for a tiny mistake. I don't think that's fair' I stared at him, he lowers his gaze out of respect for his alpha, 'and if you weren't my beta, I would have fired you for that statement. life isn't fair, deal with it’ I said with evidence of anger.

Later in the day, Austin reminds me of my meeting with this so called investor, I forgot the name of the company. I got in the car and Austin drove me to a place called 'Drinks and drinks', the name of the place was a turn off. I wonder why the investor wants to meet in such a lowly place. People have weird tastes. I walked in and was directed upstairs to the VIP section. At least the welcome was nice, before long a woman joins us. We exchanged a handshake and pleasantries. She was okay looking, not that I cared but she was actively trying to seduce me. Unnecessarily bending over, too much physical contact, exaggerated laughs, I know a seductresses when I see one. Many women have tried and keep trying but I have lost interest in women a while back and this move of hers might cost her the deal. I'll have to bear with her till the end of the transaction. Suddenly a waft of air brought the most glorious scent to my nostrils. It reminded me of summer. Gentle sun, clear skies and a beautiful garden. It made me at peace, Bolt, my wolf howled. MATE!! He growled, I was confused, excited yet scared. what if this was a game, a cruel game by fate? I looked over the railings and saw the most gorgeous girl I have ever seen. She was small but cute, maybe it was because I was upstairs and she was downstairs but she was definitely beautiful. My heart started beating so fast, I felt like everyone in the bar could hear it. I watched her like I was in a trance, every step she took, made my heart leap.

She turned around and I saw her face, I couldn't breathe but I don't know why she looked scared, she started carrying some people outside, maybe they're her friends. She was definitely worth the wait, she's perfect. I saw the last girl get up and walk towards the counter confused. "I've got something important to check out. I'll be right back" I quickly got up to check on the girl so my mate doesn't get too agitated. As soon as I got downstairs, I saw my mate, I froze. I couldn't help but stare at her, she looked so scared but so cute. She finally found her friend and took her out. Only after she's left, did I realize I didn't even know her name. How was I to find her again?
