Married but Single

Nina woke up from sleep with such a Nostalgic feeling! "Why do I feel this way?" Her heart palpitations could be heard from miles... Marriage to the royal family in this part of the world is one fantasy that every young girl has. Some would even prefer to marry a royal servant than marry a commoner; so long as there is royalty attached to their name. But Nina's fantasy differs. She has dreams, yes, dreams!!. Why can't everyone understand her? She is different, she is not like other young girls and that she knows. She wants to make a change to her cultural perspective. She wishes for change and change she must see. Stretching both hands and yawning like a tired frog, Nina sluggishly got up from her bed. She walked lazily toward the window, parted the curtains both ways to have a gaze outside..... beholding the early morning sun gave her hope. She felt alive, warm and hopeful. "It's not over yet," she consoled herself. 'There's still time and I know I shall be rescued from this outlandish custom,' she muttered. Closing her eyes tightly, she began to sob as memories poured down in her heart. "Oh! oh .... if only I had listened to Alex, I wouldn't be in this mess, If only I had eloped with him I would have lived happily ever... but I know within me that there's a glimpse of hope; it's sure not over, Alex, my love, I am coming for you!!" Pedro - Nina's father built his house at the outskirts of the town. This made Nina get used to living a quiet and independent life. She was introverted and she enjoyed this lifestyle. But things soon changed when Alex's Parent returned back from Europe to rent one of Pedro's boys quarters. Alex's parents lived most of their life in Europe. But as soon as their son was old enough to be in high school, they returned home. They wanted him to school in their home town. They wanted him to acclimatize with their culture. After all, he has a root, and he needs to know this.
