Chapter 2: Stripper Club

1179 Words
There’s no day I always overthink about what will going to happen to us one day. We’re orphans, the only thing that keeps us alive is our faith in the God almighty and the money I monthly attained from our university. Me and my brother thrived in an impoverished family. Unfortunately, our parents separated, and neither of the two of them wants us. In the end, as the eldest among us, I was the one who worked my ass off at an early age day and night as I learned how to become rational and self-sufficient since then. I haven’t heard even a single piece of news from our parents. Firmly speaking, I have no interest in meeting them if I’d be given a shot. What they did to us is one of the things I wouldn’t disregard. “Didn’t I tell you to drink your meds regularly?” I started getting vexed at my brother who was laying in the hospital bed. Andrius swiveled his eyes at me out of nowhere. “I don’t need meds, Andra. I’m okay,” he assured. Of course. That was hardly a fable. He constantly tells me that but his actions contradict his words. “Piss off, Andrius. Don’t make another argument with me,” I sneered as I opened the tablet and poured water into the glass set beside his hospital bed. He chuckled. “I’m not making you mad. Just confiding the truth,” he said. “We both know who always bluffs whenever we’re talking,” I meaningfully said. I lent him the glass of water and the medicine he should be drinking regularly. The Doctor always reminds me of this. He shouldn’t leap a day without drinking if we don’t want to get it worse. Andrius is sick. He has an incurable disease and we have to maintain his strength and energy. “If you’re troubled about our expenses, then I suggest beating that thought out of the bush because I already found a new job to sustain your monthly medications,” I honestly asserted. “Your midterms are next week. Andra–” I sighed. “It’s fine. Seems like you don’t know me after all, Andrius,” “Just worried. You don’t have to work your ass off every day and night like what you always do,” he lectured. “What am I going to do, then? Let you suffer and die? Do you think I’m gonna let that happen?” I sarcastically said, feeling emotional and aggravated. “Look, I’m doing everything I can to support us. Don’t worry about me and just focus on what your doctor always says,” Without further uncertainties, Andrius wrapped his hands around my hand. Hugging it like a monkey while giving me a soft smile. My heart melts at what he perpetrated. The only family I have was him, Andrius who always throws his corny jokes. He who will make everything he could just to make me happy whenever I’m tired and having a bad day. “You’re the sweetest sister I have! I’m so lucky to have you, Andra,” he mumbled before giving me a tight hug. I chuckled because of his cuteness. “I know. I’ll be back by Friday. I already told your nurse about it so you better not wait for me,” “Take care, Andra!” My agenda for today is to come to the address Mr. Walter sent me. He said I will be starting my work right away since they were in a hurry. I have no dilemmas with that actually. The moon shines bright tonight. I am always fascinated by how it remained beautiful whenever it’s full and often half. It’s currently 7 in the evening. I shortly rode a taxi and told him the address Mr. Walter is talking about. I was terrified when the driver dropped me off in front of a big nightclub. The noise from the inside is all that I could hear from here on where I was standing. I forthwith pulled out my phone and dialed the number Mr. Walter gave me. In just about three rings, he answered. “I’m in front of the address you gave me, Mr. Walter, I’m in uh... in front of a club,” I said. Mr. Walter’s background seemed noisy. It took me a couple of seconds waiting for him to talk. “Hello, dear?” I became wary. “Is this the right address you gave me, Sir?” “Uh-huh. Just tell the bouncers my name when they asked who are you. Someone will fetch you there, dear,” Honestly speaking, I’m not sure if I’m going to do this. I closed my eyes as the whirlwind oozes from my skin before soughing heavily. I’m not lucky. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Catching a glimpse of my brother’s suffering always makes my heart shatter. This is the life I wasn’t prayed for yet this is what the God almighty gave us. I headed inside like what Mr. Walter said. The uncertainty I’ve been feeling since then withered when a girl approached me. “Andra Erlina Milburn?” she inquired. Slowly, I nodded. “Follow me,” The girl has thick make-up on her face. When I departed inside the club, many people, or should I say business individuals are there based on what they are wearing. Some are still wearing their suits, men who are age forty and above. We ceased in front of a room which has two bodyguards outside. The girl who I am with nodded her head at them. In just a glimpse of an eye, I felt the two grasp my hand and forcedly compelled me to go inside. I was left dumbfounded when they throw me inside the room where I am presently in. Sporting ladies like me polished with sexy clothes and crying, made my heart pound and hoot for help. Judging by the whole area, I suppose it’s a dresser room since a lot of different clothes are dangling inside. All of them were staring at me. Fear indicated in their eyes not until a fat old lady trudged forward and uttered. “Aren’t you going to move and dress like what others did?” she let out frigidly before puffing her cigarette. I was horrified. My knees trembled in fear as I felt her cold-blood shot eyes penetrating mine. “E-Excuse me?” “The show will be starting in fifteen. Why aren’t you still dressed?” My heart thumped out of fear. The old lady looked at me with disgust on her face yet I still survived to speak without stuttering. “It seems like I went into the wrong room. I’m s–” She scoffed and smirked. “You’re under Amer Walter, right?” “Y-Yes, Ma’am.” Her scowl grew even bigger. “Then you must know that your job is to strip in front of many people tonight, especially our guests and VIPs,”
