Chapter 5

Elizabeth still couldn't fathom what led to her suspension. The management was really getting on her nerves and if they keep up with this, she might turn In her resignation letter. Ray Holdings has been good to her ever since she joined them but recently the management were not being fair to a lot of workers and whoever spoke up was either fired or given a suspension from the company. Elizabeth was one of the very few who had laid out their complaints and was served a suspension letter. If she wasn't an asset to the company, she would have been fired immediately.

Though that wasn't what Elizabeth was worried about. Ray Holdings might have given her a suspension, but she wasn't bothered at all. She was under stress and needed a lot of rest so the suspension from the company was to her advantage.

She was supposed to rest and visit the spa, as she had earlier planned with Matilda but that plan changed as well when Jack called her to come over to his house and stay with his sister, his baby sister was not feeling fine and he had taken her to the hospital.

Even though Elizabeth didn't want to go, she couldn't say no to him either. Elizabeth has never said no to him at all, she said a lot of yes to him than he will ever say to her. Before she could fathom what was happening, Matilda was dropping her off at his house and speeding off. She wasn't happy Elizabeth was running back to him after he had forgotten about her birthday and made her cry.

"That was harsh" Elizabeth whispered as she watched Matilda disappear from her sight. She takes a step forward when the memory of Jack and Lilet entangled together in bed shot through her mind. She had not seen Lilet's face that day, but she was certain she was a beautiful woman.

Jack Jefferson would never fall for the ugly girls, she found out about that when he never replied to her letter, but what Elizabeth doesn't know was that Jack had not read her letter at all. Not that he was going to reply but it would have made things a lot easier for her.

She wanted some answers, that was all she was asking for so she could put an end to the doubts and the questions in her heart.

"Elizabeth"

She halts, without having to turn around, Elizabeth could put a name to that familiar voice and she wasn't happy about it as she turned around and locked eyes with Alfred Wellington.

"What are you doing here?" Elizabeth was glad Jack wasn't around but he was only gone for a little while and would be heading back into town once his sister was alright.

"I came to see you" He takes slow steps towards her and hands a white rose over to her.

"Do you realize whose house this is?"

"Jack Jefferson" Alfred wasn't scared of him. He was only angry that Elizabeth was madly in love with a man who would never look her way. It wasn't just about being business rivals, Alfred has seen Jack with a number of women, one of which was his ex-girlfriend.

"So what are you doing here?"

"I came to talk to you"

"There is nothing for us to talk about" She tries to walk away when he holds her hand

"Have dinner with me"

She chuckled. "What do you want me to say?"

"A yes"

"I will never have dinner with you and you can go with your stupid rose and give it the next b***h that you managed to get into her pants because you are not getting into mine"

Alfred wasn't fazed, but he hated that he put him next to those other men who go around chasing women in tight fitting skirts, he was nothing like them. He loves Elizabeth, it wasn't just about the s*x, it was everything. It was her alluring beauty, the sexy smile she flashed at the ones she cares about, Alfred was hooked.

"What makes you always think that I want to get Into your pant"

"Don't you want to?"

"Of course I want to but that's only if you want me to"

"I will never let you close to it so you better get that thought out of your head" she tries to walk into the house when he holds her arms, but Elizabeth lands a hard slap on his face. "Don't you dare touch me again"

"I love you Eli"

"I don't love you, I will never love you so you better wake up from your deluded sleep"

"Jack will not love you too" He retorts. That was a lame move but he had seen the handwriting on the wall and Elizabeth needed to wake up from her deluded sleep.

"Get lost you jerk" Elizabeth entered the house slamming the door against his face.

Anger seeped through Alfred and he walked back to the car, he could feel his heart bleeding as it beat. Elizabeth was hurting him without even realizing it.

"Where should we go?" The driver asked

"Just drive" Alfred had no idea where he wanted to be.

The only place he wanted to be was next to Elizabeth, but she was in another man's house waiting for him to come home. He couldn't help but wonder how far they've gone in their relationship, ever since he met Elizabeth, she has always talked about one man and that's Jack Jefferson.

Jack was a handsome man, there was no denying that but he wasn't someone that she should chase after, since he didn't value her. He hated that Jack was getting all the attention, he doesn't deserve it. Alfred clenches his jaw staring out of the window when his eyes falls on Jack Jefferson's car coming the other way.

"I want you to obstruct that car"

"What?" The drivers eyes widened

"Do it now!" He ordered and the driver turned the steering and stepped on the brake.

"Good boy," Alfred whispers and gets down from the car.
