Falling for doom: Fire and ice

Chapter five

Atom's pov

I can't seem to focus as I sit in my meeting. My mind keeps going back to my little one.

I feel someone tap my hand and I look at the royal council.

"Are you listening your highness, you seem greatly distracted." One of the council members says. I just gesture for them to continue.

" You have been away from the kingdom for years now. I think it's getting dangerous. We are spotting more of our enemies near the wall everyday." My advisor says. I roll my eyes at that.

"Am not coming back home till I make sure the heir to Queen Esmee and king Asher is dead." I say in a bored tone. I know he is close here. I can feel his power.

"My Lord, maybe we have been looking for the wrong person." One council member says and my interest sparks at that. I nod for him to continue. "What if the so called heir is not a male but a female?"murmurs arise at his suggestion and my mind goes to Bella.

Could what he is saying be true. Bella's beautiful full and soft hair suddenly has blue strands which represent water royalty. But she was supposed to have it from birth. And she has no magic in her. Well not any that I can feel.

Then I remember the lake incident. The healing lake is found in one of the fairy kingdoms. Fae gates can only open to those with magic.

I shake my head to clear it up. Her beauty is not human. There is something magical about her icy eyes. And the way the purple swirls in them spread when she is embarrassed or feeling shy making her eyes turn purple.

I sigh at my ridiculous state. Am so attracted to the little girl. "Maybe you are right. Maybe that's why we have been coming up empty." I say to him. Maybe I need to get closer to Bella. But my heart refuses to doubt her.

She is so small and thin. She is very shy and doesn't seem she can hurt a fly. How in the world can she fight and kill me?

I dismiss the meeting and head outside for some fresh air. And if she was the heir then why do I feel so attracted to her?

So many questions arise my head. And I know I want to just get close to her not because I suspect her of if anything but because I like her. She is so beautiful and delicate like a little flower.

As I walk around my modern cabin. I think about the two air princes. Is it that they are looking for the heir as well? I frown at that. I really don't like them especially when they get near Bella.

I will make sure that she is mine. Jasper and Finn need to back off. I go back and lay down thinking about my little Bella.

If indeed she is the heir will I still be attracted to her?

I wake up before sunrise and do my running routine. A king needs to be fit. My subjects are well trained as well.

I roll my eyes at my paranoid advisor. The wall around my kingdom is a pure fire shield. My mother created it around the kingdom. It's so strong that no one can penetrate it unless I allow it.

My kingdom is safe for as long as that wall is still around it.

I come back home and stare in the mirror as I brush my teeth. I stopped aging at the age of 18. Perks of being an immortal being. In the past 18 years while searching for the heir I have been moving around so people don't notice.

I quickly shower and head down stairs. I make some picnic food and pack it.

I don't like servants around me so they only come out when I go. I put the basket in my car and start off for school.

I automatically walk to her locker and I find her collecting her books. I smile when I see her struggle with her locker.

She bumps into me and drops her books. I hold her waist and bring her closer to me. Her rainy scent is so intoxicating so I bury my nose in her hair. "I missed you." I say to her. I actually missed her and she feels good in my arms like she was meant to be there.

"You saw me just yesterday." She says with a little shy smile. My smile widens at that. I release her from the hug and take her hand. I pick up her books and hand them to her.

"I will see you at lunch. I want to take you somewhere." I tell her and I see curiosity in her eyes. "It's a surprise." I wink at her. I lean down and kiss her soft cheek. It takes all my control to not kiss her soft pink lips.

"I will find you in the library." I whisper in her ear.

I back away slowly and I find it difficult to just go. I force myself to turn around. I don't look back because I might run back and kiss her.

As I walk away is spot Jasper and Finn coming infront of me. I put on my cold face and decide I don't want to talk to the two air elementals. But Jasper just had to bump my shoulder roughly. I stop dead in my tracks.

"Oops!" Jasper says with a smirk. "Didn't see you there your highness." I turn him and I smirk when his smile drops. He falls to the ground in agony. I click my teeth as he turns red due to his boiling blood.

"I warned you, don't ever touch me again. I might end up boiling your heart. And stay away from Bella." I walk away and stop Jasper's torture. Finn looks lived but I walk away.

Am too angry to go to class. I might burn the school down. I walk out of the school and reach the healing lake.

The water that is in the lake is not water at all. They are fairy tears. When ever a fairy cries the tears come in the lake. Fairy tears have healing magic that's why people of all kinds heal in this lake.

It doesn't take long for lunch break to arrive. I go back to the school and head to the library. I immediately spot my little one but I go cold when I see the air princes sitting with her. She looks quite annoyed and it just make me more angry. I start walking over to where they are sitting and Finn tries to touch Bella's hair, my Bella.

That's it. I lose it and his sleeve catches fire. Bella jumps away from him. I hold her to me and Jasper uses wind to put out the fire. A few papers fly about.

"Are you ready to go." I ask her. Her scent is calming me down. She nods and we start going towards the woods. Bella stops walking and I turn to her. She has a skeptical look on her face.

"I am not going to murder you little one." I tell her teasingly. She rolls her eyes at me and I feel joy. I guess she is finally warming up to me. "Let's just go." She murmurs.

I take her hand in mine and I lead her to the clearing where I have set up the picnic. She looks at me in surprise like am not capable of making a picnic.

"What is this?" She asks in a whisper. I help her sit on the blanket and hand her a soda. "It's a date." I say causally. Bella's eyes squint at me. "And you didn't think of asking me, what If i don't agree?" She says in a haughty voice. I raise an eyebrow at her.

"So you don't agree?" I ask her and I watch her cheeks turn red. I smile at her. She is so adorable. I hold her cheek and make her look at me.

"I don't think so." I smile at her. "So please enjoy this date with me."

I kiss her cheek and put some food on her plate. We start eating and I ask her about what she likes. She tells me she likes cooking. We fall in a comfortable silence and I don't pay much attention to my food I watch her eat. I can definitely watch her all my life.

After we eat I take her hand and we walk to the lake. "Join me for a swim." I say with a smile. She shakes her head and blushes deeply. "I don't have any swim attire with me." She says.

My smile broaden. "I wasn't asking little one." I say and take off my shirt. I hand it to her and she glares at it. I raise my eyebrow at her but she still stands her ground. I shrug. "Okay then you don't mind getting soaked." I lift her and she let out a shriek of horror. "Put me down!" She yells at me but I just laugh. "Atom! Okay give the shirt I change." She says desperately. I put her down and her red face glares up at me. She grabs the shirt where I dropped it and stomps over to a tree.

I feel myself smile. I think am falling in love. I take of my pants and am left in my shorts only. Bella comes out behind the tree with my shirt that reaches above her knees and her hair is down. She looks younger and innocent. I smile at her blushing face. She is really amazing.

"You look good in my shirt." I say playing with a strand of her hair. She blushes and pushes me away. "Am still angry at you man handling me." She says with a pout. I put on a serious face.

"Bella am really......... not sorry cause I enjoyed every moment of it." I smirk at her and before she could react I lift her and she let's out a squeal and a laugh. It's music to my ears. We swim for some time and play some water games. After we get tired we go back to our picnic and eat some snacks.

When the sun starts setting I turn to Bella. "Come you need to see this." I tell her and I carry her on my back. She giggles the whole way. When we reach the cliff I put her down.

The cliff shows the setting sun. Bella gasps. "Atom it's really beautiful." She says in an awed whisper. My eyes are glued on her happy glowing face. Her eyes are twinkling due to her excitement.

"Yes very beautiful." I rasp out. She turns to me and she gives me a shy smile. I pull her close to me and I just can't wait anymore. "Can I kiss you?" I ask her and she nods.

Immediately my lips touch hers fireworks explode in my head. I bring her closer to me and she molds into me like a puzzle piece. I feel my flames surround me and Bella. I smile in the kiss, I have found my mate. The flames die out immediately we break the kiss.

I hug her close to me and smile like a fool. I have found her at last.

Bella gasps and looks around us. It's already dark and I can clearly see the panic on her face.

"Atom I have to go." She says and tries to cover up her fear with a smile. Something is wrong here. "Are you okay you look pale." I ask her but she shakes her head. "Am okay. Thanks for the date I really enjoyed it." She says and kisses my cheek. She's about to run off but I pull her back and kiss her soft lips.

"If something is wrong you can tell me." I tell her gently. She nods and breaks into a jog. To hell am I letting my mate walk in this dangerous forest in the dark.

I follow her until she enters her house. She's safe now but I can't shake off the feeling that something is wrong.
