Meet The Parents

The morning came faster than expected. “We don’t have more time, Alaric. This rogue problem is getting seriously out of hand.” Arthur massages his old head with his hand. “As much as I hate to agree with him, we do have to act on this quickly.” Daciana adds, she’s a wolf from the new King’s pack. They’re slowly infiltrating the council and it’s annoying as f**k. “I can’t guarantee everyone’s safety in just one week. I’ll look into it.” I stood up to stretch my feet. I can’t feel my ass from sitting down for too long. “We’ll see what we can do.” Caius said, smiling at everyone. A look of relief washes over their faces, somehow that worked. Caius has always been the council’s favorite. Before we could leave, Marcus stopped us. “We have to go over the details of this evening’s event.” He discreetly hands me a bottle. Stardust with water from the Nile. It masks scents better than spells, but when mixed with regular liquid, it loses its effect. “Make yourselves presentable boys.” He clicks his tongue, and leaves. My suit arrived just in time for the party. I had it delivered from France. They make the best suits for special occasions. Of course my princess is going to be there. I have to look twice as great as any other guy she’ll lay her eyes on. I doubt if she’ll ever find anyone as handsome as me, but I got the suit just to make sure. Vladimir and Caius were waiting for me downstairs when I got out of my room. Before heading to the car, we sprayed ourselves with the mist. It did the work, I can’t smell my brother’s nasty scent anymore. I need more of this, I took a mental note. Speeding up to the castle I can tell Lyroan was very much favored by the goddess. This place looks grander than our castle. Luna also has her own shrine the moonlight can touch. She’s the centerpiece of everything. We were greeted by Serephine and Marcus. They’re dressed to the occasion, with council sash over to their shoulders. Her smile never left her mouth while she stared in awe of my brother. I can’t see any reason why she would want to look at Vladimir. His face is horrendous. “The King wants to have a word with you before the ceremony.” Marcus stops me. “Someone’s in trouble.” Vladimir smirks, before I could punch him in the face, Marcus spoke again. “To all of you.” He adds. They led us to a room not far from the main hall. The door was guarded by Scouts, the werewolves they train since birth to protect the pack. They’re strong like hunters. Hunters are the wolves they send to council quests, and manhunts. The ones that killed my servants. The door opens to a man and a woman hand in hand, with a young guy behind them. He trails them like an obedient puppy. The man and the woman look exactly like- “His and Her Majesty, the King and Queen.” Marcus’ smile grows wide and offers the King a hand. He looks stiff, like he didn’t want anything to do with Marcus, or he hates the fact that he’s a vampire. Either way he still takes Marcus’ hand on his, while plastering on a small smile. They sat down the chairs across us, the lackey they have remains standing, I don’t think he’s anyone special to be sitting beside the King and Queen. “The King sends his regards, and he apologizes that he couldn’t attend himself.” Marcus tries reaching the Lycan King again but fails. He only nods uncomfortably in response. “He sent Prince Alaric and Vladimirovich in his stead.” He motions to us. I had to stop myself from laughing because he said Vladimir’s full name. He hates being called Vladimirovich. “Which one of you kidnapped my daughter?” His question caught me off guard. I didn’t think he’d boldly ask that. “Well- P-Prince Alaric he-“ Marcus started stuttering like a pathetic fool. Their attention turns to me. “It was a huge misunderstanding.” I cut Marcus off from sputtering more nonsense. “Your whole existence is a misunderstanding.” The guy behind the King retorts. I lazily turn my gaze at him. Who the f**k does he think he is? “We had to rescue the Princess from these people.” A voice from the other door stops us. It spat out a guy that looks a lot like the s**t behind the King. “Amoux you were a little too loud.” Serephine chuckles awkwardly. The guy stood a bit taller and strides towards the Queen’s side. “I don’t understand why we accept these people after what they did to the Princess.” He scornfully looks at us. I didn’t want to be here too, if that helps the situation. I’d rather leave than stay with these damn wolves. “You should ask them to leave now-“ “That’s enough Amoux.” The Queen’s tone is calm but full of authority, that shut the guy up. It’s the first time I heard her voice, she sounds just like her daughter. Luna will envy their beauty. “It’s our coronation day.” She smiles, and holds her husband’s hand in hers. “It’s our coronation day, and they came here to support us. We should put the past behind us despite what happened. I’m sure the Prince did no harm to our daughter, am I right?” She turns her attention to me. They all waited for my answer, the two dogs behind them looked like they’re ready to pounce any minute. “I treated her like my Queen, your highness.” I smile back at her. Relief washes over both their faces. “I believe you Prince Alaric.” She nods in response. “Now you both owe our guests an apology.” She turns her attention over to the mutts. “I apologize for my rude behavior, my Queen.” The lackey behind her starts, “but I’m not apologizing for worrying about our Princess.” She sighs in defeat, I could see the exhaustion in her eyes when she looked back at me. “I completely understand. The situation got out of hand, although I want to make amends, I owe you an apology too.” I nodded her way. Another look of relief shows from her face. “I’m glad we cleared that out. Now, let’s enjoy ourselves shall we?” She nudges her husband’s arm. He loosens up and smiles more genuinely now. “Please make yourselves feel at home.” He nodded in our direction. “The celebration should start soon, see to it Prince Alaric and Prince Vladimirovich are assisted in any way possible.” She smiles again before they both leave still hand in hand. I could hear the people around me sigh in relief. “That was intense.” Serephine whispers to herself. “Tell me about it.” Vladimir adds, nudging me on my arm. “I’ll rip your arm off and I’ll beat you with it if you touch me again.” I shot him a look. He backs away, smirking. “Chill! We’re okay now.” He places an arm over Caius' shoulders. “Where’s the party?” He asked the scouts, who were staring awkwardly at us. “Don’t think you’re accepted just because the Queen chose to be kind.” The two mutts walk past us with sour looks on their faces. This kind of disrespect earns them a death sentence, but we’re not in the right position to demand blood. We should, but not right now. I have to wait for the allegations to die down before I kill anyone, especially those two mutts. The scout leads us to the balcony that overlooks the scene below. It’s perfect so people won’t pay much attention to us. Although my brother is making a fuss, winking at girls on our way here. I swear I’m putting up for too much just to see Celeste.
