My wolf keeps pacing back and forth, I feel dizzy even though I’m just looking outside. I don’t know what we’re feeling, we’re both at loss. I can’t be mated with a vampire! It’s unnatural.
Why does he act like that with me though? Aren’t I supposed to be his food? Dinner? Dessert? I know vampires drink werewolf blood to get stronger. I don’t understand why he’s being so patient with me.
He could just kill me if he wanted to. It’s not like I could put up a fight if he wanted to end my life. I’m not strong enough to protect myself.
I can feel my wolf wanting to go out, but the wolf’s bane on my neck makes it harder to transform. I’ll drop dead once the plant touches my skin, she’s too fragile right now.
I fought with my beast, I have to take control or else I might never see my parents ever again.
The sound of my bones cracking made me wince, I don’t think I’m strong enough to transform but my wolf thinks otherwise. I’m conflicted.
My fur suddenly starts coming out from my skin, and my claws are showing, before I could protest, I’ve already shifted to my wolf. My white fur glistened under the moonlight. I thought she was going to jump down the balcony, but she sat down, and started howling.
An unusual howl echoed through the forest. A longing sound I’ve never heard her make before. She starts whimpering, while we both wait patiently. I’ve never felt so alone, and helpless.
I heard footsteps outside the hallway, it’s getting closer, I could sense it.
His scent grows stronger each stride he makes, the door opens behind me, I whimper when his eyes meet mine.
A growl bellows from my stomach, I’m ready to pounce at him if he comes close. “You’re mad I left. I’m sorry.” He says, still walking towards me, is he not scared? I can mutilate his body with my sharp canines, he’ll be unrecognizable once I’m done with him.
“Settle down little wolf. Take it easy.” He holds out a hand, he stops arms length away from me. I could feel my blood boiling, but I wasn’t mad. Am I sulking? No. It’s unusual, and I shouldn’t be sulking just because he left.
“My sweet little pup, I’m here now.” He smiles, that somehow makes me feel slightly relieved. I bowed down to his touch.
He caresses my fur softly. “Now I think we understand each other.” He cooes, sitting down in front of me. I rested my chin on his lap. My head is bigger than his thigh, but it doesn’t seem to bother him. He keeps caressing my fur down to my neck.
I nudged his elbow with my nose. I feel like melting under this vampire’s touch.
“You look magnificent, Celeste. I have never seen a wolf like yours.” I heard him say before I fell asleep in his arms.
I woke up alone again, in Deacon’s bed. My clothes have changed, and my undergarments are gone. I mentally slapped myself for turning into a wolf, but she seems to be at peace now. She’s wagging her tail again. The door suddenly opened, I quickly pulled the sheets up my neck to cover my body.
“Relax. It’s nothing I haven’t seen already.” The person who I suspect is the one who dressed me walks inside arrogantly, his eyes immediately connect to mine. I feel insecure, no one’s ever seen me naked before.
I can feel my face growing hot. I immediately avoided his gaze. “Get dressed, we’re going out.”
Izzy appears behind him, she enters the room with her head down. When her eyes met mine, she winked. “I brought some clothes for you, Miss.'' She carefully drops a couple of dresses down the bed, with undergarments. They look slightly smaller than my chest.
She shyly looks away. “I had to guess based on memory. I’m sorry if they won’t fit, I can take mo-” I grabbed her arm before she could leave. “I’m sure it’ll fit.” I smiled her way.
The cold shower is relaxing, I could feel the heat emanating from my skin. I suddenly remember my pack. I don’t worry that much, Amoux is with them. He’s stronger than 10 wolves combined.
I wiped my face clean, brushing my hair away. I decided against tying it up today. I let it flow naturally down my shoulder. I looked at myself one last time before stepping outside.
Deacon and Izzy were there staring at me. “You look amazing!” Izzy yelped, a low growl from Deacon made her jolt. She immediately ran outside the room.
“Her clothes fit you well.” He looms close to me, breathing in my scent. I could feel my wolf wagging her tail. She’s not like this, usually she growls or hides away when a guy is close, but she’s submitting to Deacon. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not. Probably because he’s a vampire, and he’s a lot stronger now than us, she’s drawn to his power.
My tummy let out a rumble that made him chuckle. “Let’s go eat.” He offers a hand. His face fell when I took time to look at it. What am I supposed to do?
“You can starve to death, or take my hand. Either way works for me.”
I immediately took it out of instinct. I’m hungry, not stupid. I know when to fight or when not to.
“Better.” He plasters on a smile again. It was my first time going outside his room. The hallway looks like an old house with carpeted floors. They give creepy vibes, but I’m sure they cost a fortune. This house looks sturdy through and through.
We descended down a grand staircase, a chandelier hanging from the ceiling yells out rich. There’s no denying since he bought me for 7 billion dollars. When we entered the dining room, his friend was there with another guy beside. “You finally took her out of the cage.” he snickers.
Before I could say anything, Deacon pulled me by my waist. “Sit.” He instructed, motioning to the chair beside him. I stood there trying to take everything in. “Or would you want to sit on my lap instead?” He lazily looks up at me. “No thanks.” I quickly sat down on the chair next to him.
“Good girl.”
I didn’t have time to react, the food was brought to the table with a mouthwatering smell, I couldn’t care less about my reaction. “When was the last time you fed her?” The annoying guy asks, Deacon took my spoon and fork and started feeding me. “Last night, she ate a whole chicken.” He says, without looking at his direction.
“I don’t remember eating a chick-” Before I could finish he took another spoonful of mash potato and stuffed it in my mouth. “Your wolf did.” He answers. So that’s why she was wagging her tail all morning! He fed her chicken.
Before I could say anything more, the other guy spoke. “The council is asking for results.”
“I need more time.” Deacon replies, still not giving them his attention, he’s cutting my steak into tiny pieces. He was more focused on that. “When you’re done playing pup master, you should go back to leading your people.” The guy rubs his temples. He looks heavenly, like Deacon, but more lean and serious. He’s like a hot professor, the one high school girls fall for. He could bend me down a table for all I care.
My fantasy got cut short when Deacon suddenly dropped the knife down the plate, giving a loud thud. “We can talk about this later Caius, I don’t see the need to rush.”
The guy Caius opens his mouth, but there was a knock on the door that interrupted him. “Come in.” Annoying guy chimes.
I could sense another wolf from the other side of the door, with a vampire. We were greeted with a guy holding his intestines in, whilst the other guy assisted him. “I think that concludes breakfast.” I whispered to myself.
“What the f**k are you thinking bringing him here?” Annoying guy jumps up from his seat. “We were ambushed, there’s nowhere else to go.” He helps the vampire down the floor, he looks dazed, staring up the ceiling with his internal organs in hand.
“Ambushed?” Caius calmly asks. “The wolf pack is looking for a girl, we had to retreat, the King and Queen are back.” He tried pushing the organs back in but to no luck. “What do you mean they’re looking for a girl?” Annoying guy asks, coming close to the vampire to examine his state.
He scrunches his face at the sight of him. “Their princess. The wolf pack is looking for their princess.” He looks back at us helplessly, when his eyes meet mine, he looks like he just had a bright idea.
“Please master, if you could spare us blood from your slave.” He bows down to Deacon. Is he talking about me? My blood?
“What about you? You’re a werewolf, give him your blood instead.” I hid behind Deacon, he placed a protective hand around me. “You’re a slave! I’m more important than you, you little-” before he could come close, Deacon kicked his face. He crashes down the floor with a loud thud. “First you barge inside my house with your filthy blood spilling down my floor, then you disrespect my belonging? This seals your death sentence.” Deacon let out a menacing aura, even Caius and the annoying guy had to look away. It feels like he could murder a whole pack of wolves, I shivered under his touch, my wolf scurries far too.
Caius steps close, taking me by my arm.
“Don’t look.” He whispered. Deacon moves swiftly like air, next thing I saw he’s holding the werewolf’s head in hand with a wide grin on his face.
That’s a picture I’ll never be able to remove from my head. This was a different side of him I never thought I’d see.
Izzy leads me up the room, while the guys head to Deacon’s office. As much as I want to spend time with him, I feel bile on my throat whenever I see his face.
“He’s protective.” Izzy states, helping me sit down on the bed. “Is this a natural thing? Him killing werewolves?” I c****d a brow at her. “It’s not my position to say.” She avoids my gaze, and my attention altogether. “Yes it is.” A voice from the door rang inside the room.
Annoying guy was standing there with his hands inside his pockets. Izzy scurries out of the room again, leaving us alone. “He’s never patient with werewolves, you see. He spent millenia training how to kill wolves, he’s a natural.” There was a coy smile plastered on his face that irritated me. He’s enjoying this so much.
“I spent my lifetime training how to kill vampires, I understand.” I turned back, but when I opened my eyes he was instantly in front of me. “Based on your reaction from Jasper’s little stunt earlier, you’re not used to seeing blood, pooch.”
He breathes in my scent, savoring it. “I wonder why he hasn’t tasted you yet, you smell nice.” He sneers. “I think we both know you’ll get into serious trouble if you lay a hand on me.” I stepped back away from him.
That got a chuckle from him. “You think he’d favor you over me? His best friend since birth? You’re over confident about your position, pooch.” He hovers over me.
“You know Deacon hates it when you play with his food.” Cauis suddenly appears by the door. I feel slightly relieved there’s another presence in this room. The air was getting harder to breathe in.
“He has plenty of toys to play with, what’s so special about this one?” He takes a step closer, eliminating the space left between us. My wolf wants to devour his face, not in a good way. I need to control my beast from coming out, I could feel my eyes shifting color. Before I could do anything, another voice rang inside the room.
“Get out now.” The woman from the other night strides inside, pulling the annoying guy away from me. “Marie, we were just playing.” He chuckles, and follows Caius outside. “Crazy vampires, you’ll get yourselves killed.” She shouts after them.
“William is goofing around, don’t let him get inside your head.” She says before shutting the door behind her with a loud thud. When they were out of earshot, I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.
Thoughts came parading in my head, King and Queen? Who were they referring to? I could smell a familiar scent radiating off of the werewolf earlier, is my wolf wrong? I thought I’ll finally be free, I guess he’s one of the rogues.
Weeks before Mom and Dad went missing, news came to camp that rogue werewolves and vampires were attacking small villages, taking vulnerable werewolves to sell to wealthy vampires. They need our blood to stay strong, we were at the end of the food chain all of the sudden. The Government is elated of course, that means no vampires biting down human necks for another century. They didn’t want to get in the middle of another impending war.
Mom and Dad had to sort things out themselves, they are the alpha and luna of our pack, even though Amoux strongly disagreed to let them join the search, they still went. I am my father’s daughter.
I sighed to myself, thinking. I wish I could go home. I miss them dearly. Even Scout Leader Trevor’s face. I suddenly felt tears rushing from my eyes.
The rain started pouring from the sky, it added to the effect. The sky is crying with me. I guess I’ve been holding back my tears ever since I was kidnapped. I need to be strong in front of these vampires, or I won’t last a day with them. This place is crawling with self absorbed dumb vampires.
I stepped out the balcony holding out a hand. After a couple of minutes I’m already soaking wet. The cold air blows on my face, making me shiver. The smell of grass, the swishing sound of trees, and the pouring rain felt like home. I promise myself to train harder when I get back, I’ll roll down the mud with the scouts and practice more. I just want to go home.
